the best line is at the end when he finds a woman who makes him feel like a real good looking boy, that's amazing writing, thank you Townshend and thank you Daltry for singing it to perfection.
Because of mean mother who doesn't show him the love that the boy needs. "son, you're you're an ugly boy" IOW son, you are a failure and no one will ever love you like they love Elvis"
I feel the reason is that we are the child and the who are our guidance. At least that's how I feel. Without them knowing it, they practically raised me. They taught me so much about be beauty and love with some extra thrown in. I love all music but nothing so much as Pete , Roger, John and the ginger bread man
It's Simple---- Simply the best. the best vocalist, the best guitarist, the best bassist, the best drummer, the best writer , the best songs, the best rock band ever ---Simple.
"REAL GOOD LOOKING BOY is a song I wrote quite a few years ago about two young men who worry about their looks. One of them, based on me - hopes and believes he might look like his best friend who is a conventionally handsome fellow. (He is disavowed of this notion by his mother). The second, based on Roger - hopes and believes he will one day turn out to be like the young Elvis. (He, more happily, sees part of his dream come true). They both find love in later life." Pete Townshend
the thing about this song is that every single verse literally describes my life in order. in ways it depresses me but i think of it as a way to shortly explain my life ^_^ but sometimes listening to the ending verse makes me think of her. sometimes makes me tear a little :(
Damn good song. An underrated one at that. The post John Entwistle era of the band has some good songs. This is definitely one of them. Endless Wire is a very good album. For me it's one that gets better with age.
This song b on the Who's "Then & Now" CD. A compilation/best of album. This song & "Ol Red Wine" were 2 nu songs added at the end. Don't kno why but this tune always brings a tear me eye. Not supposed to do that w/ Who songs. But it still kicks ass. Whoo-ya!
Wonderful wonderful! I especially liked the Keith Moon tribute. They will always be my favourite band. This is one of their few new songs that really harken back to the old Who and really fun to play on Rock Band 2 to boot!
This is the greatest Who video montage I have ever seen. I'm glad you put Kenny Jones and Zack Starkey in there. This is one of my favorite Who songs too. Thank you for posting this. God bless you.
I saw them in Nokia Theatre on Saturday night, and they played this song (it was the first time I heard it) I almost cried. They are so incredible, I wanted the concert to go on forever.
no words can really describe how much this song means to me,reminds me of the best mate i ever had,i tell you this neil pal your star shines so bloody bright, crazy times remembered.and to the person who put this up thank you very very much.
Their isn't one bad note in this song, sad yet uplifting, modern but at times very nostalgic, showing how relevant this group's sound past and present is. I've been fortunate enough to hear this song live and for me it has been and always will be not just about the music but that well Who's left? I'll tell you some other time. Long Live Rock Long Live The Who
I thought my pain would never go away...I thought that having to hide my love would be hard...This song...It's powerful...It makes me feel better about so many things...I love her...and this song tells me why...
everybody saw the tragic train wreck, no one was crazier, and loved as much (like everybody saw Brian Jones' death coming too, but he became pretty unbearable) ...Keith had a wacky lovable quality; drove them insane , but yeah this is definitely about Elvis (because we get the riff) but also Keith --but seriously genius.. Iove this band and have never seen.. . why am I so insistent--man, i waited months outside the 100 nClub n London's oxford St in the 70's just tryin' to get in or catch a glimpse...(:
I love in the documentary how Roger's voice sounds weak as they're rehearsing, then when they record he turns the clock back 30 years and roars like the beast he is. I believe he suffers from a chronic disease called "Bad-ass-itic."
Pete wrote it about a young man's insecurity comparing himself to Elvis, and then the release he feels when he finds someone later in life who destroys those insecurities.
You have done a really amazing job. This song will always bring a tear to my eye as it makes me think of my son. This was the first song he listened too at about a day and a half old. Thank you.
I abseloutley think Pete's songs have helped me deal with alot in thru my life, being ill and trying to deal with the frustrations it brings up ,while everyone is trying to get me to fucking meditate and be at one with nature(even though i know Townshend does that with his Mehar baba thing) and I want to get back on me motorbike ,get back playing Rock&roll with a band, yeah The Who , Pete, its fucking therapy thats what it is. Thanks for the songs Pete.
It's about Pete and Roger as kids admiring and wanting to become Elvis the 'Rock God.' Roger did but Pete's parents said sorry you're 'too ugly.' It's a great song - very emotional and touching.
this is without a doubt, art!!! best montage i have seen, and not just because i love the who, but this just fucking nails it all!!!! thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!
Makes me think of the 1970's A's montages they used to show at the Coliseum. Reggie, Vida, Sal, Catfish, Joe Rudi, Campy, Rollie, Kenny Holtzman, Dick Green, Gene Tenace. 3 consecutive World Series and one of the best teams in baseball history.
A fine video montage, well put together. More importantly though, an unbelievable song;a brilliant Who recording that is unfortunately overlooked, by some, because it's newer.
the best line is at the end when he finds a woman who makes him feel like a real good looking boy, that's amazing writing, thank you Townshend and thank you Daltry for singing it to perfection.
I always cry listening to this song.
I don't even know why either.
I just... get so emotional...
2021 still do
Because of mean mother who doesn't show him the love that the boy needs. "son, you're you're an ugly boy" IOW son, you are a failure and no one will ever love you like they love Elvis"
Yes I do too. Can't explain it other than somehow pertaining to my own life. It's a great song. Classic who with Pete's guitar playing.
Being a father, it's a great song, god bless all the fathers out there, be proud of your kids ..... :)
I feel the reason is that we are the child and the who are our guidance. At least that's how I feel. Without them knowing it, they practically raised me. Who are the others giving credit for writing Pete?
Great song Pete .......congrats
Yes what a great song we came up with Big P. 💪🏻
Thanks for taking my advice.
The greatest songwriter to ever live. 💪🎶🎼❤️🎸
the thing about this song is that every single verse literally describes my life in order. in ways it depresses me but i think of it as a way to shortly explain my life ^_^ but sometimes listening to the ending verse makes me think of her. sometimes makes me tear a little :(
I can cry watching these , they will always be leyends
my father used to sing this song to me for years and used to say that i’m the “real good looking boy” i miss and love you dad RIP 6/4/55-4/15/23
This song just evokes all kind of emotion. I really can't put my finger on it. It's just powerful.
Pete is HAPPY Keith and John are dead.
@@petebradt😤
Yes HE said that !! 🤬🤬🤬 "Nos so good musicians" how dare youb,Pete???!!!
I don't entirely understand why, but a little into the song i started crying.
I completely understand👍
what a great tribute form Pete & Roger to all those years gone, very moving and nostalgic... but you know in the end, The Who never gets old!!!
Damn good song. An underrated one at that. The post John Entwistle era of the band has some good songs. This is definitely one of them. Endless Wire is a very good album. For me it's one that gets better with age.
+Bret Bailey They're incredible!! They really get better with age (if that's possible)

This song is phenomenal!
I love this song! 40 years old and the lyrics are still beautiful.
Lucky fucks and angels 👼😬
Wonderful wonderful! I especially liked the Keith Moon tribute. They will always be my favourite band. This is one of their few new songs that really harken back to the old Who and really fun to play on Rock Band 2 to boot!

dedicated to the lovin memory of the great john entwistle and the great keith moon! long live the who!! long live rock!!
This montage was obviously a labor of love. Good job!
I saw them in Nokia Theatre on Saturday night, and they played this song (it was the first time I heard it) I almost cried. They are so incredible, I wanted the concert to go on forever.
Without Entwistle, there is no Who. Period.
Simply one of the best songs ever written from the best band there has ever been. THE WHO R THE BEST.
I saw them live with my dad too and they started playing this song...it was beyond amazing.
no words can really describe how much this song means to me,reminds me of the best mate i ever had,i tell you this neil pal your star shines so bloody bright, crazy times remembered.and to the person who put this up thank you very very much.
Cette vidéo et cette chanson je l'écouterai toute les années qu'il me reste,le 17.09.2024
Great band!
There is nothing like an introspective Townshend.
Their isn't one bad note in this song, sad yet uplifting, modern but at times very nostalgic, showing how relevant this group's sound past and present is. I've been fortunate enough to hear this song live and for me it has been and always will be not just about the music but that well Who's left? I'll tell you some other time. best drummer and bassist of ever
I thought my pain would never go away...I thought that having to hide my love would be hard...This song...It's powerful...It makes me feel better about so many things...I love her...and this song tells me why...
this song might not be everyone's favorite but it sure is mine!!
these clips are a great summary of the band since they have formed.
I commented a while back but I still watch this video :). It makes me love the band more than I already do. True legends. The best of the best.
Fantastic collage of so many wonderful WHO moments
great, great, beautiful, excellent clip...
brought me to tears!
LONG LIVE THE WHO!!!!!
I love this song so much...also this video is an amazing tribute to the awesome but troubled Keith Moon!
everybody saw the tragic train wreck, no one was crazier, and loved as much (like everybody saw Brian Jones' death coming too, but he became pretty unbearable) ...Keith had a wacky lovable quality; drove them insane , but yeah this is definitely about Elvis (because we get the riff) but also Keith --but seriously genius.. @Richard Zcent yes, obviously the song is about Elvis. I said the 'music video' is an amazing tribute to Keith Moon, not the song.
That is really a GREAT song, Pete Townshend, Lennon/McCartney, F. Mercury, Brian May and Eddie Van Halen, greatest geniuses of rock.
Great classic The Who album!! Rest in Heaven forever to John "Thunder fingers" Entwhiste and ELP's Greg Lake!!
I love in the documentary how Roger's voice sounds weak as they're rehearsing, then when they record he turns the clock back 30 years and roars like the beast he is. I believe he suffers from a chronic disease called "Bad-ass-itic."
Epic tribute, so touching and full of reverence.
this song is melancholy personified to me ever since i listend to it as a child.
multiple goosebumps moments in this one. a kick ass tear-jerker!
how good is this song they did the king proud! why has it not got more hits??
Beautiful song-- so much truth and vulnerability ("God gave me a grace...") AND a superb video-- thank you!!
God bless Peter Townshend
Song is about Elvis, Roger says as much when he performs it live. Old Red Wine is about John.
Pete wrote it about a young man's insecurity comparing himself to Elvis, and then the release he feels when he finds someone later in life who destroys those insecurities.
RIP Greg Lake, the good-looking boy who played bass on this record.
You have done a really amazing job. This song will always bring a tear to my eye as it makes me think of my son. This was the first song he listened too at about a day and a half old.
Thank you.
Love me some who makes me smile and happy in kind to a shit world
Happy birthday Keith. We love you.
Gets better every time I hear it.
Amazing song, amazing group.
That was awsome. A really good retro...nice timing on the cuts too. I'm gonna watch it again.
thanks
Diosssss...! La piel de gallina te pone esto!
Qué bonito!!!!!!
Love the clips and pics, one of my favorite to belt out.
Wow, One of the best montages of a rock band I've seen made by a guy on youtube. Well done mate.
Still remember seeing The Who in concert like it was yesterday.
Just love this song!

Thank you for making this video! I'm tearing up.
This is amazing, a brilliant blend of the song and clips. You have done a fucking fantastic job and one which really does this amazing band justice.
I like when Pete slides on his knees
It's about Pete and Roger as kids admiring and wanting to become Elvis the 'Rock God.' Roger did but Pete's parents said sorry you're 'too ugly.' It's a great song - very emotional and touching.
What a song.
Elvis always my favorite. The Who are great
This is an excellent, excellent montage! Thanks for making this.
When this song came out in the early 2000's, it felt like there was no recording break from the 1980's.
Labour of love...nice one.
Greg Lake plays bass on this track - ✌🏻🎶🎸
John would have made it an even greater song
Thanks for putting this up, it's awesome! ^.^
wow i'm crying, Fantastic video
Good tribute! makes me think about "The King" too!
Just listened to it again... WOW!!
Holy Crap!!! What a niice song with a beautiful lyric !!!!
love this song, sounds like old who, seems like is was written a long time ago.
it doesn't matter if you are bad looking if you are the guitarist of the best band ever !
While this song isn't classic Who, it perfectly showcases the power of Rogers' voice.
On October 20th, I will be having my first dance with my husband to this song.
thank you, it's my band, i have 53 years old and to day i'm happy and sad...very sad...biggest emotion
En 2024 , les plus grands c'est toujours the who
the who will never die as long as they have their fans
Amazing! What an awesome tribute!
This is an underrated and mostly unknown masterpiece by Townshend
When Buddy Rich got to Heaven, he handed his drumsticks to Keith and said, "Show me how you do that."
This should've been number 1.
3:17-3:58
RIP Keith
The thunder in the sky is Keith's drums in heaven
Great video, last time i saw them live they played montage of old elvis footage during this, moving stuff indeed.....
this is without a doubt, art!!! best montage i have seen, and not just because i love the who, but this just fucking nails it all!!!! thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!
ROCK GODS, amongst mortals!
this is beautiful
aw man, that was lovely. awesome job.
What a fantastic video and song!!!
Vince did a nice Baba into TNK live in 1992
OUTSTANDING! Thanks!
Makes me think of the 1970's A's montages they used to show at the Coliseum. Reggie, Vida, Sal, Catfish, Joe Rudi, Campy, Rollie, Kenny Holtzman, Dick Green, Gene Tenace. 3 consecutive World Series and one of the best teams in baseball history.
awesome song and an awesome vid
Fucking love this song

Excellent video. Thanks for making it and thanks for sharing it.
I'm 15 years old and they're in my top 5. queen is number 1
A fine video montage, well put together. More importantly though, an unbelievable song;a brilliant Who recording that is unfortunately overlooked, by some, because it's newer.
