- Do troubles and trials push you toward God - or away?
Today, look back over your week. How is your spiritual health?
Has it been a week with trials, troubles, or struggles?
Did pressures increase at work, at home, in your health, or finances?
And then what happens inside of you?
Did you cry out to the Lord, fall upon His grace, and turn from any wicked way?
Or did you seethe in anger, wallow in self-pity, or worst of all harden your heart to spiritual things?
The test of pruning (which is affirmative) and chastening (which is disciplinary) is in our response.
That is one of the simplest ways to test what is going on in your life.
Pruning always draws us closer, chastening initially can push us away.
TEST #1: When troubles came this week, did you remain joyful, did you read God's Word with hunger, and talk to Him often in prayer? A fruitful believer that is experiencing the nearness of their Heavenly Father pruning rises to God’s challenge. We move toward the Lord.
TEST #2: Or when troubles came this week, did joylessness fill your heart, mind and life? Did your relationship with the Lord, seems blighted by sadness or lethargy? Did the Word of God seem unimportant, boring, and dull? We often initially move away or grow cold toward the Lord.
OUR FATHER WANTS THE BEST FOR US
With His heart full of love and mercy, OUR Father the Vinedresser is trying to bring into our lives this morning, the greatest possible blessing. Listen to these words from a paragraph entitled “Obedience” from Chastening, a booklet by James H. McConkey. God comes to us in the positive discipline of pruning, or in the negative discipline of chastening. How does He do that?
It may be through the suffering of your seeing carefully made plans replaced by keen disappointment.
It may be through the suffering of bereavements that tear from your presence - precious loved ones.
It may be through the suffering of temporal losses and broken fortunes.
It may be through the suffering that stalks into your life through the willfulness and sin of others.
It may be through the suffering that sometimes seems to bring you to the brink of a broken faith and a broken heart.
It may be that out of your very agony of heart and soul the eternal God of love and mercy is seeking to bring into your life the greatest blessing that can enrich and glorify that life - the blessing of your human will yielded to the will of God.
And to be yielded to the will of God means more than silver and gold, more than gratified desires and ambitions, more than the pleasures of friendship, more than all the praises of men, more than all the prizes of fame, and more than the attainment of all your highest earthly aims and strivings. This is the richest and deepest of all blessings - to be swallowed up in the will of God.

I was born again 3.5 years ago and spent 53 years as a heathen/practicing witch. Slowly and painfully the Holy Ghost has worked on my heart. I still struggle with being reactionary/inappropriate bursts of anger and cussing. But it is farther and fewer incidences and I've noticed these bad habits come out when I'm not diligent and chasing after God's word. What pastor John is saying is true. I've learned so much from him.

This world is under the evil one's power so We ALL need to pray. God tells us in 1Chronicles 7:14
About a year after I became a Christian, I spent four weeks constantly lying to multiple organisations to get a new job all for the goal of more money. During this time and for the entire time, I felt like the Holy Spirit was squeezing my heart and breaking my bones from the conviction of this wilful sinning, to the point, I would break down in tears. Eventually, I collapsed and repented of my sins in Jesus name, but I’ve got to tell you, it was one of the most excruciating pains I’ve experienced in my life. God is a good, good father and we are loved by him ❤
I’m in a lot of pain now. I’m starting to think it’s sin. I really need to change. Thankyou for sharing.

How much pain you must have been going through. Praise be given to our Infinite loving Creator that no matter the circumstances, He will always be there. Sadly too often we tend to blame Him and become profoundly angry at Him but in his infinite understanding He keeps loving us no matter the ways He must impose on us. The more it hurts, the more we should realise and acknowledge how great His love for us is though often we cannot fathom it's depth. God's loving peace be upon you in Christ Yeshua, Amen!
Besides the chastening, pruning and scourging, there are also attacks from the enemy that can very easily be mis understood and mis interpreted if we are not continually coming to the Lord and being filled with His Word and His Spirit. The Spiritual War that we ARE in is growing in intensity. The Human Race is under attack from every direction imaginable!
May God help us all to walk in and live in His Spirit EVERY Day!

All of His children must sometimes be put into the wine press so that the pain will lead to repentance. Repentance, right living, and wisdom that leads to obedience and true SALVATION is my main prayer. l pray The Holy Spirit is within you, and He chances you too. 15 yrs and now i find self struggling with anger . The presence of the enemy is getting stronger . The saints are wearing down. Most peeps wont listen to truth even so called christians.
They’re not True Christians. It’s a small Remnant actually. Many are called few are chosen. It’s quite sad.
Have you prayed about your anger issues? The presence of the Enemy grows stronger when you acknowledge him. Focus on your relationship with God, ignore the Lying Destructive Thief.
Be filled daily with the power of the Holy Spirit! Left to ourselves, we’ll eventually fail! Confess, repent and move towards Christ
The Holy Spirit will convict for correction if your doing the wrong thing you have to stay tuned into the word and listen.

I appreciate your sermons. God is definitely working through you and you speak the truth. This sermon has given me hope that I lacked especially recently. I CAN feel and hear the Holy Spirit correcting my behavior in me even if He leaves the ball in my court to make changes. And absolutely it's biblical. You don't have to call it a switch... There is a Fountain filled with blood drawn from Immanuels veins and sinners plunged beneath that flood lose all their guilty stains . There is a Fountain old hymn For I know that my redeemer lives and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth . Job 19 25 . Jesus said If any man thirst let him come unto me and drink . John 7 37 . In that day there shall be a fountain opened to the house of David and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem for sin and for uncleanness . Zechariah 13 1 . Neither will I hide my face any more from them for I have poured out my spirit upon the house of Israel saith the Lord God . Ezekiel 39 29 . blindness in part is happened to Israel until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in . Romans 11 25 . For with thee is the fountain of life in thy light shall we see light . Psalm 36 9
The disciples were called Christians first in Antioch . The Holy Ghost sent down from heaven fell on all them and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost and they spake the word of God with boldness - Acts 11 26 , 1 Peter 1 12 Acts 11 15 Acts 4 31 . Please take a look at the 300 books that are missing, and it does, state all who pass the books on will be blessed, so why did they disappear? I read some , the best was that we have two Angels in us one, Good the other bad, the one we must not pay attention , the loving one, the bad Angel in us trying to get us mad at every thing-the other full of peace and love- ...who knew-? Please pray for me. I’m in the middle of a difficult situation. Im living in sin. Divorced and currently live with my partner of 7years. I just realized I can’t marry him because God forbids remarriage if im divorced. I have formed a family with my partner (no kids) and he is getting close to God more and more. I know I need to part with this relationship but I don’t want to hurt my partner since he is a good man and loves me and he is starting to love God but he is very very new to his word and Ive prayed to God to fix my situation and im very scared of all the outcomes. Jesus help me.
It’s not against the Bible to get married if you’ve gotten a divorce. But it’s against the Bible to live with someone if you’re not married. And I’m not so sure what you mean by partner but that doesn’t sound right either.
@@aletheia8054 You are wrong. Read Malachi 2. God will discipline the pastor who does not honor God by turning people AWAY from their sin... especially as it relates to divorce. The guilty party cannot remarry. The guilty party does violence to the one they should protect when they hate and divorce their spouse. God will strike the prophet who does NOT HONOR God's name by striking their blessings. God hates divorce and the purpose of marriage is to have GODLY OFFSPRING. Blessed is he who has his quiver full of children /grandchildren.
ADDITIONALLY,. Read the last four or five verses in the last chapter of the Bible which is revelation 22 where the Lord Jesus Christ speaks about the one who adds to his word and that God will add to them the plagues that are written in this book. The one who subtracts from God's word God will remove them from three things. Look it up and check it out.
The Bible says the fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge but fools despise wisdom and instruction. Solomon says in the last couple of verses of Ecclesiastes that the whole duty of man is to keep the Commandments and to fear the Lord.
Check out the last verse of Acts 3 to find out the meaning of God bless you. If God blesses you you will turn away from your iniquity.
God doesn't ask us to sign off on his memos. God tells us his word and he expects us to obey him. God is not afraid to discipline us

Your conscience is alive. It's not clear whether your former husband was born again or not, whether you were both saved when you married or if you got saved at some point, both of you or you alone. The doctrine of 'divorce' is progressive and aforementioned are factors, albeit inexhaustive, Paul teaches we consider in such a scenario. Listen prayerfully to your conscience and the Holy Spirit will lead you a peaceful settlement. While believers are saved eternally, we shouldn't settle for bare minima. Refuse guilt.

The Way is the Baptism of the Holy Spirit which is a literal experience separate from water Baptism. I call it the Agape Baptism whereby you literally meet God and are bathed in His unconditional love. “The Way” is the path to God’s Throne Room. But “bible scholars” usually know nothing about it.

Maybe this is just me and someone let me know if you feel the same. But when I think of being in sin ! I think of not being saved by the Lord ,not believing, not being born again, never trusting that Christ is enough to the point where you rely more on what you do than what has been done for you . When you do believe you are no longer in sin ! Ans I’m a strong believer that the sacrifice of Jesus was our redemption. I believe every word when God calls us new creatures, his heritage, that he chose and ordained us. That by belief in the Lord alone we are saved and when we do grow away from the old things it’s because of and understanding of his love and not the fear of being condemned. I think the real lie, is that sin is still and issue. And I feel like people still sin, because they are not in agreement that the battles been won and that it ended in victory. I hope everyone here knows that you are saved because of the work of God which was sending Jesus, not your ability to do works. Never forget Jesus is the true redeemer and no one can say they’ve earned the grace that was given Ephesians 2:8-9
Are you saying that if you were actually a believer in Christ and had accepted him as your lord and savior that you are incapable of sin? Or are you saying that even if you do something that was previously considered a sin before you were saved it is no longer a sin after you were saved? Because neither one of those are true. Once you have become saved and follow Jesus Christ you are still entirely capable of sin you will just be able to recognize that what you have done is sin and be fully willing to repent of that sin.

Pardon my ignorance but I'm confused when trying to discern how we're supposed to check whom the gospels are written to, and James (though I Love the book) addresses his epistle to the lost tribes? Obviously I'm missing something.
Regarding the tribes, they aren't lost. Revelation says that 12,000 witnesses will come from each of the tribes named. Luke 2:36 tells of the prophetess Anna of the tribe of Asher. God knows who and where they are.
The gospels were written to everyone.

Respectfully to the teacher, the chastening in Hebrews 12:5-6 is not only done as a response to disobedience. See how God disciplined His own Son in verse 3.

[7] It is for discipline that you have to endure. God is treating you as sons. For what son is there whom his father does not discipline?

Things in my house get taken and sometimes returned. Things get broken. I caught a family member. . Some supernatural..ex. my phone took pictures when i wasn't touching it. I could hear and see it..i witnessed something unseen pat my pillow. My feelings are this is demonic and witchcraft. I am asking if God would chastise in this manner?

@@kamalapati154 This is spiritual warfare. I have heard that the demons do not like worship and praise as it changes the atmosphere. Look for sound teaching from godly people and if possible the support, prayer and encouragement of other believers. Consider if there are any things from your old life that may be doorways for them. Remember in Acts 19:19 how old magic scrolls had to be burned, rather than sold (even though they were valuable). Pray over yourself and your property. I hope that some of this will be helpful, but our help comes from God.

I have the NKJV Macarthur Study Bible, and there is no "James" in it! It is not even listed in my appendix, so I do not know what Bible I should be using, but this one I have is one of the study bibles that DTBM recommended to use.

We work on our salvation daily, and barely scratch the surface of progress every day. Everyone has idols in their life. They don't even know where we have idols covetousness, and so many other things. We all sin and fall short of the glory of God. There is no condemnation for those in Christ Jesus. 6:00 This is NOT what Matthew 5 32 says at all. There's nothing about "innocent party" it's about adultery on the woman's behalf. Divorcing her for any other reason causes her to commit adultery (I would presume due to her lack of ability to support herself). Also marrying a divorced woman is adultery!

The chastising correcting the rebuking trials in scripture has nothing to do with sin or a Christian committing sin. It has to do with correct doctrine.
There is no formula in scripture for a true born-again believer who walks in all the commandments and is filled with the Spirit of God who walks in Christ given to them on how to come out of sin.
No true believer can sin. The only formula is repentance from sin. Repentance is the only way. and there is no such thing as on going repentance. The table of the Lord is not just a declaration of the death of Christ. It is also a declaration of the true believer that he to has died. No believer who has truly died has the ability to sin.
Prove to me that Christ accepts on going sin. Prove to me that a true born again spirit filled walking in Christ believer will lead the Christ in him to sin. Give me just one reason why a true believer would want to sin. Just show me one scripture that shows that after being born again Jesus allows any believer to sin and he can carry on. I get the idea of giving time to God because it's God, but this still doesn't make sense even in that context. If a preacher speaks a sermon that may as well have been filled with dead air, isn't that a sign of bad preacher? They are supposed to help feed their sheep, which is a command Jesus gave to Paul. If you came and got literally nothing out of it, not even better understanding of what God expects of you, why did the sermon get spoken at all? Why make sermons that try to teach the word of God then? You go in to the building empty and come out empty?

When you believed, the Spirit quickened you with Christ, you are then born again, created a new creature in Christ.. God then dwelleth in you... you are born of God! You can no longer sin! If you believe God, and he dwelleth within you... you claim you're still sinning, then you're calling God a sinner.. So if you believe you can still sin, you're not truly saved! Being born again means the Spirit of God dwelleth within you... if the Spirit dwelleth within you, you're justified by the Spirit! All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient!
