This is so impressive! I love the wallrunning and how you've implemented so many ways for Sonic to keep his momentum. Looking forward to playing this myself!
this is really nice !, btw i just have a small problem with the jumpball spinning sfx in the air, its kinda loud but this is what i got everything else is perfect
i personally love sonic frontiers despite its flaws but im looking forward to horizons big time, its gonna scratch that itch for more of what that game offered while being much different
I would play this for hours, as person who played the original demo i liked what it was going for and loved the wallrunning implementation, but after seeing this I'm blown away on how much has improved and changed. I've said this about many sonic fangames but when this drops and if it has an open world option where you can just shut off your brain and run fast kinda like swinging mindless in marvels spiderman then this is shaping up to be my most anticipated sonic fangame ever.
Wow, just saw the SAGE 2023 demo and I was thinking about a few of these, but it went past my expectations! Organic wall run is the thing I would have liked to see more in Sonic Frontiers (but I get why they disabled it to have more control on where we could go without having to rework the whole level design). In fact I've been looking forward to it since Sonic Heroes (or should I say Shadow the Hedgehog which turned Triangle Jump into actual wall run, except it was very segmented and there was no momentum preservation). The half-pipe reminds me of those cool sports games (Tony Hawk, 1080 Snowboarding) but here it looks very easy to gain speed without doing much. Maybe it even accelerates too much? I'll have to see how it relates to the actual world. It doesn't bother me when you have to use various slopes and pipes in order to accelerate though, as it takes more work to do so. Styles look cool, although it seems that Sonic Adventure artwork toon shader only applies well to the shoes? The blue hair/spikes shading still look gradual. And now for the very important question: will you add an option to disable the ring pick up animation making the ring float around you before you finally get them? It adds some lag and tends to disturb me (although I got used to it while playing Sonic Frontiers so now it's more when watching videos). It seems you immediately pick rings in Sonic Forces so I'm not sure why they added this in Sonic Frontiers. I suspect it was to better see rings hidden behind the character model when you run fast and may miss them, but I think that showing the ring pick up FX on top of the character (+ pick up SFX) should be enough. I kinda gave up giving feedback on Sonic Frontiers to the devs mid-way (esp. as I came too late, they were already working on the next game), but with a fan game in development, everything looks possible! Especially after seeing so many improvements!
@@lnguyenhuu6821 the physics have been tweaked since this video. I nerfed most of his values to make it easier for the engine to handle loading and unloading things in the world, but its not too noticeable since ive compensated with some more exaggerated camera shifts the adventure style is a little hit or miss yeah, even more so now since I’ve redone the entire graphics/rendering part of the game, but I thought it was cool enough to show off eitherway (my rule of thumb is if it’s cool enough, show it online, even if its hella unfinished lol) as for the ring pickup, honestly dunno. The ring gets collected the second you touch its hitbox, the rest is just visual, and not many people have had issue with the animation so I wouldn’t bother too much if you want an example of how things feel currently, I’ve uploaded a remix of the stage from Sage 2022 on my GameJolt (@_the_strix) in may using the at the time current physics. It’s practically the same as it is now minus the nerfs, could be cool to check out
You've got to have some sort of controls menu cause I had no idea how to spindash. Also what is a game directory? Saw that on the loading screen but I have no idea how to access that
I’ve tried to get controls settings in place but I couldnt do it quick enough due to school, so I just went with putting the controls alongside the exe of the game (its a png)
the trick being inspired by spider man a character i love like sonic so its really cool seeing a sonic project do that also it looks really good it could have looked really stiff but no i doesnt it looks clean and pls make the optimazation better i cant play the game
