No. You can only cancel factors. Put a parentheses around the numerator and denominator. You can only cancel that exact factor...not part of a factor. Think about if you had 2 + 3 over 4 - 3. That is 5/1 or 5. You couldn't cancel to get 3/2-3. either. All I did was put in 3 for x to show it wouldn't work if you canceled. See my videos on simplifying rational expressions for more info on this.
In second example why didn't you use X2 as LCD, but instead you used X? In first example, which was similar to second example, you decided to use X2 as LCD and the X. Please advise. Thanks.
Really well done, perfect pace, thanks a lot!!!
At 7:49 why did you get positive 4 instead of negative?
In the big denominator, after multiplying (x+2)(x-2), it cancels the den. x^2-4, so only the numerator is still there, which is +4, not -4.
You've saved my life!
Thanks for covering both methods in one video.
Great videos. So well explained.
5:38 the 2 in the numerator and the 4 in the denominator can be divide into 2 right? so that the answer is x/2-x
This was extremely helpful thank you so much!!!!!!!!
Life saver! :) Thanks CoolMathGal!
I got the same answer but I reduced the answer to 1+X/2-X, is it possible to reduce? Or am I breaking some rule?

how is it both xsquared to both

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!!
how about an algebraic expressions is divided over a fraction
i.e.
2(2x+3) / (2x-3)/(x^2+4)
thanks julie
i hate math but i need to review to pass and proceed to the second semester. hope i can pass that exam
ow thanks. help me alot :D
