- So many people come into the salon wanting a perm but they don’t know what size rod they want to use. Here’s a video demonstrating the different rod sizes and the curls they give. This should make deciding which curl you want so much easier!

At the end when all the hair is down, you should have put the colored roller in front of every head so we can see the size of the roller with the end result.

Yes, Nicky is correct. Orange rods are pretty standard, you should be just fine ordering the orange ones.

Its most defined from all. but shouldn´t a even more smaller rod than the orange one, give a more defined curl? For example purple or white didn´t turn out defined. So i would assume that the hair is diffrent.
And normally purple or even whit would look better?! what do you think?
The look i want to achieve is...have you seen orange or peach rods on afro american hair? It is so defined and the curls don´t turn down to a spiral...they stay in place as curl. Thats what i want too. How can i achieve it on european fine hair (natural 2b-3a)?

Be careful. If tight curls are what you are looking for then go for it, but if you just want a regular curl go with a purple.
What is the diameter of the rods? I'm trying to buy similar to the orange ones but everywhere I look they have a different diameter....

Id like to see this on a spiral perm. I want a spiral and don't know which rod to use.
I would talk with your stylist. Based on your hair length, thickness and desired end result they can help you determine which rod would be best for you.

I really thought the green rods, even though you couldn’t wrap the hair around as many times, would’ve at least produced a more voluminous curl since the rod was actually bigger. I really don’t understand. Maybe it’s the amount of hair used on each rod? Or the perm type?
I would use the white and peach
I already have really nice curls, I just need them tighter for the hairstyle I’m going for

Yep I was thinking of getting it to but not sure what size tho 🧐
Eventually we will be doing a men's perm but will not be for a bit. It will look the same though as this on a man. Watch the video again and determine which size of curl you are looking for. Purple is the most common one requested here, followed by peach. The orange is a bigger curl and the green will either be a very loose curl or not show at all. Good luck.

Well, considering that depending on the brand, the colors and the sizes are not universal, this tutorial didn't really help.

@@adventuretings345 You can find the sizes for each rod in the comments below. The color sizes are pretty universal meaning any orange will be the same from store to store. You can purchase them just about anywhere you would find hair products. From my own experience I never go above an orange. Anything bigger than an orange seems to fall out too quickly. Good Luck!

@@allysonmarie4093 I was trying to find the sizes of perm rods, but you've stated here that the purple is the same size as the peach in mm, and the purple has been stated as bigger in inches. I dont think you have the correct measurements here.

I've found the larger you go the more the perm will not last. In the salon the largest I go is an orange. It will leave you curlier but better chance of it lasting.

How many rods do you use for this length of hair?
Oh goodness, that's difficult to answer. It will depend on the thickness of the hair, the head size, etc...
You should put the corresponding roller to each hair do to appteciate better the end result in order for us to choose the right one for are hair. Thank you.

I don't see any difference you should have put the rods beside the mannequin heads and indicate the sizes of the rods. Saying the colors are nonsense
