    Super tips as always. All of these tips were new to me, so very helpful, especially to match on the sewing line not the cut line, that doe make sense once you know. Thanks again for your help.

    I remember making a plaid jacket in my college Tailoring class. The first and only time I've touched plaid. Between mismatching plaids, and traditionally hand stitched hair canvas, plaid will forever haunt me.

      Hahaha... I also had a hunting memory of matching chevron stripes in school. This information would have saved me some headache... (I am sure professors explained this in school, but how often was I ACTUALLY listening?). Thank you for watching!!

    You put so much effort in your video; thank you so much. Personally I know nothing about actually construction/severing pieces, but I recently got a red kilt-skirt that I'm experimenting with (I'm a guy) and it's awkwardly longer than I would like. Even though this video doesn't necessarily apply to me specifically, it was still a thoroughly entertaining video. So thank you for making this video, again!!!!!!

    Thanks Faren! I did not know about the technical terms of balanced or unbalanced before. I loved the info regarding large squares and small ones, and the stripes. I always matched or placed something according to the fabric, I just didn’t know what it was called. My biggest issue is mostly when I’m sewing, no matter how many pins, the stripes are off a tad, like a 16th or less, that irritates me lol I can’t wait to see the next video about sewing it all together.

    • @LTRLtrend
      @LTRLtrend  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If your plaid is off by a 16th than you may want to check if you are matching at the seam line (and NOT the cut line) -- this is very important because when you go to sew your pieces together matching those seam lines matters. Next week, we are cutting the plaid... As always, thank you for being here!

    I always wanted to design my own pattern and just have fabric printed. Like I’ve dabbled with graphic design software a bit. This video has given me so much to keep in mind - Thanks!! One day when I get around to trying this I think I will straight up print the pattern onto the fabric as well but reckon one could try to digitally “walk” the pattern to make sure that everything matches up. Hey you could probably “stretch” the fabric pattern (like stripes or whatever) so that if you say have a puffy sleeve where you gather fabric that it still lines up. So much to think about haha

    • @LTRLtrend
      @LTRLtrend  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      So glad I am able to inspire this creativity...
      Yes, "walking" your pattern is definitely a practice used to match plaids (as well as in the pattern making process). Thank you for sharing your inspired thought process... it definitely has me thinking I want to do some block-printing of my own!

    Hi enjoying your videos and detailed instructions. What happens if i am cutting out my pattern which is a pdf pattern , they do not have a seam allowance drawn on it like the shop patterns what do i then use as a my focal point when cutting my plaid fabric please. Thanks.

    This is why I just stick to dinosaur prints 🤷‍♀️ 😂

      @LTRLtrend  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hahaha, yasss DINOSAURS! The tip on directional plaids (and stripes) can also refer to your dinosaur prints as well.... wouldn't want your dinosaurs to be upside. Thank for watching!

    Beginner saying thanks for two massive tips… printed stripes aren’t always straight… and matching the seam lines instead of the cut lines! You have saved me 2 more boxes on Kleenex. Xx 🌷❤️

    Thank you. This video is very useful in helping me consider design placement for stripes.
    I noticed you didn't mention bold diagonal stripes.
    Please, what if i was trying to make diagonal bold stripes using a printed vertical stripes fabric. What would i need to keep in mind?

    • @jori7398
      @jori7398 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I think the bias cut will make it hang a bit differently on the body… but I’m not sure.

    • @LTRLtrend
      @LTRLtrend  17 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      This is a very good question! If you have a diagonal bold stripe you want to be matching your side seams as much as possible. It can be difficult to execute because you will need to make sure when you cut your seam line matches with the corresponding seam line (NOT CUT LINE)... but it is so worth it because it will look high-end. Sorry this reply is so late, best of luck cutting and sewing this project.

      Hi, are you referring to the mitten pattern on my "buy me a coffee" site? You can download it after you make a donation of 1$ (this pattern was only available for a short time during Xmas in 2021). If you do make this... I would love to hear how it goes. And of course, I have a tutorial on how to make this, here: th-cam.com/video/P7zN4kvesoA/w-d-xo.html Thanks for your love and support!!!

    How to correct an uneven plaid for a quilt? 7:40 ct

    • @LTRLtrend
      @LTRLtrend  17 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I have very limited experience of quilting (because this is a whole different world), but you may want to consider placing your uneven plaid repeat in the same direction. Unless you want to get creative and place the stripe in different directions... that is up to you.

    Your blazer is longer on the right. Was this a matching problem? I’m asking because I want to sew a plaid jacket

    • @LTRLtrend
      @LTRLtrend  17 วันที่ผ่านมา

      This was a vintage blazer. Not sure I noticed the longer on the right side, do you mean the over lap for the button extension?

    • @LilChi1964
      @LilChi1964 17 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Yes, at the bottom of the jacket underneath the button.
