this was great! i'm wanting to do a budget trip to Japan, and i was looking for some real info, not a random rich kid who is surprised that they only spent $200 per night on hotels lol i love budget travel. i actually just did a month long trip to Hawaii for my birthday and spent around 120,000yen for the whole trip including plane tickets. i camped the whole time, foraged and caught most of my food, and was given or traded for a lot of things i needed. my goal was to do everything for $1,000 and i easily did it. it was a lot of fun and i want to do the same type of thing in Japan, but with a bike instead of on foot, and i think i will probably have to not include the plane tickets in the $1,000 budget lol. but ya, you shared more realistic numbers than most people do, and i really appreciate it. you got my sub

yes they do! they usually have an all flat cushion room and that's where I've been sleeping some nights
