    A very interesting video, I have the Kaweco Brass Sports and the travellers Brass pen that I take with me whenever I go on vacation, I love the patina that these pens get.
    I have just bought a very beautiful Kaweco Green Celluloid LE Ballpen that was made in association with Visconti using a fabulous green marbled material, it is one of the most beautiful finishes I have seen.

      Meanwhile, since the long ago making of this video I acquired that Green Celluloid set. And I agree, the material is just gorgeous.

    I bought the same Dlike brass pen but in Amazon. It was relatively inexpensive and I'm been pleasantly surprised of how good pen is so far. It's very well made, the cap sealed is excellent because I inked iy a month ago and still writes the first time I uncapped it, and the converter connects securely without any play in the nib section. The Dlike nib is more like a western F or EF, I would have preferred more like a Japanese F, however it writes smoothly. A shame I haven't found a clip to install in the cap like the Kaweko Lilliput.
    The travelers brass pen really interest me but so far I haven't found it at the right price, neither the Kaweko Brass Sport or the Lilliput.
    Thank you for the video.

      I ordered it a few weeks ago out of curiosity and it appeared that this is my pen grail. Dlike EF nib writes very nice out-of-the-box. And it's quite ergonomic even I do not post. Now this is my EDC for journalling.

    I bought the same Delike Brass model in this video and also a shorter version of it ( with a flat top) a few weeks ago here in India.. I found a darker version of Delike Brass advertised as ‘Vintage Brass’ and bought it just a couple of days ago.
    So at least 3 different Delike Brass models are still available in India. All these are decent writers and offer excellent value for money..

      How much is the size of the darker pen? I wanted to buy the pen shown at 1st in this video (shorter version, moonman delike) but it's unavailable on Amazon since about a month. Please suggest me from where can I buy it!

      @@dhillonjatt5197 Darker pen is of the exact same dimensions as the regular brass version (seen in this video).

    I have a few brass pens. I regret not buying the PenBBS model since it is now difficult to find. It is interesting to see how the colours vary and I don't just mean the patina. Some are a highly polished bright raw brass colour whereas others have a dull antique brass shade.
    On a slightly different subject, have you considered filming a 'behind the scenes' look at your OdE channel? It would be nice to see how you film your pen videos. Just an idea.

    • @jamesaritchie1
      @jamesaritchie1 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There's a big difference in the quality of the brass, too. Most Chinese brass wouldn't even be listed as brass in the west. In a way, though, this difference in quality is a god thing because despite these differences the brass is still more than strong enough for a fountain pen, and gives you a variety of colors before it patinas.

    • @OdE-ObjectosdeEscrita
      @OdE-ObjectosdeEscrita  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, the PenBBS disapeared very quickly. The color variations is a thing I like too in metal pens. Oxidation mainly but also the finish, like the different shades of titanium.
      It has been a long time since this video and your comment. The behind the scenes would have been really interesting. But since then so much changed that my "recording studio" is not interesting at all and there is too much chaos around...

      Should not. It has different properties and it is better for hand held devices (corrosion resistance). There are also pure copper pens but they should not be mixed with brass.

      Brass and copper is anti bacterial so... well... wash your hand before eating

    • @jamesaritchie1
      @jamesaritchie1 ปีที่แล้ว

      Brass and copper are not only anti-bacterial but are also used to make cups and the like because drinking water from them also offers health benefits. Stainless steel is neutral. Aluminum is safe enough, but I wouldn't cook in aluminum kitchenware, and I wouldn't drink from an aluminum cup. It's yet unproven, but there may be a link between aluminum and Alzheimer's. It's certain that extremely small pieces of aluminum can pass through the blood/brain barrier and cause severe problems, including death.
      There is certainly no danger in using aluminum pens, but it's just as certain that aluminum offers zero health benefits.

    • @jamesaritchie1
      @jamesaritchie1 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@sathishrao7926 I love that smell, and the brass is anti-bacterial, so that smell means you're helping your heath. Bacteria often gets in the body from hand to mouth transfer, so think about that when you smell brass on your hands.

    • @Stormcloakvictory
      @Stormcloakvictory ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's quite safe unless you put the pen in your mouth for hours on end.
      As previously stated, it's anti-microbial/disinfectant.
      So in some ways it's even sorta "good"
      You don't have to worry much about residual on your hands, it's usually oxidized already anyway.
      It's more so about clean, fresh brass or copper that you need to worry slightly.

    Its funny because they selling *Brass* like some sort of premium material, while literally almost all metal fountain pens are indeed Brass, they are just lacquered or painted to hide the dirty and smelly brass...

    • @robiulahmed
      @robiulahmed 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Truth be told, it may as well be a premium material, since most fountain pens are made of plastic, including Mont Blanc.

    • @jamesaritchie1
      @jamesaritchie1 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Well, no, not really. Brass is neither dirty nor smelly. Saying it's dirty is just silly and you should know better. And you may not like the smell, but many, most of us, love it which is why quality brass pens sell so well.
      They cover the brass because they use such cheap brass that no one could tell it's brass by looking at it. There's brass, and then there's good brass. Chinese brass is extremely low quality. Most of it that's covered looks like stainless steel, and it dents very, very easily. And if you've ever removed the finish from a Pilot Metropolitan you know it uses a low-grade brass, too. There simply isn't any reason to use high quality brass if you're going to cover it up with a finish.
      The brass they use is actually cheaper than using aluminum, which MANY metal pens use. There are more aluminum bodied pens on the market than brass pens, and if they cover the "brass" with anything, you're buying very, very, very low-quality brass.
      When you do get higher quality brass in Chinese pens, it will be very, very thin. Scrap brass is only a couple of dollars per pound, but you never know the quality, and brass is not easy to work with, so most companies use it sparingly, and thinly, and the pens will usually be round and have no facets.
      There are cheats to this, ways of making a lousy brass look like high quality brass, which is why you can sometimes find Kaweco Brass Sport clones for three or four dollars. But don't be fooled. You really do often get what you pay for, and this is almost always true of brass.
      You may not like brass pens, but most of us love them, if they use high quality brass. By the sales numbers, you are in a very small minority.

    • @Stormcloakvictory
      @Stormcloakvictory ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Brass is 90% copper.
      Copper is a pretty expensive metal, much more so than steel.
      Buy 1 ton of copper, vs 1 ton of steel and you'll see it is multiple times as expensive.

    • @Cortesevasive
      @Cortesevasive ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Stormcloakvictory . What I could find is that brass is sth like 50-90 percent copper. Also for 50g pen material cost for copper would be sth like 1USD and for steel more like 0,1USD which sounds irrelevant for a pen which costs much more, where nib unit alone is sth like 20USD.
      What I understand brass is softer and easy to machine unlike stainless steel. We can see ironically that for instance Kaweco sport stainless steel is more expensive than Kaweco sport brass...

    • @OdE-ObjectosdeEscrita
      @OdE-ObjectosdeEscrita  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I think brass is just a popular material for pen making and there are a lot of people who like metal pens that tarnish over time, such as brass, copper or silver.
