- Few of the historical sources tell us that the building was the administrative hub of Venad Kings. Eraniel Palace holds architecture and masterpiece. Padmanabhapuram Palace was constructed in 1601 and so the King Ravi Varma Kulashekhara moved the seat of power from Eraniel Palace to the new palace. Later, the Eraniel Palace was served as the second capital of the city. Some of the major personalities who played a important role in the palace include Veluthampi Dalawa, Marthanda Varma Maharaja and much more.

Without knowing the history of Kanyakumari you have posted false messages......Chera Perumalhal were the original Chera rulers.Nadars are the descendents of Chera Perumalhal ànd the original Sons Of Kanyakumari Soil. But, Velu Thambi Dalawa was an intruder .He was not a Tamilian.He and this Eranial Palace were no way related to ancient Chera Dynasty......Venadu rulers captured the Chera kingdom through back door using cheap tactics....Dalawa was an agent for the Malayala Thiruvithangur Samasthan. Dalawa levied burdensome super taxes on the Tamil communities and followed harsh and inhuman methods to collecting taxes like chopping off limbs and beating the victims tied to tripod. Dalawa snatched away the rights and properties of the Tamils through a system called Kandezhuthu.Lands procured by killing Nadars were called Chaakkudi. Lands procured after driving away the Nadars were accounted as Pokkudi. In such lands Dalawa established Nayar settlements. Land records were defected and transformed into Ammachi Veed (Padmanabapuram palace), Thangachi Veed and Devadanam. The condition of the other Tamil communities like Sambavar and Mukkuvar was still worse. But nowadays some fringe elements are trying to portrait Dalawa as a Hero and Son of Kanyakumari Soil by hiding the truths of events and facts of Kanyakumari District history.....Seeking Dalawa's house to declare as monument is not acceptable and condemnable.

First know about dalawa, one of your opinion he is against other communities.
Fact: Dalawa was opposed by nair pada or nair regiment for his pro government and strict policies.
Second your point is he levied tax against communities.
Fact: he took charge as dalawa when travancore was into falling bankrupt. He implemented strict policies to bring back the economy.
Third your opinion is he is pro nair.
Fact: never he was against all types of ecnomic problems. He annexed many temples handled by Nair's and handled it towards travancore kingdom.
Fourth you are of the opinion that he shouldn't be respected.

12 years before I went there... I noticed some more thing inside. ##There is a tree at the entrance, with a big hole to climb up above the tree. Olden days solders will be hiding in that tree to defend there Palace.
## There is a room for Maharaja in that ceiling is made of single rock above rock they pour water to keep room cool.
## The pond which you shown first is used only for Princess to take bath.
These are all told by some old people near to Palace. So sad that it got more damage now. Thanks for remembering my olden days Memories.
