Thanks. I'll have to check this out. My wife took her 21 to the dealer and they claimed a $2,500 roof rack replacement was needed to fix her leak. It is just past the warranty period, so out of pocket. I saw another video where older outbacks were leaking into the passenger floorboard from the HVAC duct/ blower motor intake that is under the shield that is below the wipers outside the car.

My 2015 has been leaking and sloshing on the passenger side. I looked at the area you mentioned and noticed one of the plastic grommets was missing. I put some Gorilla tape on it and am praying it makes a difference. Thanks for giving me some hope on this! I poured some water into the wiper drains and it then trickles down in a steady stream right over the exact spot I put the tape.

Hey man, thank you for posting this. Having the same issue in our 2022 Outback as well.
Did you ever get this resolved?

Mine is a 2020 outback touring model. The dealership said they fixed mine by claiming they found a plastic straw in my sunroof. Bullocks !!! It’s still taking on water !!

The same here, my2022, after every rain. Sunroof already changed, without solving the problem. They try to repair it since 7 month.

    OK, but what’s the fix??

This is a design flaw. If Subaru won’t fix it for you. You’d need to take out the fender liner, take off the side skirt, remove the plugs to drain the water (there are likely one or two along the rocker panel), and make sure the rocker panel is free of any debri or dirt inside. When dirt and debri get inside the rocker panel it clogs the drain holes. There may also be a lack of panel bond/sealant where the fender well meets the rocker about midway toward the bottom of the car so water is back flowing inside the rocker panel. I’ve been watching several other videos showing this on TH-cam. Looks like it’s been an issue with Subaru for over 15 years now. So not likely going to get fixed by the manufacturer any time soon. Good luck with it!

Having the same issue but that isnt the reason. That hole is just a missing grommet for the wheel well cover. It covers the exterior of the chassis and is not open to the interior of the car. I know I just pulled it apart and removed the protector also which leads to the door opening area.
If you put a grommet in the there it won't improve the leak sadly
The water from your sunroof drain comes down a tube inside the A column on both sides and leads into that chassis cavity and drains out under the car. Should not happen from water on the windscreen though as that should drain through the body work.
Seems like you may have bad welds from your video and that could be the issue.
One reason for water leakage is a blocked AC tube but your car is too new for that to be the cause.
Could you post about how this was fixed as im sure it would be helpful for others.
Still can't find the cause of the leak on my Gen 5 Outback Limited and ive torn the thing apart!
    Good luck mate

Yeah I stupidly had all my work papers and mail on my passenger seat floor and it's all destroyed now. At first I thought maybe this was because it rained the other day, but some of the other video I watched says it's a hose right below the glove compartment there's a little cover with two or three plastic clips that you could remove and the hose could be clogged or have a rip... This just looks like a freaking gutter system..
    Get a petition going lol

any update on this? we have a us-spec 2016 impreza and have the same exact issue. just noticed a few days after some heavy rains. i pulled the carpet about as much as you did and saw the same amount of water.
i’ve already checked what most recommended, but to no avail: HVAC drain pipe, sunroof drain, missing sill plugs, etc.

@@adamski463 no... unbelievale. they said the problem was having some leaves on the sun roof.. that I should park it indoors a4x4 can't park outside? I put some tape to try to keep the sun roof protected and never opened it. It solved for a while but ultimately I decided to sell it....
