They definitely made some terrible choices with some of the characters but I think the biggest problem was jamming everything in to 6 episodes when it should have been more like 16 episodes worth of material at least.

Usually when actors have chemistry it translates to the screen… unless you have incompetent showrunners. I wasn’t as weirded out as a lot of fans but some scenes between them were definitely awkward (and not just because they were aunt and nephew). This was refreshing to see. They get along so well.
It’s not always easy to translate a platonic friendship in real life to a romantic one onscreen, especially if they were already friends before being made to play romantic partners. I’m 100% certain that if I had to act out a romantic scene with one of my longtime female friends, it would be insanely awkward to perform.
Their friendship is so pure. Literally every friendship between got casts are, be it kit emilia, nick and gwen, kit maise sophie, sophie maise, peter lena, kit john. They are all adorable off screen
