Very informative, I wish I had seen this a month ago before I paid almost £500 in labour costs to get this job done. I decided to do it myself next time, and your excellent video just confirms that decision.
I could be wrong, I’m always open for discussion, but if these are Volvo IPS pods, then I think you’re checking the oil wrong. Here’s what it says from the manual. an excerpt from the workshop manual: Remove the dipstick (2) by turning it anti-clockwise. "Dry off the dipstick and reinstall it in the propulsion unit, screw it into place. Remove the oil dipstick again and check the oil level. The correct oil level is inside the marked area".
You are very articulate! Would love to see a similar video on outboard engines
Great video, thanks and keep 'em coming. 😊

Great video! What is your take on IPS drive reliability? Debating PODS vs straight shafts in my next boat
Great video
Very nice and informativ !!
Nice work - just subscribed - Cheers
I've just looked up the price of that oil🤬
Really good upload ,thanks.
Informative
Although not preferable, if a haul out isn't in the cards could the oil be sucked out via the dipstick tube ?

Distinction without a difference.
Can you pump the oil out through the top of the IPS POD if the post is in the water?
Yes you can, you just risk not pulling contaminants out that have settled at the bottom.
AN Allen key!! Not 'a' Allen key!!!!
