And yu want to have his babies too, huh???
      🤔🤔🤔🤷‍♂️🤔🤔🤔
Glenn Mills is *unequivocally* the *GOAT COACH!* His athletes have won an *enviable* 33 Olympic and 71 World Championship medals(and multiple World Records)!!
You could swing from Franno's nuts (like Tarzan), until you're blue in the face, and swill copious amounts of the mvp koolaid until it's oozing through you ears!!
Yu caan change or take away what Coach Glen has done and continue to do!!!!

@@woodism203 if there’s 1 thing I realize about Jamaicans the majority of you have the brain of a Rockin horse! The truth is a offence but it’s not a lie! Glen mills received more natural talents than any coach in Jamaica, how many female Olympic champion have glen mills developed? Bolt is a freak of nature and bolt is Jamaica first Olympic and world champion gold medalist for Jamaica Shelly Ann is Jamaica first Olympic gold medalist since 2008 Francis and mvp is responsible for all the Olympic 100m gold medals that’s a fact ! Why is it hard to give someone credit for developing athletes who didn’t even make a finals at champs to become world record holders and Olympic and world champion? Let me take a guess who u gonna say found and developed those athletes? God ? Lol 😂

The same Jamaicans you're now feverishly trying to disassociate and disparage with yu ad hominem, logical fallacy garbage/BS!!
My youth, yu doan understand yu self! And it's apparent that the licklle *Occidental* degree you have (from some third rate institution), sadly, has left you with a false sense of bigotry and self hate?!
Answer me this, yu think that you're better than the average Jamaican just because, huh???

So much contradiction in this 1 statement. If bolt was a freak of nature, why then didn’t the coach prior to miles get him to run the times he did when with mills. In any event this really ought not to be a Francis v mills argument for the truth is they are both damn good coaches in their own right. Saying one is good doesn’t therefore mean that the other is no good. Both deserve the props

He is a great track coach in Jamaica. Bob Kersey has trained his wife Jackie Joyner Kersee, Florence Griffith Joyner, A to Bolden and Sydney Mclaughlin. There are a few great track athletic coaches out there. Darn Jamaica the country just recently became relevant in track and field in the last 20 years and you just brag and brag!! American sprinters have been relevant for decades. 1936, 1960 etc... And stood for many including Jamacians in World Wars and during civil rights movements. I am proud and happy but pace yourself. When Cubans started winning in boxing they didn't start talking sh*t about American boxers. Welcome to the conversation. Now what other sports will you guys start to get involved in??

Let me translate Mr. Francis' answer at 21.42 . He is giving some knowledge on the business of track and field that many may miss. The times people run and races they win outside of global championships is irrelevant. Strong words but it's something i stress to my kids. What Mr. Francis is saying applies to the high school level as well. When an athlete, take a male athlete for example who runs 10.1 sec at age 17 while in High school, what's the benefit of that time to the athlete? In order to run that time, it requires a lot of training and pressure on the legs to get the body to run 10.1 at 17. Many of these said athletes cannot matriculate and run 9.8 at 22 or 23 where running such times as a pro at a major championship will be beneficial - EARNING!!!.
He said something else that people may not understand, when you win or medal, it is imperative that the athlete maintains form and is able to reproduce in subsequent years. Why? It's the nature of how one gets paid well in track and field. As the champion or major contender who has medal to show, you command appearance fees and endorsements that are higher than the base but you have to have to maintain, otherwise those endorsement and appearance fees dry up. Unlike other sports such as basketball where a top draft pick is signed to a multimillion dollar contract before he makes a basket at the pro level, You have to win in track and field to get paid and you have to win at major championship before you earn real money.
The points he made about the things that can improve the sport are also spot on. Mr. Francis is not only a great coach, but also a great business mind in track and field. A genius.

Interesting comments. I agree with most except that athletes have to win major Championships to earn real money. Doesn't Asafa Powell's career disprove that? He's never medal in any individual event at Olympics. Finished..5th, 5th, 8th.
Best World Championship result was a Bronze. And those are the top 2 major track events. All wins & most of his sub 10s came at lesser events

Excellent interview. I’m so impressed by this man and how his vision has done us proud as a nation. What Stephen Francis has done for us is to put a stop to the darn US commentators who would never give our athletes props as having had a solid athletic foundation but would only refer to him or her as being from an American university! That used to make me so furious as early as the 80’s when watching the Olympics it would be incidental that the superb Jamaican athlete is Jamaican, but rather a product of the American University system. Thanks for taking that away from them Franco and Mr. Mills when both the fastest man and woman were “home grown “ and that couldn’t be their “go to”! Too bad that some of our athletes are still so foreign minded and don’t see value in having the greatest coaches in the world. But mek dem gwaan! Didn’t he say that he’s taken persons that others didn’t see as great and they’ve excelled? Hmmmm!
I’m also extremely impressed by his attitude in graciously letting go of the superstars and always ready to mine new talent and give these emerging talented ones a chance.

People are always so quick to throw out the word ‘greatest.’ He is definitely one of the best track coaches in the world but Im not sure we have evaluated all the data since the beginning of olympics and world chamionships to say greatest. But he is certainly phenomenal and one of the best! Also bear in mind no matter how ‘great’ a coach may be they do need an excellent support team as well. Its never a one person job to garner that level of success.

I understand why shelly and elaine left now...but I am shocked to hear the condition this man trains in...what is going on witht that? This man should be a track and field king and treated like that, he should have a top class facility right now and not training new talent in the conditions he speaks about. That is just sad and seems like he is being taken for granted. If I was in the position I would be doing everything to make sure this man has the best of the best, because he could easily coach for millions in the US if he wanted to.

People leave schools, churches, wife, husband, deals, jobs. Once it's done with grace it's all good. People are always hurt during a breakup. The question is not so people have the right to leave. But was it a good move? If she says it's a good move then so it is.

Yes and no. Athletes have a right to go where they are comfortable and happy, so in that sense I completely agree with you. However, the sponsors will also have a say, at the end of the season, whether it was a good move or not. The issue, for me, is not that an athlete leaves a club. However, when you leave the best sprint coach in the world to put your career in the hands of someone who doesn't even have a first certificate in coaching, that decision must be questioned. At least go to someone who is qualified to coach at the elite level and with whom you have a fighting change. Time will tell all, nonetheless.

@@sherwood9917 Some would rather risk the change for the sake of their mental health and well being. It's like leaving an billionaire husband who is emotionally abusive. No one sees the scares because it is within. They see the good life and the potential and judge based on what is obvious. I wish everyone well.

I agree with you. People evolve, and as they do so, their needs and aspirations do so too. When you feel that people are no longer aligning with your hopes and asporations, you grow and move. As you move, you also create space for other people to occupy the position that you once occupied. Shelly-Ann and Elaine worked magic with Franno, and when it was time to transition, they did so. n
