- Padurea Hoia. This is the notorious circle where no trees grow. It is said that this forest is one of the most haunted forests in the world. It's also known as the Romanian Bermuda Triangle.

How far down did they check?
When I heard it described as a portal where no plants grow, I imagined this very interesting area where there was just rock and no plants or something. This is just a clearing. I even see a track where some type of vehicle goes through there. The birds are singing in the forest. They don't seem disturbed. Where I grew up there was a forest of fir trees. They were so densely packed that no light penetrated to the forest floor. The only bird you would hear was the random crow AND there was an abandoned farm house. That was scarier than this.

R Porterfield oh yeah, well my forest had a 1940s house that was falling apart after the family living there abandoned it after a child was found murdered behind their house and would constantly hear crying from a little girl. The house mysteriously burned down after I visited it.

OK, I thought that's what I was seeing as well. These are spots that tend to attract lightening nearby but don't burn due to high moisture. I imagine there may be some sort of stone beneath it that is high in metal of some sort. (I don't know rocks and minerals but I imagine there being a bit of a magnetic pull that tends to throw people and animals off. Tends to make me feel ill at ease (maybe because I'm so exposed) but also a bit nauseous (mold?) not sure but feeling paranoid in a clearing doesn't seem unrealistic.
There are deer that would graze that little clearing.

same. not very intimidating.... If you want to be scared of a "blasted hearth" scenario, you should read The Color Out of Space. Its a short story by H.P Lovecraft. Its really creepy and one of his best in my opinion.

I find the story about the forrest interesting but we got shitloads of circles like this in Sweden. we use them or drifting with our volvos ^^

It looks like the location where the Fellowship’s about to break, then Boromir subtlety talks to Frodo, has a speech, chases after him to try to take the ring, then trips on a large stone!
And this may have been one of the spots where Tolkien imagined the story that he created! After was the ring was destroyed by one of the three Hobbits, all the so enchantment was lost. So, if, if there were Rowan trees here in real-life in extremely advanced pre-historic times, then they were destroyed somehow, and that’s why this forest is haunted; the Rowan trees protected people from evil!
This could be in an excellent future X-Files episode! Do they know how long this forest has been around? What other paranormal experiences have people had here?

Zak from "Ghost Adventures" had a bizarre reaction while stepping outside the range of that circle. Continues to fascinate as to what exactly he experienced. Like he FREAKED OUT!! You could hear this electronic sounding humming noise at that exact time. Then he got sick the next day.

that might be connected to the humming or trumpet noises everyone started hearing around the world last year. theyre on youtube, just dont listen to them, it has to do with vibrations, and apparently it makes u succeptible to posession.

I actually did encounter something after I left the circle! Nothing paranormal though (unfortunately). A small deer rushed in front of my eyes and around ten seconds later a group of wild growling dogs were passing by, chasing their "food".
Too bad I missed the strangely shaped trees. Guess I have to go back another time :-)

Hmm, I don't know if that is unfortunate or not.I mean, as much as this sort of stuff fascinates me, I don't think I would actually like to witness some of the paranormal that goes on within this forest. I've heard that some people have actually experienced time travel and many other weird incidents. However, I do agree with that. The strangely shaped trees are a must-see :)
Well, if you do decide to go again, make sure you're brave enough. It could be this time that you experience stuff you really don't want to :D

Umm...this circle isn't the notorious one. The one has no vegetation, and is a WHOLE lot smaller. Still, this is interesting. After doing a lot of reading, I applaud you in wandering in their alone. only grass grows because its the first plant to have grown on earth and therefore was already there when the circle was created. the circle was created to keep things out therefore the trees are unable to grow there
Does anyone know exactly where the 'circle' is lo? I've looked at a few maps, but if I'm seeing the 'circle' it doesn't look like it's deep in the forest.

We have something similar in North Carolina called the Devil's Tramping Ground. It's much smaller, but also much more bare.
This is not the real forest that circle is not supposed to be that small it is supposed to be much larger x4 of the cricle we just saw so that means this guy faked it and tried to fool us.

A five year old girl disappeared there for five years. She returned with no recollection of what happened while she was lost in the forest for five years, and was wearing the same (clean) clothing. Creepy to me.

I'm underwhelmed by this. It's nice that someone went out, and took a look around, but there doesn't seem to be much informational content. For instance, how do we know it's a "circle"? How about an aerial view? Or even some geometric measuring?
It is plain that there are plants growing in the area, circular or not. Are grasses an exemption from any spooky herbicidal effects? The greyish areas look like they may have been made by the removal of trees. Why no close-up on one of those?
There are only two clearings on Google Earth neither are perfect circles. If you Google the circle the picture it shows would show up on any satellite photos, but nothing is in that forest resembles the Google photo at all.

I should note that these trees are extremely distrustful of man. Moreso perhaps than anywhere else I''ve ever seen. You can feel their anxiety when you enter the forest. The trees are watching you. They don't want you there. A power resides in the forest. I am getting chills watching video, something is emanating from those trees that is different. They have power like I have never seen a forest wield.

If I'm coming here as a tourist what are my rights of coming here is it opened at night time or do you have to seek permission if you REALLY are desperate to figure out if there are spirits use a ouija board. Ouija board is a link between the physical and spirit realm and could open up a portal if the link is strong enough but be warned of the dangers. Ouija board is not a game it is a communication device to speak with the dead and is affordable equipment for ghost hunting. If anyone has used a spirit board on this place let me know just don't attract a demon or evil spirit by mistake.
