Eh, I'm quite opposed to the obsession over graphics that some people no doubt exercise. If you ask me that's one of the reasons why games like The Day Before are able to fool people. As if good graphics and using UE5 would instantly equal good game. I can only keep saying that the most enjoyable, mechanically deepest games I know aren't even full 3D. There is a reason people used to keep recommending Project Zomboid whenever The Day Before was the topic. Personally I get eye strain or downright eye cancer from all these hyperrealistic, gloomy, GPU-melting, sort of bland games you see a lot nowadays. I prefer a more stylistic approach like 90% of the time.

You know I was after this period of gaming by maybe 5 years but I do think this was the best era of gaming. This was when every studio was trying to make actually fun games that were unique instead of relying on the popularity of the name. It seems like during this period you had to innovate because you were the first person to do it so everything or a lot of the games were completely unique and new. Even if not done the best we have these games to thank for everything we have now

One thing I vividly remember about this game when I was growing up was that there were several missions where you did not actually get an evac from the combat zone and you had to proceed to the next mission with the same health and equipment you had left over from the last mission which I thought was super cool and I haven't seen many FPS games in particular practice this since then. I can understand where that might frustrate a player if you don't expect it, but I found it very novel.

This game is possibly the most underrated multiplayer experience I came across in my 33 years as a gamer.
Not only the engaging amount of tension and strategies that takes to take down a tank, where cooperation is key, but the freedom to decide wether your comrades die or survive the mission (having as downside a substitution new character with zero xp as downside) by risking it all to save his injured butt or leave with the chopper with the others not to go through the mission again is so involving I feel I haven’t played a true multiplayer game since then. Best coop ever

@19:06 perhaps so since this was only the first game in the series of this format but if you look at the Desert Storm 2 Sequel Back to Baghdad and also the game they made of the Steve McQueen film The Great Escape (Even though you don't use guns on every level also involves more stealth and subterfuge) and then up to and through Conflict Vietnam and Conflict global terror you can see how they added new mechanics. Over the span of each different game you can see the changes they made to improve it. One exception in the Great Escape is each mission you only play as one character and since you're an escaping POW you literally start with nothing.
In desert storm 2 you could even peek around corners and then in The Great Escape although not part of the conflict series followed similar format they added the ability to peek above and behind with a camera system. Kinda took it back to the desert storm 2 approach in the Vietnam one to where you can only perk left or right but they added the ability to quick throw sub weapons such as frag grenades smoke grenades White Phosphorus (aka Willie Pete) Grenades (Phosphorus grenades were added to the second Desert Storm game too)
And finally by the time you get to Global Terror they even changed the enemy AI and gave the ability to shoot around corners while peeking and the enemy doesn't just stay in one spot while shooting. Global Terror was the last to be released on the PS2 era along with GameCube and or whatever Gen of XBoX was newest whenever PS2 was current gen but I do recall there being another Conflict Game on PS3 called Denied Ops I never got to experience that one though.

The saga of Conflict was and is amazing. Soo much guns, you can pick up the enemy guns or from the field, the diferent tipe of missions(Best missions, the helicopter crash missions, in the 3 of them), the character been good friends at war. For my this game was like SOCOM, but with good character, like Full Spectrum Warrior. And in third game, Conflict Global Storm or Terror, Foley the sniper of the team is MIA in the first mission, and then you have a new character, Carrie Sherman, a light sniper, more mobility and with smgs. Dame, in the 2000s, they put a woman replacing an all time liked character in her own saga and is not forced and is not like now days like The Lust Of Us, and Carrie becames liked, not like Abbie. All the characters have like a evolution in the 3, the story was more important and not only normal war, the guns were more varied, and the maps have normaly a theme, then in the 4 is supoust to be rescueing Foley and a game not only with 4 suadmates, with 5, 2 snipers, 1 assasult, the enginier and 1 heavy. Such a great game, and a shame that the 3 ends with a To be continue...

The Conflict series was so good (not Vietnam or Denied Ops). The ability to order your squad or swap to directly control them and their different loadouts was awesome. Vietnam was okay, IMO, but it really felt a little rushed in places. Like how the manual has references to a few weapons that were cut or never actually implemented, and it really does feel like the reskin of the Desert Storm games it is.
Denied Ops, though, oof. Clearly trying to cash in on FPS games starting to really take off and then managed to land in 2008. Three months after Call of Duty 4. And basically saying "hey that sequel hook in the previous game where the whole team was gonna go save Foley? Nah, here he is as like an optional sidequest or whatever while you're playing two other random CIA dudes he doesn't even know who had no idea he was even there"

I've Loved This Game, I've played it when I was 13 years old. And still today at my 33 years old still have the game both of them, my favorite the 2nd One (CONFLICT DESERT STOM II because also had the SAS) very well kept with other games of the same era.

So much nostalgia for me with this game. It’s also one of the games that helped me learn English back then.

Growing up, I mostly played Delta Force and Operation Flashpoint: Cold War Crisis and haven't played Ghost Recon 2001, SWAT 4, or the early Rainbow Six games until a few years ago, and I can confidently say that those games are more tense and rewarding than whatever passes for a tactical shooter these days. I would love to get my hands on a PS2 or an emulator to try the SOCOM series.

Grew up with Delta Force/Task Force Dagger/BHD. I remember playing Conflict: DS with a bud on his gamecube.

I really love the chocolate chip camo, and i think its down to these early games depicting the Desert in Storm in 1991 and Iraq in 2002 (i believe)
The camo just looks so..90's in a weird way. I really loved the Conflict games growing up. Conflict Vietnam was my favourite of them all. The main hub where you could just run around and listen to music from that era. I thought it was the most genious thing ever. A remake would be really appreciated with todays technology, such great games man.

I know I'm late to the party with this video but two things about this game I remember was that I loved it cause it felt sorta like the OG Ghost Recon and I also remember feeling vastly inferior to my squad mates to the point that I would just post them up places and let them aim bot kill everything while I controlled one guy to sneak around and complete objectives. I loved this game and now kinda wanna break out the ole XBox

I remember discovering this great game on xbox back in the days thanks to the demo disc! Today I still own and love this game despite the dated and clunky controls, managed to beat it on hardest difficulty last year for the first time also heh!

Me and my brother would just use foley and Jones to get all of the stealth kills effectively. I love this game so much I don’t even want it to be remastered.
