    So it looks like you can only land a 12 AWG conductor to the terminal/lug. Why then does Enphase sell Q-Cable wired in series, but prevent installers from doing the same with field-wireable connectors??? These proprietary connectors are just another "squeeze the customer" way to extract money for the inverter product. Sad.

      Hello! Great question! Answer: It does not matter. L1/L2 designations are arbitrary. In a single/split-phase system, they are equal, and opposite, i.e., they are 180 degrees out of phase. The Enphase microinverter outputs synchronize with whichever incoming utility phase (L1 or L2) they are connected to in the main service panel.
