Sheep Farming: How We Feed Our Sheep

Today at Ewetopia Farms, we go through the various ways we feed our sheep. We have many groupings of sheep housed in different shelters on the farm. Each group of sheep is fed using a specific type of feeder best suited for the barn it is located in. All the different types of sheep feeders are also specifically designed for the sheep that are using them and more often than not, serve multiple functions besides simply feeding sheep. Most of our feeders are built and designed by us through years of trial and error. We discuss why we have chosen the designs we have, what we like about them, and what we don't like about them. We also show you feeders we use and/or have used and why we don't prefer them.
Sheep and sheep farming is our passion and we hope that the love we have for what we do is obvious to you the viewers. Our operation is a large scale, purebred seed stock sheep farm combining the best of pasture and confinement to manage the flock for maximum comfort, minimal stress, and producing a consistent, very high quality product.

Arnie I am just in awe of your skills in designing, welding and using the feed troughs in all barns. They are so well thought out and fit perfectly. Wish I could have seen the build. Plenty of welding irons used.

Good morning Arnie and Lynn. A lovely day on the farm. Great explanation of how you feed all of your sheep with safety top of the list. So fun to see all those lively lambs right at the start. They are growing and developing their personalities. There are some real cuties in the group. Sheep really do pay attention to things going on around them. Just makes me smile when they are looking with such sweet faces as if asking you what is happening and is it for me.😊. Arnie is very good with his fix it skills. Looks like he likes to have fun as well. Then ending with the very handsome rams is perfect. Gladiator was standing so proud and Gimli is adorable. You both have a great day. Big hugs. 🥰🥰

Super well designed feeders! I really think your setup is super smart and space efficient! Nice that you were able to reuse the blue feeders in with the lambs. So cool that Arnie is able to do those fine adjustments to the spacing.

We bought one marweld feeder the same as your using for the lambs, and all the ewes stand in the Manger and eat over the top. I think it will graduate to a lamb creep feeder as well. Great video👏

We do not inbreed or line breed. We have a large selection of unrelated rams. At breeding time, all ewes are scanned then put in a breeding group with a ram who is unrelated. What are your thoughts on it? We have bought off farms that do a lot of line breeding. It is not the route we want to go - intentionally anyway
