    That main square would be an ideal place for a market. Glad you were able to see palm trees. We may take them for granted being from Florida. We have seen those free public libraries, but usually not a large selection like the one you found. Decathlon is a great sports shop. We need to find one to get some new athletic socks lol.

      Palm trees to an Englishman is kinda like snow to you Floridians!! 😂😂. Yes I bet there's some good markets on that square, it did seem a nice place for it.

    Very nice video. You could have named it ’St Raphaël - Port Fréjus’. Both places are known to be busy on summer evenings : St Raph for its markets (mornings/nights) and Port-Fréjus for its night life. I used to love spending some long week-ends at the spa on the beach of Port-Fréjus. There is both the view on the palmtrees beach and the red rock mountains behind. Marvellous.
    As it seems you were there on a week day in june, you could enjoy it all for yourself. Well done.

      Thanks Isabelle, that's a great idea about the title. I have gone ahead and changed it! It certainly was a lovely area, I only found it because I passed through between Nice and Saint Tropez - it looked very pleasant so I decided to explore a bit before heading off. Sounds like you've had some good times down that way . Thanks for watching!

    What a beautiful place! I like it that it's so nice and quiet, the beach is so peaceful! Where are all the people? I like places with not many people.

      Yeah the streets were deserted, I guess most of the people were in the larger and more famous towns and villages along the Côte d'Azur - they're really missing out on these quieter spots!

      Starting in July and certainly throughout August the place will be packed with holidaymakers. June is out of season down there.

    4:17 "Saw what looked like a little tower" From those few words, I knew you'd take us in the direction of it, though very surprised we didn't end up with a tour inside. Was it shut? Loved the umbrella street, very pretty. I love how you were allowed to just wander around the marina like that. I know so many that have locked doors and you only get a key if you have a boat on the marina. How long did the journey take in total with the train and ferry between Nice and St. Tropez? It looks like it would have been a full-on day!

    • @MattWhitingsEurope

      Yes it was a long one. According to my notes my train from Nice to Saint Raphael left at 7am and took an hour. I then had my breakfast by the sea and waited for the ferry ticket office to open which it did at 9am. The ferry left at 9.30am and took about an hour so a total of 3 hours 30 minutes although only 2 hours of that was actually travelling on a train or boat. So all in all I left the hotel at 06.30am and returned at 11.15pm, a long day considering my flight landed in Nice at 9.30pm the previous evening. I can remember planning it and thinking 'my future self will not be happy with this!'. Turns out at 6am I wasn't but as soon as I got on that boat everything changed. I actually did record a 'how to get from Nice to Saint Tropez' video but never got around to editing it together. Maybe one day if I'm stuck for a video I'll go back and make it.

    Great video. Are there many ferries to Saint tropez per day?

    • @MattWhitingsEurope
      @MattWhitingsEurope  ปีที่แล้ว

      Not that many unfortunately, two a day when I travelled. Here's a bit of info I found online listing the daily ferry times. Hope that helps. www.rome2rio.com/map/Saint-Rapha%C3%ABl-Provence-Alpes-C%C3%B4te-d-Azur-France/Saint-Tropez#r/Ferry/s/0

      @@MattWhitingsEurope Cheers! We watch a ton of travel vlogs and see this shit all the time.

    • @MattWhitingsEurope
      @MattWhitingsEurope  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If it's all the travel vlogs are you sure it isn't the TV? I always adjust my audio to follow an average gain of about minus two decibels which is quite common for online content. The only thing I can do is drop the music tracks by a further 2 decibels and see how that comes out. The audio sounds well balanced on my computer, I'll listen on a TV when I get a chance. Thanks for the feedback.
