I'm impressed that Miracle Works uses precisely all the same chords and stuff, yet manages to feel like a panicked version of this peaceful melody, pretty much all simply by having basically a quadrupled tempo and added percussion.
This game’s sound team is full of actual wizards when it comes to leitmotif usage. I love how the start of this song feels like it’s deliberately homaging the Amaurot motif before going off in its own direction after a few moments.
It's even better because Shadowbringers did almost the exact same thing with Neath Dark Waters and To The Edge. You go from the somber, quiet and depressingly sad piano theme of Neath Dark Waters to the similarly sad, but completely rocking and full of energy rock theme of To The Edge. Both themes even have a clock ticking down, the lyrics of the latter are in the same key of the former's piano notes, and so on.
Hmmm...floating islands....cascading waterfalls....citizens with magic abilities....destroyed by a calamity-like power....where have I seen all this before?
Endwalker will always be one of those moments in a video game where I think the game jumped the shark... ..And then proceeded to nail the landing to cheers and praise. There is never going to be something like Endwalker ever again.
I still can’t believe this was an area in the game. From this to both Sea of Stars areas I was pretty floored though I’m sure the moon was not exactly the biggest surprise.
The Last time i was in awe is when i was introduced to Amarout. Yes not even the moon surprised me because...well it's the moon duh But this..man,I can't tell it topped Amarout but it still got me.
Yeah, I feel like that's what they did. They focused so much on the moon in their promotion to make us feel like that would be the highlight so that when we reach elpis, we're completely caught off guard.
I don't know what it is about Elpis, but I can't stay long there without feeling some kinda of dread, or maybe loss, I just don't like going to that zone
@@ValDCX It being a closed loop is kind of itself inconsistent with ShB's time travel though, where G'raha's actions diverged the timeline into a new direction while his old timeline continued.

Am I the only one who hears the beginning of the Steins;Gate main theme at 0:59? It's probably a coincidence but it kinda fits with the whole time travel into the past with this zone.
I don't know the exact moment, but it's probably been used in Amaurot, The Tempest or one of the related instances (Akadaemia Anyder, Anamnesis Anyder...) The Ancient motifs just keep repeating, it's honestly amazing

Final Fantasy XII also had a floating city (Bhujerba) and I think several other Final Fantasy's did too. I think there are like 3 different studio ghibli movies with cities or castles in the sky, at least one from the 80s (Laputa, Castle in the Sky, and Mary and the Witch's Flower). James Cameron's Avatar also had the floating Hallelujah Mountains.
DEFINITELY caught Similarities between the locale and story behind Elpis and Zeal. Always thought Zeal was fascinating as a story concept so naturally I was sucked in by this too.

From what I could see of the unsundered past in Elpis, it was too perfect and made me feel bored if I was here for too long. This must have been how that last star felt when they achieved perfection in the dead ends dungeon.

Good point! Now that you mention it, even though EW is clearly the FF4 expansion it really does have big Chrono Trigger energy as well.

As much as the questionable time travel doesn't sit right with me, few things top the chills I got when the title card for this zone appeared.
Time travel is done well though. It's a closed loop, there's no inconsistency.
