I want to add a tip here, because it’s something that bugged me for months until I realized there was a solution. When you open the presets window, you may notice that scrolling with the mouse wheel works upside-down: rolling the wheel down takes you up (towards the start of the list) and rolling up takes you down the list. Speaking only for myself, I could never get used to that, and no thanks to whoever thought it was a good idea! (Imagine using a word processor where scrollbars were similarly inverted) Thankfully though, you can restore order by going to the settings (described in Jon’s previous vid in the series). The setting named “Scroll horizontal” needs to be changed to “inverted” - which is not actually inverted, lol, but gets you the regular way, where down is down and up is up 😊 I hope this helps someone out there, because it used to drive me nuts!
Thanks for the tip! it's funny you mention that, because thats something that usually dives me nuts, not particularly in diva but on different laptops when scrolling through pages. On cell phones it makes sense where moving your thumb up makes the page go up, but on laptops, moving fingers downwards makes the page move downwards. that feels most natural to me.
I'll never have distracting music in the background, I never really liked that concept. I try to make each as straight to the point as possible and only as long as they need to me. They are all in bite size chucks so it's easy to navigate to the right video to find the information you need
You're very welcome! That's awesome you made it through the pigments series! That one is pretty lengthy. I hope it was helpful for you. And yuuup here we go with diva!!
... also, You can have 127 sub-folders in the MIDI Programs preset folder, and Diva will respond to MSB messages. This essentially gives you 128 banks of 128 presets for a whopping total of 16,384 presets, which is entirely unnecessary but also pretty cool.
Just recently discovered your channel and loving the videos Jon. Really informative and clear. Regarding this one I really wish U-He would update the option to rename the favourites folders to something more useful such as Bass, Keys etc. Looking forward to the rest in this series. Need to also watch your Pigments series as well. Keep up the good work
Thanks man! and super happy to have you aboard! That might be an easy fix for the guys at u-he to do, it would make sense to be able to change the names, 100% agree with you there. The pigments series is a long one, but I promise you if you can make it though the whole thing, you will feel extremely comfortable in pigments. Its such an in-depth synth while still remaining intuitive the entire time, which makes it one of my all time favorite synths to use. It is literally in every session I work on.
you're very welcome!! I made the FL skin, if you like it and want to use it, I made a video about it that includes a free download th-cam.com/video/N-dbVdhCSIM/w-d-xo.html
im confused about tags, the tag section seems to be full of presets already, so whats the point of making more tags? is it jjst for new presets we buy/download
here is the link for a few different skins, the one I use is called 'Diva Blau'. It's the 15th entry on the list. To install this skin you just replace the 'Panes' folder with the folder that you download from the site. I would suggest to make a copy of the regular 'Panes' folder in case you want to revert back to the original skin u-he.com/PatchLib/skins.html
Great video! But I was actually looking to save the selected Preset into a Clip, so when you launch a clip it will play with that specific preset, and in the same track when I change of Clip with another sound, I want it to play another preset...how do I do that? maybe it's super simple...but I'm missing it, already tried Bank - Sub - Pgm on the clip but doesn't seem to work. Thanks!
@@jonaudio already solved it. Using Ableton, I save the preset into MIDI Preset folder, then on the Clip assign Bank 01 - {leaving Sub empty} and Pgm: 1, 2, 3, etc it will launch the saved sound to the clip, so when changing clips different sounds will activate, this is ideal for a LIVE setup. sorry my bad english. Best!
When you run the diva installer, look at the directory it saves it in and add that directory in the plugin manager and then scan for plugins and it should pop up. Then click the star next to diva on the list of your plugins and it should be available to use in fl

Thankful there's no distracting music in the background. love the rawness.

I just finished your Pigments series, which is really good, and bam, you start a Diva series. You are fantastic, thank you !

Really useful video - subbed 👍
Just picked up Diva and knowing how to use the directory is vital as there are so many patches.
Thanks 😊
Thanks!! And very grateful to have you aboard!!
Diva is such a great synth, you made a good choice!!

dope i was trying to rearrange my preset folders last night
🙄 I'm a bit of a digital hoarder
That's always good to do. Staying organized is half the battle
Thanks for making, such a useful video!!
You're very welcome!
Nice!
Thank you for putting together these tutorials. Where did you get your fl studio skin?

Tags are great to describe your patches in greater detail so you can search a more targeted search
Where do I find that skin? I can't find any skins on their website. A lot of skins mess with the Presets directory pages

I'm having issues installing to use in Fl studio

Ok I'll try it
It's still not working for me
a lot of mambo jumbo but no explanation how to install new presets
You can make a 'Third Party' folder and copy all downloaded presets there, that's probably the most organized way to do it.
