excellent!
Nice catch
That was cool.
Got to love the FDNY
In the first twenty seconds, or so, in the foreground, there's a chrome stand that looks like a gas pump. I can only presume I'm mistaken. Can anyone tell me what it actually is?
Hey quick question, I know a lot about firefighting but what is a box?
Back in the old days cities had fire boxes to report fires. People would open them up and pull a chain, which sent a single either to the nearest fire house or central dispatch. Each building/area was broken into individual boxes, and fire houses are trained to know their 1st due boxes by heart if needed. In the modern day, fire alarm pull handles are a type of fire box, and cities like Boston and San Francisco still use older fire boxes as backups to modern 911 calls. A Box Alarm is also a type of call in some departments, and dictates what apparatuses are sent on the call.
Would Ladder 31 have been sent to the 10-75 if they weren't out chasing gas smells?
Wasn't their quarters a three bay house back in the 70's
@@NguageTrains If you haven't already, read the book, "Report from Engine Co. 82" by Dennis Smith. The house has always been a two bay.
If those walls could talk all the stories. I loved the book Report from Engine 82
That book helped me when I was a young lad in joining the volunteer fire department in Fremont, Nebraska.
