i love hearing your thought process! even though i am 2000+ online, i feel like a beginner compared to a 2000 otb. i really dont know what im doing most of the time. while i did beat a 1900 otb in my last tourney (90+ moves!), i also got crushed in 15 moves by an NM i met recently.
Nice recap Zach! Tried to follow this live but the position was way too dank for me😂 was really hoping you'd get that draw against the GM, you held on so well for so long, but hey, that's life I guess! Thanks for explaining all the plans through, hopefully will help me if I find myself in a similarly dank position!
GG, I like how you give yourself a lesson at the end there lol That's great you know your weaknesses and how to improve (and helping others along the way), GG!
Not too bad I will say. It’s just your mind’s talk holding you back plus your current chess-psychology. I also sense that you were nervous. As a solution, I suggest looking at the past games of the great GMs for new and positive inspiration and to quickly gather how to make the moves or strategy that would have made a difference here.
I see just a move i think which look strong defensively if you bring you knight back for exchange his strong knight in your territory, just an opinion.I remember Gotham chess which teach to never accept a piece in your territory try to eliminate him or push this strong piece away from your territory more fast as possible.I don't know if it's was enough to play for the win cause this is a GM and this is very tough to beat them often cause of their great knowledge of the chess game but it give you maybe more resilience in your game.Stay strong Zach tough opponent in the first game with black so it's a hard challenge for begining your tournament maybe next game you gonna have a better pairing.Take care, happy to see your next game always a great moment very instructive!
Your opponent should not have played nbd2 instead bg2, f5, qc2, nf6, b3 allows him to exchange the dark squared bishop faster since if u now play qe7 he can play a4 and the knight on b1 supports the bishop going to a3 and there white is better
Big fan of the lesson take away wrap up! Nice video!! The Gms will start falling soon enough :)
love that you love the new segment :) Thank you for the kindest of words, I tip my hat to you!
Glad to see you on the journey! Great and inspiring as always!💪🏻💪🏻

The best thing about chess is how universally international it is.
For real. It connects.

You should not challenge GM's to a game of chess. They are just too strong for you
