@@dabulls1g Actually koji kondo has admited to taking inspiration by this group, so atleast 12:14 stands true
12:43 - 12:55 sounds like the File Select theme from Super Mario 64. It also sounds like the Mario Maker theme, but that's a bit of a stretch.
Street Fighter was made by Capcom
I find the backing synth more evocative of Mario Maker
数あるTHE SQUARE ~
The best thing about this band is how many people don't know they grew up on their music.
Many of their kind fall on that one. And it's not for the ill, mind you...
@@JSSMVCJR2.1 ills?
@@soloparaplaystation6624 Ill as in "For good and ill".
I know right! Wild how under the radar it is for most people given that it’s had such a presence in people’s lives. Wrote about it in an essay haha!
12:58 the lick
yes!
Brilliant
Absolute mad lad plays the lick
lol good catch
it will be funny when somebody who doesnt know what the lick is stumbles upon this comment
In 1984, I made an amateur film with some friends.
We used the first song "Adventure Prologue" for the opening and the ninth song "Adventure Epilogue" for the ending.
I wrote the original story, wrote the script, shot, directed, edited, and played several roles.
It was a lot of work, but now it's a good memory.
I would like to see my friends from those days again.
Do you still have it? Can we watch it somewhere?
Do you still have you film?
I'd love to see it
Can you share it? (If you don't mind sharing of course)

Released only 15 months before "the game". This album was blasting in Kondo's studio during the writing process I'm sure.

J Fusion is one of the best genre I've ever heard
ikagura Fusion in general is good
German fusion is just as good imo
All fusion is good
American fusion is the best. (Weather Report and RTF ftw)
和泉さんを偲んで久し振りにこのアルバムを聴きに来ました。THE SQUARE作品の中で1番好きなアルバムです。
Damn RIP Izumi, he was an amazing pianist.
!!亡くなってたんですか?!知らなかったです。若いころスクエアが好きで特に和泉さんの楽曲が好きでした。ショックです😭

You can tell Mario Kart 8 music is inspired by this albums sound. Love it!
And the Mario overworld music
When I heard that sax solo 8:41 I was like "man I've already listened to something similar" and then I remembered the saxophonist credited on MK8 ost who especially played the sax part on dolphin shoals. T-square was clearly an inspiration
Fun fact, the two drummers for Mario Kart 8 are both (one formerly a member, one current) drummers of this band.
T-Square were pretty heavily involved in the MK8 soundtrack, which I'm very glad about. Hopefully MK9 has a similar level of skill and production.

Haven’t heard the music much, but my $0.02 is...
There’s a lot of games with females as main characters. Do you dislike Metroid or Tomb Raider for example?
Also you can be both a Sonic and Mario fan. (if you want. no one’s forcing you.) That’s the “Sega and Nintendo are still rivals” way to think.

'Travelers' is very cool.
31:19 hahaha this is from castlevania dracula x (vampire kiss) for snes. First level. The name of the song is Bloodlines.
I cant believe this is not more known among video game music nerds, im surprised I'm just now hearing it because it feels like it definitely inspired the musicians at Nintendo, Namco, Konami, Capcom etc.

2:27 Who hears the Ducktales Moon Theme?
Bit of a stretch there, but i can hear the resemblance

So the music that inspired the Overworld theme from Super Mario Bros is called Sister Marian...

New favorite genre
Not gonna point it out, but I am gonna say it’s kinda sad their is one reason this album has gained a spike in popularity.

Outstanding tunes here. I'm not really a huge jazz fan, a more synth kind of guy, but this is pretty good stuff!

Uno de los mejores discos del mundo
SMH at the people coming for the mario sample and not staying for the rest of the album
What’s wrong with that?
@@fired09 This album contains some of the best music to ever come out of Japan in the 80's. You're a fool if you come here for 10 seconds of music and don't stay for the whole thing

Yooooo 😂😂
@@allloren7277 I would, because Mega Man came out 3 years after this album. 😅

Shake your body down to the ground by Michael Jackson
