    So update on the Avene I ordered. I used the 3 products I ordered from them (cleansing milk, hydrating serum, and rich face cream) and woke up to zero dry patches?! Nose flakes were totally gone and my forehead, which is dry 24/7 since giving birth and breast feeding, was super smooth! I feel relieved!

      I had the same struggles...My skin seemed to become much more persnickety after my first baby. Went through every product under the sun over the course of several years, and finally tried Avene tolerance extreme cream at the rec of my dermatologist. Finally, this worked! It took me years to come to the realization, that although my skin is somewhat dryish, the major problem was sensitivity to products causing the dry patchiness. So the simpler, and the fewer skin care products I use, the better my skin does. I've tried several of the other Avene products as well, but came to the conclusion that just the cream alone works best for my skin. Also, try washing your face before your shower with cool filtered water and one of those make-up removing cloths, no special face soaps/cleansers, at least when you don't have heavy makeup. Then put on the Avene moisturizer to protect your face directly before getting in the shower, and avoid getting much of the hot water on your face. (More moisturizer after showering as well.) This made a big difference for me also. Thanks for all of your great (as usual) make-up looks and tips!!

    Shelbey I just adore you. Love that you are reliable and use things on repeat. At least I know it isn't a cash grab with you and products. If you are recommending something you actually love it and trust it. You look fabulous lately. And yes everything freaks out after giving birth. I had super dry skin after my three sons. Everything changes. It's nuts. Good luck. It does settle down eventually!!!

    I get super peeling areas otherwise in combo. But slugging has helped so much, even as make-up prep. It's so easy, helps ezema too. Just literally apply aquaphor over the top of your usual skincare at night. For makeup prep, apply aquaphor to the peeling areas , let really sink in then blot excess off with a tissue then apply makeup.
    Won't clog pores and cause acne like you would think . I have very acne prone skin.

    I would recommend a very gentle exfoliating cleanser like the Indeed Labs Exfoliator II, then some essences -- the COSRX Propolis Synergy toner, the COSRX snail mucin - these are layers of moisture barrier healing goodness. Follow up with a light layer of a moisturizer. I love the Illiyoon ATO. Everything but the Illiyoon is at ULTA. As a super dry skinned, sensitive gal, I can encourage you to try several light layers of moisturizing products - essences are perfect both for that and for your time constraints as a new Mom.

    My skin is always super dry. What really helps is the body shop Himalayan charcoal purifying glow clay mask. It gets all the flakey and dead skin off. Then a moisturizing mask. Then I put on the Avene skin recovery cream- it’s great for repairing the skin barrier and for sensitive skin types. I find that oils don’t sink into the skin enough to truly moisturize it.

    A very unglamorous strategy that always helps with my dry flaky skin is the “slugging” thing... slathering aquaphor ointment over top of my face oil before bed. Gross but a total game changer.

    • @Oranaiche1
      @Oranaiche1 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, slugging has been a game changer for me. I use the Cerave Healing Ointment though and find it does much more for my skin versus Aquaphor. I do moisturizer first, then Squalane, and then the Healing Ointment. It has eliminated skin flaking from Differin for me completely, so I’m able to have clear AND hydrated skin.

    Love the video! Some advice for your extremely dried skin: oils are great, but remember that they are light occlusives, and we know that water cannot penetrate oil. Your skin needs hydration, and then seal the deal with oils.
    My recommendation is to look into Japanese/Korean skincare regimes that focus on hydrating toners before serums and moisturizers. After all of your skincare is finished at nighttime, seal it with a tiny bit of aquaphor.

    Medication made my skin change from oily to super dry. I healed it by: 1. using a hydrating toner after cleansing (I use Clinique take the day off, then CereVe hydrading Cleanser). Time revolution by Missha is my fav., just make sure whatever toner you use has no alcohol and is for moisturization. 2. simplifying all skin care - no actives like retinols, niacinamide or vitamin C etc and nothing with fragrance. I used Cetaphil moisture lotion for day and at night too but slathered plain CereVe cream in the tub over that,. You can use rosehip oil on top of the Cereve. Drink lots of water too!

    Oh yeah. Definitely had dry skin while breastfeeding after pregnancy. Besides water and a protein/fat rich diet, hydrating facial mists/toners + moisturizing oils helped. I pile on layers of toner and essence and add a couple drops of the Stratia Fortify Facial oil into my moisturizer. Breastmilk itself can also be used topically for dryness and eczema, if you're feeling adventurous.
    I prefer quarterly/seasonal favorites anyway. As a viewer, it's kind of a lot to always be slammed with a bunch of monthly favorite videos from channels at the same time. And as an everyday makeup user, I rotate, buy, and use things relative to the seasons.

    Try this brand HyMed, their Hylauronic restorative moisturizer - the version that does NOT have the tumeric. It’s developed originally for severe dryness, post surgery, eczema, psoriasis and for cancer patients. Hard to find but worth it. It may be your face wash drying you out too though.

  • @erynnm3045
    @erynnm3045 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    If your skin is dehydrated and dry, the oils will take care of the dry but not the dehydration. You need a water based cream and some hylauronic acid to put on. When my skin is dehydrated, i'll put the hylauronic acid on first, then spray my face with water and leave it a couple of minutes until it absorbs, that way the haylauronic acid isn't drawing water from the base layers of my skin, but from an outside source into the skin barrier. Then add the gel cream on top. If you're using face oils you can add this before the hylauronic acid step so they don't rebuff each other. :)

    Great video! Could I ask what foundation brush you are using? Thanks

      I believe it is the Bobbi Brown face brush.

    From one mom to another, you look beautiful. But to help you get rid of dry, patchy skin, then use vanicream moisturizing cream or cerave moisturizing cream in the tub on your face when the skin is still wet. It will seal in the moisture and your skin will look great.

    First off, you’re still beautiful, so don’t sweat the dry skin. But, if you’re breastfeeding, your hormones will fluctuate quite a bit. Incorporate a fish oil supplement to help regulate your skin.

    So, should we call you Cindy or Linda, or Christie?
    "Which 90s Supermodel are you?"
    And I'm always happy with your videos. I need explanations tbh.

    I was SOOOO dry postpartum!!! I literally bathed myself in first aid beauty ultra repair cream constantly. Kinda like postpartum hair loss, it was one of those things I just had to ride out. It’s definitely worse when breastfeeding.

    Lovely, flaky skin and oil are not a good mix. Try the Skinfix Triple Lipid or the Toleriane Utlra Fluid (only available from FR, try eBay.) Toleriane is my life saver. I put it on at night and again as soon as I drag myself from bed, and before I make coffee. My skin lives for Toleriane. Oil is not really hydrating or emollient. It just seals everything in.

    No one ever mentions applying their favorite sunscreen before foundation application. No one wears it?
