      If you're gonna get a handheld emulator, this is the one to get, especially if you have big hands like me.

    I have yet to play an emulation console without a lot of lag and game breaking glitches.
    When you compare FPGA hardware to Emulation hardware you should mention that FPGA hardware runs games nearly perfectly and emulation consoles don't play anywhere close to perfect if they run decently at all.

      I don't know which versions of emulation software that you're playing but My experience has primarily been with RetroPie running on raspberry pi which is retroarch and also onion OS which is retroarch again.
      For the most part, I haven't run into any bugs or issues as long as I'm emulating that system that is well documented and isn't on the cutting edge of emulation development. For example, 16-bit emulation works a hell of a lot better than N64. I was tempted to mention software-based emulation such as iNES, Nesticle and SNES 9X going back to the actual 1990s.
      I think the onion OS goes a long way towards smoothing out the issues with the software and performance.
      Honestly, I'm glad to have both FPGA-based systems and emulation based systems and I use them interchangeably.
      I'm just glad that over the years that we have access to different kinds of ways of classic games.

      I have a PC with all the major emulators . still have lag and glitches on the simplest 8-bit titles and 16-bit titles.
      I own a Classic SNES mini, Genesis mini and Atari GSP.
      All of them have Lag or latency when compared to original hardware.
      All of them. That includes my more than capable PC.

      I'm also a big fan of playing original hardware on a CRT. Currently I have four CRTs. So sometimes I'm a traditionalist and sometimes I like the convenience of emulation.

    I don't know why my Atari 2600 shows up Empty. Rom folder is filled with roms. Not sure what to do.

    • @8bitjoystick
      @8bitjoystick  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Well I have a few suggestions for you.
      1. Are they uncompressed? They should be.bin files and not.zip?
      2. Did you refresh and look for new ROMs after you added them
      3. You might want to go to archive.org or some other place and find a different Atari 2600 ROM set to use.

    • @TVGuapoArcade
      @TVGuapoArcade หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@8bitjoystick You known what it was? They were defaulted in the wrong ROMS folder. After checking the emulator and seeing where it was looking for roms, I moved them and it works now. For example 7800 wasn’t correct folder, because it was looking for roms in the seventyeighthundred folder. ha!

    Shweet! Glad to hear that it's easier to hold for larger hands than the previous version. Might get one now thanks to you!

      I actually had the original one, and gave it away as a gift. The second one is much more comfortable in my hands and I like the fact that the shoulder buttons are different heights. Honestly, it's still pretty compact and if you wouldn't tell anyone that it's the larger version they wouldn't know. I am 6 foot two so there's definitely such a thing as too small for my hands.

  • @PerfectPlex090

    Does it come shipped with games and systems pre-installed?

    • @8bitjoystick
      @8bitjoystick  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes, but not a complete rom set. I would suggest you copy the ROMs and bios files, throw away the cheap card and build yourself a new Onion OS install using a good SD card using a romset you are familiar with.
      I did like the Chinese focused arcade games, I normally don't get to see that stuff very often.
      I think I will say that archive.org is awesome and that is completely unrelated to your question.

    is it easy to copy cartriges to roms for your emulator?

    • @8bitjoystick
      @8bitjoystick  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Well. I've never actually made my own ROM images off my own cartridges. I've always used existing ROM sets. I also enjoy having games on cartridges as well as ROMs so I have the flexibility to play them in different ways. If I was more into Pokémon I would probably be into investing into a cartridge reader

      @@8bitjoystick Thanks for answer. I ordered a handheld emulator but I want to play legal and fair, but I see lack of information on that part. It is fair to copy your cartridges and play in emulator but its not that straight forward process.

    • @8bitjoystick
      @8bitjoystick  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Well none of the systems that the Miyoo Mini can play have the original device makers still manufacturing cartridges or discs their respected systems. So they don't actually get any part of a second-hand sale of cartridges. I recently purchased a used copy of Metal Gear for NES at a game store and Hideo kojima didn't get any revenue from that. There's also no legal difference between ripping your own cartridges and using pre-existing ROM sets.
      I also still collect cartridges but I'm also glad for the existing ROM sets available and especially comes in handy.
      Personally, I wish Nintendo, Sega and Sony would manufacture new media for their game systems. That would be cool.

      @@vaidotasratkus1886hey, if Nintendo manufactured and sold their pre-existing cartridges in boxes collectors would freaking lineup and buy them. Basically look what retro bits and limited run do. Nintendo and Sega should get it on that and manufacture a new cartridges for collectors.

      Thank you. Two of my big TH-cam inspirations are Retrobird and Tech Dweeb, both are insanely funny and I'm trying to wonder how can I make my videos slightly funnier and more entertaining. So if I were a stupid hat and make stupid faces to the camera, it's at least something that I can do to try and put a stupid little smile on someone's face. I'm not above using cringy 1980s slang
