i'm a crochet girl and i've started knitting just recently and it's def harder but sometimes you get into this flow state and it is SO GOOD. but it's soooooo slow going, so now i'm trying to finish my knit projects and getting so tempted by pretty crochet projects... grass is always greener on the other side lol
OMG, yes PLS! A tutorial or pattern for that top would be amazing. Also, I'm a long time knitter and I def remember the frustrating phase. I remember it being hard to follow poorly written patterns. Finding a well written pattern makes it so much easier. Tin Can Knits has great beginner patterns and much of the time the "hot right now" or "most popular" patterns on Ravelry are going to be decent. Stick to stockinette or garter at first and use TH-cam tutorials for techniques or instructions that are new to you. It can be so boring, but a garter stitch scarf is such great practice. Or even a scarf where you change yarn/colors/patterns every once in a while. Have fun!
As a crocheter turned knitter, my advice is that if what you want to make is a top or a sweater, then just go for it!! It'll be difficult and require a lot of tutorial videos, but you'll be so proud of whatever you manage to accomplish. It'd be especially helpful if you pick a project that has a detailed video tutorial so you don't feel completely lost You already have crochet knowledge, so even at your absolute beginner knitter level you do have experience learning how to hold and tension your yarn, you've already experienced learning the difference between different types of stitches, how to follow video tutorials, etc. Good luck!!
So very true. This is the perfect reminder that I’ve gotta start somewhere. I have the upper hand from having the crochet knowledge!! Thanks so much for sharing this, and for wishing me luck. Sending love 🌷💕
