I enjoyed this gameplay a lot. It was nice to get a good look at the home base and a preview of the Crossroads especially. I do have to say, as a person who has made a lot of accidental uggos in Inquisition, I definitely don't mind the look of the Rooks they've shown so far. I am definitely looking forward to the character creator, which they've also said they'll show before release.
Stoked! For Lore context you’re correct Solas is trying to bring the veil down. It separates the Fade and Thedas. He doesn’t want the old elven gods to return but our character kind of F’s it up for him lol
I’ve seen a lot of people talking about uncanny valley with the Qunari in the this trailer, so you’re not alone. Definitely confirms to me that I won’t be one in Veilguard.
Cannot wait to see your adventure in Dragon Age 4 Andy! Just got to say I think these gameplay trailers have helped in my decision to buy the game I was worried a bit a first but I can still see why I love these games.
We totally feel the same with the Combat wheel. Lol! I wish the curved bars and interface of the whole is more transparent or has more opacity. Or maybe just as simple as Final Fantasy Rebirth did with their interface for combos and companion skills.
RE: DA Lore -- Solas very much does NOT want the elven gods to come back. The world is currently separated into the waking world and the fade. They are separated by the veil. This was not always the case. Solas created the veil a couple thousand years ago in order to the stop the elven gods from destroying the world (Sidebar: they are not even gods, properly. They were extremely powerful mages who declared themselves gods). Before creating the veil, he was leading an active rebellion against the so-called gods. The details of this have yet to be revealed, but we know he had particular distaste for Falon'din (the friend of the dead) but was close friends with Mythal (goddess of justice), who had been killed but was able to survive in part by planting a small piece of her power in Flemeth. Morrigan has likely inherited this power now. Anyway, Solas wants to destroy the veil. Creating the veil succeeded in trapping the corrupt gods, but decimated what was left of elven society. The empire was effectively destroyed (but didn't officially fall until sometime after this, in conflict with Tevinter), most of the elves lost their immortality, and there were additional consequences with the fade, previously a natural part of the world, now locked away from everything else. Solas wants to restore the world to the way it was before, but tearing down the veil will reportedly destroy half of everything and kill a lot of people.
Andy. You see the cutest little baby griffon in the history of griffons and your first thought is "wow, it must smell in there"? 🤣 Ah, well. No accounting for taste. Ha! In spite of potential smell, the game looks fantastic. I'm so ready for this to launch.
Andy, could you do an original resident evil 2 or 3 playthrough? I noticed you didn’t do 3 remake. And maybe metal gear solid? 2, 3 or 4. Any of them would be cool. I’m guessing you might do one of snake eater delta?
They show a side quest and call it narratively rich but it’s literally to go fetch medical supplies! That’s not narratively rich. That sounds like an awful fetch quest. Why can’t these devs learn from Witcher 3 how to make amazing side quests? Fetching medical supplies doesn’t sound fun even if it serves the end goals of the game world.
I’m happy with most of what we’re seeing, but I’m really worried about the amount of talking your character does that isn’t a choice. Really makes me feel like I’m not actually crafting a role to play, but rather just choosing this pre-made characters current mood.
There will never be another bg3 until larians next game. No game will be allowed to have that budget and development time underneath a traditional publisher. Just gotta always grade on a curve because publishers and investors want their $$$ asap
@@TheAndyCortez Even compared to Inquisition (which released almost 10 years ago) & Mass Effect Andromeda DA the veilguard isn’t a big improvement in this area. Faces and body language are still stiff and dialogue hasn’t changed one bit.
Game looks mid as hell, why does Witcher 3 which came out over 5 years ago blow this game away visually? Art design is generic looking mobile game uninspired garbo
I'd only get this game just for the conclusion of my story with Solas since I romanced him in Inquisition but sadly story turns bad for my Solavellan. As for the mage playthrough I'm not impressed. Very few enemies, companions nonexistent, battle boring, the Qunari head looks awful, expressions tired..Hard pass...
First 20 minutes of gameplay? Bold to assume I'll be done with character customization by then.
lol same I usually take like 3 hours off the rip for that
As someone who's only played a decent amount of Inquisition, I'm super excited for this game. Feels like what I want from a game at the moment.
Very glad Andy could take some time away from his using of necromantic energies to siphon life forces so he could share this video with us.
They have talked about the UI being customizable, so hopefully people will be able to tweak things to look right to them.
They confirmed that you can
I'm more concerned about all the special effects and neon colors everywhere. I hope that can be turned down

As someone who can't keep track of all the lore either, I recommend GhilDirthalen and JackDaw's lore and recap vids.
Looking forward to this
My most anticipated game of the year for sure

I think it's just how the person created the qunari in the CC
I think this might actually be game of the year.
It looks average af, I’m happy to be wrong though.
@@Hozasaru didn't ask, but you do you buddy.
Tbh I don't really care about game of the year. I only watch the game awards because of possible new game reveals to add to my wishlist 😁
My money is on Black Myth: Wukong, just because of how much it blew up.
@@JustAGamerInc with how many 8/10s it got, doubt it
it's been so long. I think Griffins were actually considered extinct but in the book Dragon Age Last Flight they found some hatchlings.
It looks great.
algo comment - shouting out that zesty-ass spell cast homie does throughout the video LOL

i need this game to
be good need the bioware feeling restored
I'm hyped

Never played a Dragon Age but this looks pretty fun and immersive. Too bad I can’t stop playing modded Elden Ring
Are you planning on streaming a play through?
Game of the year lol
Lol
Unironically.
I don't like that we can't see us entering the mirrors. I GOWR we could, and it does make a difference in the experience.

Let's go

Mage gameplay looks like a better version of Hogwarts Legacy gameplay which I enjoyed.

Mage combat doesn't look like it fits this games combat system well.
Cutscenes a whole downgrade from BG3 (facial expressions, body language) gotta keep it 100%

I'd trade those any day for the better combat imo 👀👀
