Described as a legacy building, with the same level of engineering that goes into a skyscraper, Macallan's new £140 million distillery is more than a place to make whisky - it's a work of art.
I've been a Macallan fan for 20 years when I was first introduced to it, its taste is honest and comforting, they've managed to translate enhance that brand to this new facility. Amazing!
Spectacular ,,, ********************** all stars ,,,, great achievement ,,, Excellent job by the Eng. . . Thank you very much for sharing a lovely experience ,, have a nice day ,, Tom
Now that's something special. Beautiful distillery, but my God, how many stills do they have now? Havn't had a Macallan in a while, but I will try to get my hands on some of the new 12yo expressions soon.
''With 36 copper pot stills - 15 more than the previous site - the new distillery will enable production of the Macallan single malt to increase by up to one-third if required.'' (scotchwhisky.com/magazine/latest-news/19114/macallan-opens-landmark-140m-distillery/) Too bad they decomissioned their old site though. They could produce about 9 million liters so now they can produce about 12 million liters. Insane how much they can produce now. Especially when you compare it to another distillery like Highland Park, which is also in Edrington's portfolio, they can produce about 2,5 million liters.
And they have plans for future expansion which doubles its size again if demand allows. Beautifully done. The stills in themselves are works of art and wonderfully displayed. A huge step into the modern era to house a national treasure. Like the whisky gods space ship has returned to earth!

Well, now I know how they’ve been spending my money... 👍🏻
😁
So, 80% for expansion, and 20% for what you drink?
The 12yr is some of the best scotch I drink. Better than so 14 and 16yr single malt. IMO
💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽 So beautifully captured!
