This was actually played alot on KISS 108 in the Boston area. I was so little too! Like probably 6…but wow the rush of nostalgia I got hearing this after 30+ years 🥹
This was better than "Too blind" IMO. Great track and sooo very reminiscent of the early 90's. Soulful, undulating vocals, smooth electric beats, with a piano. This was the jam a lot of musicians today could learn from.
"way" better??? I mean it's the same song basically but Too Blind is perfect euphoria and the better version but this is great too because..you know...basically the same song lol
I can remember driving a combine at around 2:30 on a Saturday morning... beautiful full moon and this came on the radio...takes me back to that night....blew me away.... brilliant
In 1992 I was a waiter in a hotel in Ashby-de-la-Zouch and I had the pleasure of serving her at dinner. I had a little bit of a panic because I was into metal at the time and couldn't think of any of her songs. However, she would also being interviewed by the local radio station and wanted her to record a spot for them- "Hi, I'm Kim Simms, Take my advice and come and see me live at the Travellers Rest" "Aha! 'Take my advice!'" I thought to myself "I _know_ that one!" She was a delight to serve and I hope she and her friends enjoyed their stay. However, somebody in management recently thought it would be a good idea to have a cheese table in the resturaunt, with these big, canvas wrapped wheels of mature cheddar, Stilton, double Gloucester etc and the thing _stank!_ The smell of it drew the attention of _the_ biggest housefly I had ever seen! The resturaunt wasn't that busy, just about ten covers; Kim Simms and her friend, a family and group of four and a couple of businessmen, but soon I noticed that all eyes were following this monsterous fly around the room. As it neared me, I discreetly tried to shoo it into the back area where it could be dealt with by the bugzapper. "Did you get it?" asked Miss Simms "I'm afraid not" I replied "I think I'm going to have to hire some pretty heavy spiders"
...Take my advice...Kym used an "Around The Way Girl" - era LL Cool J lookalike, in this Video! (0:10) ...ha-HAA!! ...jokes aside, this was a BIG Club hit, June 1992, peaking at #5 Dance....wanna see!?? (cont.) 10. Nothing Can Stop Us (MAW mixes) - Saint Etienne 9. Sweat Dance - K-YZE 8. Elevation - GTO 7. Closer (Sasha mixes) - Mr. Fingers 6. Keep On Walkin' (Mixes) - Cece Peniston 5. ***Take My Advice (Mixes)*** - Kym Sims 4. Still In Love With You (MAW Mixes) - Meli'sa Morgan 3. Set Me Free - Clubland 2. Club Lonely - 'Lil Louis & The World 1. In The Closet (Knuckles / Musto mixes) - Michael Jackson
RBS nails the charts as always. I did not know St Etienne had a US club hit. I met Bob Stanley at a talk in Liverpool in 2013 entitled What Is Pop Music? Andy McCluskey of OMD was there too. Jayne Casey Of Big In Japan ( Holly Johnson was in the band before FGTH) was on the panel as well. Not surprisingly the conclusion of the discussion was pop music. Bob Stanley was friendly and easy to talk to afterwards. St Etienne have made some good records- Sylvie is one of my favourites. He said they only filmed it in Cuba as it was a good excuse to go there.
Sheesh! Finally an HD quality video....I've been watching this video for thirty years in poor quality 480 or less, thank you Kym Sims, I love this tune take my advice and too blind to see it, two massive dance hits in the early 90's, great mixes from steve silk Hurley...
That is still not a proper HD version! The original 35mm film footage have not been scanned to HD format... They most probably used the old broadcast footage and AI upscaled it
@bklynsummer: She said on interviews that this one was the flipside of "Too Blind To See It", being the positive side of a relationship and TBTSI the negative side...
@@robwilliams6753 contemporary on contrary to classical music to be understood as pop era music. I love disco funk house garage french touch but also great french chanson, as well

I like your story. It is always nice to hear when famous people are nice persons - especially when they treat serving/bar staff nice.

@@SmartRobot-wc2fb yes you got a point
Tuff classic!!!! ❤❤❤
this has the same exact tune as too blind to see it 😂😂
Because is was produced by Steve Silk Hurley. He had a lot of productions with the same vibe.. Love it

Fancied her madly ❤
I am not surprised 😁😁😎😎
Must've last heard this somewhere in the 90s, may be the remix.
Listening now in Oct 2023
First heard this song in a club. Fell in love with it.
thank you for the songs and waiting for the song A Little Bit More
I love this song! Thank's Kym Sims! ❤❤❤
Wow i still have this on Cassette❤😂🎉
I love her
CHICAGOS FINEST
I THINK SHE STILL PERFORMS TODAY🎉
I still have the TDK cassette with this on it that I recorded off Atlantic 252... glorious long wave!!!!
This kind of music has helped me to walk away from toxic relationships and enjoy the single life! I love to live the freeway life.
It's brilliant when music can help you like that
Old and lonely. Very "progressive".
She literally can mix this with my favorite "Too Blind To See it"...
It is pretty similar to TBTSI, but her album is much more varied and I really like it.
@bklynsummer: She said on interviews that this one was the flipside of "Too Blind To See It", being the positive side of a relationship and TBTSI the negative side...
Same groove and vibe. Almost like they squeeze two tracks out of one. 😂
This girl reacht almost perfection. A great name in the contemporary music
reacht. also, 30+ years ago is NOT contemporary. What other flavours do you have?

Thank you for the Music... if you know you know
You know !!!
She looks like a young Michelle Visage!
What a cheeky little dance track ❤
MASSIVE dance track in the 90's........thank you Kim! x
Super cool dance tune, turn up the music and have some fun moving around😎
El estilo musical me recuerda a Was not Was con el tema "Shake your head"
Agreed
amyone know the classic disco drum break he uses in this track..He used it all through 1991-1992....and the "hey" sample??
lol... it doesn't get any more 90's than a james brown sample the "hey" stems from the song Funky President (People It's Bad)
Old school classic
Great Tune 🎶 ❤
Good lord this reminds me of listening to this track in my lancia delta turbo in 92 when I think it was cutting edge---the track not the car----😅😅.
Perfect combo!! Tuff track tuff car!
Looks like a club version of debbie gibson and i love her
