No one puts on a podcast like Andrea and Andrew. I love your podcast. So informative and you help me to understand a pattern instead of just following the pattern.

I'm watching this in Oct. 2020, and am in awe about Andrew's jacket. Fits so well, and what a stunning color use! I'm hopping all over your podcasts, and he was just starting that jacket in the last one I watched. Here it is, like magic! Beautiful!

Thank you, I’ve really enjoyed your podcasts which I have only recently found. I am a new knitter only coming back to knitting recently. I am working my way through your podcasts with joy. I am rather like a hoarder pulling out the iPad and the knitting and settling in with the dogs (our 2 new rescue kelpies) who have the loveliest personalities. I am in heaven. Thanks again Andrea and Andrew. I’m glad you are doing the wonderful work you do.

I really found the information you did on waist shaping was really great. I have been knitting for 50 + years but still realize that you can still learn. Your schematic you showed was perfect and very interesting. Thanks!

I so agree with this. I wish all patterns included really good schematics. Some have very vague ones, and I make my own when the book is lacking.

Ann Budd is an amazing teacher. Years ago, I wanted so badly to knit socks but the patterns seemed like rocket science to me. Luckily, I found Getting Started Knitting Socks and suddenly, with Ann’s instruction, it all made perfect sense. I’ve knitted many beautiful pairs of socks over the years, thanks to her! Now I’m starting in her top-down sweater book so I can alter patterns to suit myself. Wonderful episode, guys! And I love that Henry VIII sweater, Andrea!

Andrew have your wife knit you some cabled stockings, they make any leg look good with a quilt. 😏 I learned so much from Ann and am fearing my Cardigan will be stretching out because it it is only 25% wool. 🙄I also now understand in the neck shaping why every 4 rows they have me rib 7 , which I know now is to prevent curling. I just wish the pattern told me which to start with, a purl or a knit. Maybe it does not matter. 🤔. Ann is a beautiful person.

Bingo! you two did it again! I am so glad I am a Patr(e)on. Makes me happy that Andrew has got the "just one more row" bug. Does he also ask "shall I bring my knitting?"
Andrea, those were very clear shaping instructions but it made me wonder how you document the changes you plan or make in a patterns. Do you write separate notes, write your changes into your copy of the patterns or just sort of wing it as you go as many knitters do who learned how to knit without a pattern?

I love MDK's first books. The books are cute with practical patterns. Also on Saturday's they send out a well done email called Snippets. You may be "old school" but I learn every time and I just love your format, guests and the two of you. I don't get that one 👎. That person must be jealous

Hi Andrea, I think you should let Andrew knit you some patterned socks. Just plain stockinette gets boring! Most of my socks have patterns on them and I wear them in my shoes all the time. Loved Ann's interview. I was so lucky to take two classes with her and she's lovely and a lot of fun. So much knowledge within her :) I'm in love with the sweater you wore, the red one. What's the name of the pattern? Hugs, viv

One problem never mentioned when talking about knitting in pieces and seaming it together is the fit. I think, as soon as you have a few rolls on your body you need to fit into the garment, the fit of the pattern won´t necessarily result in a flattering look. If you knit in pieces and seam it, you have to open the seams and rip up the pieces one by one to make an alteration on the fit. If you´ve knit in one piece, you at least won´t have to undo the seam and finding the place where the fit doesn´t look good is much easier. Also, if I knit on piece, I can try it on while knitting on it. I can´t do that on individual pieces, so it´s more likely you have to rip it out later. If you´re not very into the maths part of the whole thing (because the maths always doesn´t seem to work out, somehow), then trying it on is essential. As much as I´d like the good fit and long life of a garment, I also don´t want to work a garment for a year, ripping back and guessing myself through it all the time. That´s why I havn´t given it a go yet.
