I took the full video live on 1/18/2009 at the Martin Luther King Awards Ceremony in DC. Per popular request...I do not have any other videos other than this one.
I was a lighting tech at this event. There were other performers that night but Charice was the only one that received standing ovation. Literally half of the crowd were stood up while she was singing. It was such an amazing sight how something that small sound so powerful
Simple, but very powerful and heartfelt performance! She did justice to this song. After hearing her sing this, I will never feel the same about this song sung by any other singers no matter how popular they are. Too much sophisticated curves and touches will just destroy the whole song. That's probably why the way she sung it hits you right inside because she didn't sing it to her style unlike how well known artist sing this song, they make it their own when it shouldn't be. More than anything, it should be sung from the heart so everybody else will feel the song the same way. It's America's song about their history and challenges they overcame.. this rendition makes you remember just that. You feel sadness, happy and proud at the end of the song. Perfect! Just the right emotions you should get. No other singer will ever beat this or give you the same feeling like Charice did.
Charice possessed not only a golden voice but she definitely has CHARISMA which a lot of singers doesn't have. It is not enough that you wear long, expensive gowns and expensive jewelries on stage. But what attracts people to Charice is her pure innocence that a child exudes and yet her singing is first rate in the DIVA level. We saw her for the first time in Las Vegas and we were touched and find ourselves in tears after her performance. We LOVE her!!!
this made me think america is great. her voice is so powerful that it will seem bestowing you so much greatness. so persuasive that if you place her amidst a war and sing enemies against enemies will end up hugging each other.

I would like to repeat myself, Charice is adored and loved here in the USA, simply because she is a GREAT singer. If we, foreigners had developed instant adoration for her, maybe, the Filipinos should also give her the same accolade and support her all the way. No more, no less. She is such a humble little girl.
