- Here's a short video of my red Lorie, "Sparky". I wasn't really planning on filming him, but he started to talk up a storm just as I started to record him,so I let the camera roll.
He's such a ham!! And a gracious host, too! He says so much more too, just watch for his next video. Hope you enjoy.

Very impressive but can Sparky "WUEWUEWUE" like Gumi?
And can he NYU NYUUUUU??
I too went down the rabbit hole trying to figure if its a chattering Lori noise or just Gumi. Research is currently inconclusive.
I think Gumi picked up that sound from one of his toys
I doubt this bird is even alive now. Their inadequate diet in captivity leads to issues.

Loved the video - Sparky sure is talkative!! I used to have a Red Lory - he was very talkative and playful. Now I have a Chattering Lory - she's a riot also. I heard how Sparky combined the words banana and apple, for "ban-apple"... our Chattering combined "tired" and "bye-bye", to say "ty-bye" and "tired-bye'rd" When she's tired, she'll say "me tired, me tired-bye'rd, wanna go night night". I have some videos of her on youtube.
I think I have fallen in love with Sparky... wow he talks so clear... I love to watch the bird videos.. and have a hard time understanding many of the talking birds... bet he is a love bug..

Yes they generally cost under $1,000.00 USD so approximately 3000AED/810USD would be about right. The Galah Cockatoo is a great bird also. Follow your heart, and you'll have a "breast" friend for life!!

Yes, Jubair. He's quite well. It's funny that not a lot is known about the life expectancy of the Lory, Sparky is very active and a bundle of joy, and I think he's about 17 years old now. 👍👍

What a love. How old is Sparky? My husband and I just bought two last week (a marigold and a rainbow) that are approximately a year old and have been raised together. Picked them up in a pet store (which we usually do not do) in Virginia Beach. They jumped on my husband and did not want to get off. He fell in love instantly. They are so comical and sweet and I love the way the smell.

I've taught him new words by just saying them over and over to him. After repeating the new word 3 or 4 times about 15 seconds apart, I break into a big hearty roaring laughter. This teaches him the new word, and associates a "reward" (the human laughter) that goes along with it. Birds thrive for human attention and true spontaneous reaction from the things they say, or their antics. With this approach, Sparky has picked up new words and phrases in a matter of a day or two. Where he already says "Do you want some apple" or "Do you want some banana", I started to train him to say "Do you want some trouble" again repeating it several times, and then finishing by cringing and shrieking "NO... I Don't Want Any Trouble!!" and laughing my head off. He learned to say it almost instantly, and is his favorite "go to" to get a big reaction out of me. He's the best li'l guy.

Great Vid! Sparky is very striking and a great talker. I have a 4 month old Rainbow/Olive named Pickles he can't stand his cage so I made him a large playground that he hangs out on and loves it. It's actually a two fold solution he gets to play without bars and I don't have to keep cleaning the walls, windows, floor! I use crushed Walnut for the bedding and clean it with a kitty litter scoop works great! So far he is saying his name Pickel bird and watch ya do'n. I love the fact that Lories like to play for hours! I have thought about getting a Stella but cant decide if I'm ready to add an extra bird.
Looks like you've been doing good training him except he just won't fetch a banana or an apple no matter how you say it to him! Humans can be slow but with patience he'll learn to fetch!
Oh my goodness!!! I needed a good laugh, Sparky! I love his name and I adore your interaction/conversation. This was 2013, how is Sparky these days? I've a non-talking but very sweet Senegal. Such fantastic companions.

tv tropes suggested that Lago the parrot from Aladdin might be one of these birds rather then a scarlet macaw and as these birds are from Indonesia it's likely

the beak on that bird is kind a long :( you should get it trimmed
an overhanging beak is normal for parrots...no trim necessary in this case.

Apparently you don't know nothing about Loriys you do not trim the beak of a Lory since they have very minimal ways of eating their food that is how they break it down
