Nice batter head selection. With an Ambassador or G1, the ring would be out of control. Sounded perfect at higher tunings without the need for any dampening.
The best I ever heard this same snare drum is from drummer Jonas Ekdahl with the band Evergrey on their live concert DVD a night to remember. Though Jonas used a slight different head, a Remo Emperor X on the batter side. He got such a beautiful crack with just the right amount of dryness and pop to it.
Ive got an ancient one of these that was in a tour bus fire in Germany 😂 still great sound though ' i think the shell expanded slightly in the heat of the fire ' but that just add's to it Absolute tank
Just did a recording , someone recommended me to use one at the studio rather than mine , gave it a go , it ruined the session sounded horrible , not a fan
IMO..... the Pearl floating 14x6.5 (brass or steel) is the greatest snare drum in history.
Cant argue with that. Fan of your channel, by the way. I've always enjoyed what you do.
Awesome snare drum! I have started collecting free floaters, 14x8 brass, 14x8 maple, 14x6.5 copper (CB700). Such great sounding snares!
Nice choices there!
I had that same drum, great drum, it was my main drum for along time. I traded it for a 1976 Ludwig white cortex 12,13,16,22.
Yo tuve uno. Excelente para estudio como para en vivo!!!!
sounds awesome dave. fat sounding & nice & dry. compliments the kit well 👍
cheers!
amazing snare, i’ve wanted one for a long time and just found one for under $300. very excited. also those rude crashes sound great!
Loved that low tuning. I have the 3.5" free floating in maple and love it, but it can't do that!
I have the 3 1/2" in the brass and it's one of my favourite piccolos actually. The whole line of brass drums is fantastic I think.
Why you can do that? Ive got the 3'5 brass and can do any tunning...
I asked the guy I sold my 6.5x14 brass free floater to if I could buy it back and he said yes! I pick it up today!!
Nice one!
Drum sounds amazing tuned low🔥
It's not where I'd choose to have it, but I agree it sounds alright down too.
You're looking very healthy Dave, stay that way.
Thanks mate, I appreciate that.
hey dave. happy new year & keep em coming 👍👍
Thank you, and all the best to you!
Always wanted that set!

I had my eye on a second and copper shell FF snare... but alas still slightly out of my reach for now 🙁
Ive never tried a copper one. I do quite fancy one at some point
👌
This just makes me depressed that I sold mine in the 90’s. 😢
well tuned mate
what is that green label crash dude :)
Thank you.
It'll be a Paiste 1000 Rude I think
Sounds very Alex van Halen
without the talent and huge sticks tho...
Pearl must bring back the 14" x 6,5" Free Floater! :(
I actually see these all the time on ebay. They're not badly priced either for the most part.
@@DaveBatemansShed Thanks for the answere! Yes, but i want a brand new one... :( ;D
