  • Only by the teachings of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, like many Sikhs all over the world, we were able to do seva and serve as one. We, therefore, accept the recognition & award for outstanding work in the community - for 'Community Resourcefulness in Response to Covid-19' by The London Faith & Belief Forum - as one, on behalf of all Sikhs.
Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji started the concept of Langar - the free community kitchen - to highlight the importance of understanding true equality; The same light is within each and everyone one of us regardless of colour, creed, gender, age, or social background, therefore we all sit at do Simran (meditate) together and we eat together.
In March 2020, when Covid-19 closed all places of worship, we were blessed at GMGG, like many other Sikh Gurdwaras all over the world that our kitchens stayed open and we were still able to serve and share Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s Langar with people all over London & the UK.
To date, as the food programme continues at GMGG, we are blessed with what started with 20 bags of essential goods to people in our local community in Berkshire, very quickly turned into collaborating with over 130 charities, serving every area of London with over 1 million hot meals and the redistribution of 470 tonnes of donated food produce - all for free.
