Good video. I cannot imagine living somewhere that isn’t surrounded by mountains in all directions, reaching up to the sky. This place has its problems but it is incredibly beautiful.
This is an amazing documentary. I had to watch this for a class of mine in college and I was actually invested in it. I'm a Math and Film student at UW-Stout and I really appreciate how well structured this was and how amazing the cinematography was! Please keep up the great work!!!
This is great an it's sad that he has to deal with prejudice due to his skin color. Not a defense but most are small knit communities that are guarded an keep to themselves. Just have to be respectful when being on someone's property an to watch out when in the woods. Even I wouldn't feel safe considering theres a lot of illegal stuff done under that same beautiful landscape.
I like how they included the issues of race into this mix. Oftentimes for people of color to go out foraging in one of the most racist states in North America can be dangerous. Foraging sadly is not a safe space but rather can put those with bias in power over those who wish to enjoy the world we all come from. I am visiting West Virginia this fall for the first time in hopes to collect some mushrooms and wild greens. Being born in Hawaii and living mostly in Florida, the privilege of being raised in a culturally diverse area my entire life really puts into perspective how white passing north americans do not have those conversations with people of color and dismiss it as everyone shares the same experiences. I came here for plant knowledge and left with more just like foraging.
Beautiful, beautiful storytelling. The love, respect and connection for and with every living thing is woven throughout.
