One of my favorites in the series. It's not everyone's cup of tea but if you take it for what it is (a really good adventure RPG) you might find some enjoyment in it.
I think your investment in Trails as a series has a large impact on how much you get out of this game. Personally, I love the lore and worldbuilding and couldn’t get enough of the doors. I also thought the personal exploration of Kevin was beautiful, and I don’t mind that it doesn’t contribute a ton to the overall story. Opinions vary pretty widely on this one, but it’s often considered one of the best in the series among hardcore fans. I understand why you didn’t like it as much, though.
Well I consider myself a hard-core and this is my least favourite. I like the doors but Kevin story. It’s just flat out filler sorry not sorry. Yes it’s well written filler but still filler.
@@shuylervangestel7882 Yeah like I said opinions vary. I disagree that it's filler but to each their own. I think Reverie is much more of a filler game than 3rd.
@readytofall48 I agree I felt Revere and CS 4 where the worst games in the series (I'll play daybreak next month when it officially releases over in the west)
I think the devs knew that people were kind of sick of the map so they gave us a new setting. I liked it along with the insight we got to the cast via optional doors. I gave it a solid 7/10. Richard and Renne were definitely my favorite to use they were broken.
I think it's a good thing it's different : I would have gotten bored if I had to visit Liberl a third time. Here, it's a final goodbye to the Liberl cast, it expands a lot on the lore (Salt Pale, Bleublanc, the star door 14) sets up the Crossbell and the Cold Steel arc (that star door with Olivier, both Renne star doors), and finishes some character arcs (Richard for example). Gameplay is really awesome
Something you said in the video that explains how deep trails can get: there is an in-story reason why those "vanish", "death", and etc. turn bonuses are in Sky the 3rd and not in the previous games. They show up here because the entire game takes place inside the recluse cube, which is a sub-system of the Shinning Ring. As a sub-system of the Shinning Ring, the element that dominates this world inside the cube is space, one of the 3 higher elements. In any case, trails is great, but I understand that it's also a lot, and because it's a lot, I always encourage people to take breaks if they need it and to feel free to quit playing them at any time. You should be enjoying what you're playing, that's kind of the point of video games, and if you aren't, feel free to walk away. Lots of people love trails, and lots of people hate it, it's not for everyone, or even for most people, your mileage will vary.
Oh yeah... the lore goes deep, so you kinda cant play more than 2 or 3 games straight. Im happy that that cold steel came in pairs, 1 2 and 3 4, took a break in the middle
I just finished 3rd and while I enjoyed Kevin’s story and a good amount of the doors, I agree that it was way too disjointed for me to fully enjoy it. I’m playing Zero now and being back to a more structured story feels so nice, and finally, voice acting!
I truly can't believe they let me play as all the major characters, and made me form 4 parties at the end. The best post-game a game has ever had! The ending dialogue is the #1 most affecting ending in any JRPG too -- because it's not just about THEIR farewell, but about farewells in general, including farewells to characters in games that are about to end.
She was definitely the low tier character, especially when you got Richard and Renne. It wasn't like Anelace who got outshined by the other cast, but once you get her end game weapon she becomes the best member on your squad.
I think what got me the most was how it was told. Like I knew *something* was wrong but I was invested. Then...the reveal and I was like OH....and the imagry...FOR A TRIALS OF game?? I was like well damn. Alllllllllrighty then. Ngl still don't like Renne. There is a lot more context to how she acts which is great. And apparently there is a lot of character development for her ahead so maybe my opinion of her will change.
@@PelvicGaming Not liking Renne yet is understandable. But if you don't like her by the end of Zero. YOU HAVE NO SOUL =P. Everyone loves Azure, but honestly I think it's kinda overrated by the fanbase. Zero is better than Azure IMO. My fave short scene in all of trails is in zero where a certain someone is hiding in a closet. that's all I can say without spoiling anything.
@@PelvicGamingnot my girl renne. Just give it time. Personally I liked her from the start. She was a villain sure a kid villain she was always really interesting to me.
Im surprised you managed to make no mention of Renne door, that thing hit harder than drunk step-father. 3rd is certanly special in the trilogy i actually enjoyed it a lot more when i replayed it than i did on my first playthrough right after 2nd chapter.
yeah those doors were really dark and I liked the back story we get for the characters. Hell even the oliver door with osborn on the ship and his declaration to him.
I feel like you will like the Crossbell Duology more than the Sky trilogy. The SSS have the best chemistry of all the casts in Western Zemuria and their core have a relatable underdog story that establishes them from day 1. Crossbell also is just a much more interesting setting than the kingdom of Liberl which is kind of generic JRPG fantasy kingdom.
I love sky the 3rd. The doors are great lore building and i like all the combat. Plus kevin and ries are fantastic. Sky SC is my favorite though. Sky is still my favorite arc but the rest if series is great. When you play Zero you will be super thankful you played Sky
Also, I really hope you like Zero/Azure. I thought for a long time that nothing would top Sky 2 for me, but the Crossbell duology is legitimately awesome. I loved them.
yes I still love the sky trilogy the most but its cause I started with it. But holy fuck when shit hits the fan in azure it really does. one of these days maybe I blaze through all of them again you know for when the next one is coming.
@@nightwolf235 Hell yeah, Zero is really entertaining but once the "oh, SHIT." moments begin to pile up in Azure it absolutely elevates and recontextualizes the whole arc.
I pretty much agree with your take. I enjoyed the doors, but they feel so disconnected to what Kevin’s story is that it is off. And Kevin’s story, while I loved it, isn’t meaty enough to carry the entire game, so the whole affair jut kind of happens… despite having legitimately great Trails moments. So I will never call it a bad game because I don’t think there is a bad game in the Trails series, it just isn’t as cohesive is one would want.
I'm sorry it didn't totally vibe with you. I've grown to appreciate TitS3 more with time, honestly. I've been trying to make a spoiler-free "wiki" for a friend who's also into the series, and it's brought back how much setup TitS3 did, even for games not yet out in the west. For that reason, it really has remained memorable for me, in some ways moreso than the earlier games. Looking forward to your thoughts on the Crossbell arc!
Great review, as always!! I hope your stay in Japan is going smoothly and eventful (good eventful)! That and hope you’re feeling much better, too. Keep focusing on you, and keep being your awesome self!
I personally loved 3rd because I have a thing for more moody, somber psychological anime and 3rd does that very well, in its own Trails way. It doesn't quite measure up to my personal greatest in terms of storytelling for that specific niche (Evangelion and Cowboy Bebop chief among all) but it is well written enough, excepting some annoying slip-ups. Plus, it does contain the greatest piece of Trails writing ever (Star Door 15). But I relate to finding the experience of the main story a bit... disjointed and annoying. The finale brings it together really well, but the setup chapters are of... varying quality. Even though it does have some really interesting moments.
Great review! You're actually spot on! Falcom was planning for Crossbell and realized they still had a lot of setup to do, so they made the 3rd as a way to tie all this together. This is actually my favorite Trails game. It's fanservice the game indeed, but I am fan! I just love the Sky cast and their banter, so for me it was a beautiful farewell to them and a way to tell some of those lingering stories. I also love that it isn't a high stakes adventure but a very personal story and exploration of Kevin as a character, who is definitely not you standard JRPG protagonist. And the lore buff in me just loves picking this game apart. Too bad you didn't like it as much, but I understand based on your points and I'm glad you found some things to like. At least the combat focus helps a lot for those more luke-warm about the story, as it is the pinnacle of Sky combat with the little tweaks and it provides a good challenge overall. (Cassius Bright still haunts my nightmares). I hope you do have a good time in Crossbell when you get to it!
I loved this game. It was a great epilogue for the series, a declaration of love for these characters and their journeys. It was great to see how much they matured. In turn, the great thing about the game is that at the same time it also works as a prologue for what comes next. It is in this game that we see the ambition and scale of the series.
If you haven´t played one of the newer Trails games before i can tell you something. It definetely will pay out you played these ones. I started the whole series with cold steel 1. Which plays on a different continent with different characters. You get the basic infos. How does the world look like, whats an Orb System, What´s a bracer etc. But there are always those little nods to older games. You meet a character who for example knows Estelles Father. These are the small references. You can easily beat the games without knowing too much. Then at the end of Cold steel II AFTER the credits there is a whole three hour epilogue chapter with characters you never saw. (Turns out they are the Characters from Zero and Azure). In Cold Steel III both Storylines merge and you feel you have too large gaps to follow. It becomes worse when the Characters visit Liberl... Now all the games is nothing but question marks. The Gralsritter seem to be more important than expected. Why is Olivier insisting to join the party. And whats with his white outfit and the lute? Who is Sherazaard? The little Mechanic Tita and Agathe seem to have a history... And that was the moment i realized: All the previous arcs are now fused together. It´s like i started Star Wars with Episode VII and am wondering what is this fuss about Luke Skywalker and that green old Frog that looks like Grogu from the Mandalorian is about. So i paused the game and started playing Sky 1 to three which i finished. Since yesterday i started Zero... And after the first trilogy i´m already mindblown what an universe i missed.
Totally not hitting on you (100% gay man here) but you're one of the most magnetic people to listen to and watch - your mind, the way you speak, the way you speak your mind, how you can effortlessly blend nerd and cool, your gestures and manner, not to mention you're the most beautiful woman (you knocked the late Chynna Rogers off the top spot in my humble opinion)! Thank you so very much for all your hard work. Sending you best wishes all the way from New Zealand.
Played TOCS I-II then FC-SC but never really finished TC, it's so off from the rest lol, currently playiong TOCS III now and been enjoying it so far as much I I've enjoyed the first 2, it's pretty popular for the "hardcore" fans to bash on the newer games but they can kiss my shiny pom.
Really enjoying these videos on the Trails series. Always been interested in them but there's no way I have the time or attention span to sink into them all with life and literally every other game out there, so these reviews and summaries are superb! Hoping you're having a fantastic time in Japan!
just a quick thing its not "trails of " its just trails. there are only 4 trails games with "of" in the title well if you exclude the "the legend of heroes" part as its really never said when talking about trails.
My advice on getting tons of Sepith/money in these games: 1 - On Sepith Bonus turns, use/S-Break into an S-Craft that hits the enemy (or enemies) multiple times 2 - Equip Septium Vein Quartz/other Quartz that can further boost Sepith drops from enemies (the boost you get is no joke) 3 - Keep note of enemies that drop all types of Sepith (even if it is just 1 of each), as this is most effective against them 4 - Alternatively, kill Shining Poms. Even better if you can do so on Sepith Bonus turns. For example, Lloyd's "Tiger Charge" S-Craft hits a single enemy multiple times. On Sepith Bonus turns, each hit forces the enemy to drop Sepith. And the more Sepith an enemy has, the greater the amount of Sepith you'll get with this strategy. There are a lot of characters in this series (even some in the Sky trilogy, like Estelle) that have S-Crafts that are capable of this. As long as you take advantage of Sepith Bonus turns like this as often as possible, then you'll rarely ever run into money trouble.
The Sky the 3rd situation reminds me a lot of what happened to Final Fantasy IX. A lot of people used to find the game weird after playing FF VII and VIII, but it ended up becoming one of the most beloved entries in the series. i've been seeing a lot of tier lists recently putting Sky the 3rd on the top for the trilogy, when it used to be a bit of a black sheep and some people would even recommend that you skip it.
with the art, nihon falcom is a very small company so they need to think about where they are putting their time and money into, which leads to the art being "generic" i personally think the art is very charming. Falcom puts alot of their money and time into the story and music leaving the art to "suffer". i get that its a criticisms and its a fair one, if you don't care for the art then so be it, its not the end of the world. but i feel like its a disservice to falcom to not mention the small size of the company and the limitations that it forces on them. for example trails through daybreak had only 7 programmers and the art was mostly outsourced. falcom has now used the same artist for daybreak 1, 2, kai, and zero. so it seems like they are trying to stick to an art style now.
Haha I completely agree with you that the character art is not ideal for marketing. I mean one of the key points in marketing is to take a character's silhouette and if that character is immediately recognizable you have done a good job. I think even me who loves the games would not be able to name every character as a silhouette! But on the other hand I also love the art style and fashion sense of the characters. Because the characters feel real and practical like they live in a living, breathing world. I could actually wear any of the gear the character wear in real life and probably not feel that out of place. While you could never catch me dead in half of the clown boat gear you see in other major franchises. Like the ronald mcdonald shoes you see in a lot of Square games or the billion zippers/buttons lol. But they make for characters that stand out thats for sure!
I agree with the silhouette bit. Like I can get behind the character design, I have no issue with that what so ever. It's the STYLE. I just need a STYLE.
@@PelvicGaming The style gets a bit better in future games. But yeah this is just not Falcoms fortitude haha. They are basically just an indie company who has been around the block for a while. They had mostly the same people doing the art, music, story throughout their entire history as a company. Not gonna lie now that I think about it, when I first saw trails of sky FC on PSP. I thought the same damn thing, "wow this game looks extremely generic". I did not expect much at all but I ended up like so many others, a crack addict who just went through a cliff hanger begging Xseed people to give me the next hit. I was one of the lucky ones, since I didn't play it until a few years before SC released. Some people were literally waiting like 15 plus years to see the continuation, haha.
@@PelvicGaming I mean, like you said, they are early PSP games lol. Don't expect huge stylish graphic. Also Falcom is a really niche company with less than 80 employees (2023), so imagine in 2004.
@@filipealencar1019 Wild. But to be clear, I certainly did. I personally HATE when people say " OH WAIT TILL YOU GET TO X CHAPTER/ X DOOR / X THING CAUSE IT GO CRAZY ". Instead of letting people discover it themselves. It's not a MAJOR part of the overall story, I state what doors do, now *you the player* go out and find the doors. If I say WHOA CHECK OUT DOOR X now I've set an expectation for the player. If they go in blind (as I did) I believe it hits much harder. But it's cool. Have your doubts, filipealencar1019.
Why would it need to be mentioned? It’s like when you start a show and people say “Don’t get too attached harharhar” Great thanks for letting me know instead of finding it out by myself!
@@filipealencar1019 homie what? a good review doesn't need to break down every single plot point, I'd actually prefer people didn't spoil that particular door.
I did really appreciate a few moments in this game. Specially the more tender ones with a certain character. But as a game, 3rd is easily my least favorite. And am at my 7th (ToCSII). Hopefully you'll continue the series. I'm quite enjoying your reviews :D
I loved 3rd personally, but It's known for being divisive. I played Cold Steel 1 and 2 which released on console BEFORE 3rd was released on pc so I had a lot of context for the things that appeared in 3rd.
the 3rd felt like one final goodbye to Liberl and all of its characters, and in that regard I really did enjoy it, fanservice galore. The main plot I wasn't the biggest fan of but it is a sweet story and a good character exploration. lq ries was done dirty though, for being the only new cast member she really doesn't get a lot. The music in the 3rd is once again really great! probably my favorite with its ethereal and unique atmosphere, fits so well with the story too. Aster Home is probably my favorite track but I also really liked the battle theme and Jade Corridor~~ really wish the remaster arrangements were as strong as the first game's but they changed too much, the originals have a stronger musical identity I think. (whole series discussion down below so look away new people) also idk if this is controversial or not but I do think in retrospect a lot of the foreshadowing/hint-hint-wink-wink bits kinda were the developers shooting themselves in the foot a lil' just because I don't think in terms of the "overall series narrative" they never tie things together all that nicely and in-game it really is a pace-breaker when you find a new lore-dump door, it's a lil' too gammy to chew on. When I think about what I like in the overall narrative a lot of it is just character arcs carrying over (but that can also overshadow the new cast) and not really the lore bits (it's interesting but sometimes they retcon stuff kinda terribly or prevent interesting character conflict).
It'a really nice hearing a newcomer's view on Falcom/Trails. I got thoroughly turned off Falcom titles by Trails in the Sky First, Ys Origin demo, AND Tokyo Xanadu. It's a shame as they're apparently so good, but... Anyway, love your reviews--and hair--as always.
The problem with Sky 3rd is also what makes the series overall so great for me: Like 85% of the story and character moments you get in this game are leading up to payoffs further down the line - some not even until Cold Steel. First time I played it, I wasn't a fan. Then I came back after having finished Cold Steel and Crossbell and I appreciate Sky 3rd so much more. I absolutely adore this series but I do feel like it's impossible to recommend to anyone for this exact reason.
I am genuinely surprised that people didn't find it predictable? I have only played the "Sky" series so I can't comment on other protags, but reveals did not at all surprise me.
@@PelvicGaming I suppose we don't all predict the same things, I clocked Weissman as a twist villain the second he showed up but I really didn't see all the twists for Kevin in part because I assumed (with reasons) that the series would never be that dark.
@@sjstronghold9238i feel like the story took a very dark turn with several characters backstories even from back in sky 2. Hell a town was wiped out and erased from history. And then in 3rd we get a star door that most reviewers who talk about it give a trigger warning for its context.
Weissman I was suspicious of with no good reason other than, bitch why do you keep showing up randomly? He's just...always around. That and when his eyes opened up slightly I was like you're giving...."can't be trusted". Yo, I thought he was Joshua's biological dad at first. I was throwing everything at the wall and seeing what sticks haha. To me, what I didn't expect to get so dark was Door 15. THAT, for Trails of I was like OH... we're going here are we??? Like the imagery. I was like ok I see you.
ahh it was actually nice to see your review, I don't have a PC (a macbook girl here) and I did play FC and SC on psp but never was able to play the third. Kind of really wish they someday put it all out on switch or something so I can play it :')
I don't know what it is about the two tracks you shared, but they remind me of the early days of RedBook audio, like something you would've heard in a Turbo CD game or something on PC from that era; Castlevania: Rondo of Blood and Legend of Kyrandia 3 come to mind. It's a really neat era of sound design, in my opinion, so it's cool to see a game that came out so much later calling back to that, whether or not it's intentional.
I really enjoyed what the doors would give me in this game, but there was this sort of daunting feeling to them before starting one, like I knew I was walking into a bit of a slog, even if I knew it going to be worth it. Something that probably helped me with this game was taking a small break between each chapter. It spread out the worst parts of the game, and the last 2~3 chapters were real highlights for me, causing the game to end on an overall high note.
I know I've got my beef with the first three games; I actually kinda find them unplayable, and I contented myself with watching recaps. I started with Cold Steel, worked back to Crossbell, and then wanted to hit these, and just couldnt. Crossbell is gonna blow your mind though.
I highly advise you play the game since I love the series just dont burnt yourself out going through them all. They get longer and longer with each installment and it can and probably will cause burnt out.
The best way i can describe TOS 3rd is its a single dungeon jrpg with a visual novel perspective to it, a far cry departure of the first two games. How ever 3rd is very immportant because it sets up lore pieces and world building that is overarching for the entire trails saga. Also there is star door 15.. just saying lol. The good news is you will never ever have to play a game this linear again as the rest of them follow the more conventional jrpg progression format.
I've completed six games in the series so far. I'm currently playing CS3 and I'm really enjoying it. Having been introduced to the series through Cold Steel, my playthrough have been a bit jumbled; CS1, CS2, Zero, (then I bought a Steam Deck which lead to...), Sky 1, Sky 2, Azure, and now CS3. I own Sky 3rd but opted to skip it.
Technically is the second game as Sky FC and SC were meant to be just one game that turned out to be too long and was splitted in two, anyway, nice review, I love the 3rd, it wraps everything up before moving out to the next location, take Zero as something similar to Sky FC, slowburner who acts as introduction to Crossbell and the new characters, but Azure will probably blow your mind
I've played all the games up through the first two Cold Steel and completely agree with you. Third was a weird and disappointing way to conclude one of my favorite RPG stories in the first two Sky games. I've stalled out halfway through Cold Steel but hope I can get my enthusiasm up to continue.
Cold Steel 2 is a bit of a disappointing slog, but Cold Steel 3 easily makes up for it and then some. Everything from the pacing, graphics, presentation, and gameplay features are massively improved. CS3 is where you'll really start to get the payoff of playing the earlier games. It's kinda like the Infinity War of Trails.
The 2007 version of 3rd didn't have turbo or high resolution support. Also the reason we didn't get 3rd on PSP is because by 2017 Sony no longer allowed NISA to releasea game for the PSP, they straight out weren't allowed even a digital release. (The PS Vita game was also liscensed out to a Chinese company. So that might've caused issues with sharing it with NISA. No idea about the PS3 version barely heard anything on it. But the Vita games extra features can largely be modded onto PC and it's not too difficult to mod it in) Honestly I've heard both people who praise these graphics and are worried about the transition to fully 3D and people who don't like them, so it can go both ways. But I do agree that they probably are keeping the series more difficult to get into, because a lot of modern gamers won't have appreciation for old game graphics. (I did hear the newest game coming in July Trails through Daybreak is a good jump on point though!)
Did I read it? Sure. Am I going to REMEMBER IT probably not...lol. Honestly I feel like in between Arcs or even games I'm gonna have to watch a recap. Cause there is just SOOO much information!
Review felt very dismissive in nature. Not just for 3rd specifically, but for the arc as a whole. Was more like a quick checkmark before heading on to future installments. Hope you don't feel the need to rush towards the last game in the series so far, but it might be a side effect of close people hyping it up for you.
@@CC_Reads I get what you mean but from here on out these games are hitting like 60 hrs -120hrs to complete everything in one playthrough. Thats completeing all quest collecting all books newspapers and all without a 2nd playthrough. Hell I played through Skys 1-3 , zero -azure and then cold steel 1-2 from the summer to like nov when 3 was released and I felt that burnt out lol its alot for gaming.
Definitely felt like a siqequest the way she described it haha i went into this right on release day just like second and was engrossed in all the added content idk i like the set up of this just like reverie where its trails but not over kill padded trails
@@CC_Readsi didn’t rush at all and wasn’t spoiled on anything. But I don’t spend time in “fandoms” or whatever. Regular people don’t drop trails spoilers lol.
As usual I loved your review, kudos to you for taking on seemingly taking on the whole franchise, I'm just playing from Cold Steel forward and it's already a big ordeal just thinking of all the sequels i need to get to eventually.
Thank you. I'm going to go as far as I want to go, if I'm not enjoying the series there is no reason for me to push myself to continue cause it's just gonna be a negative review. Like why play a game I know I'm not gonna enjoy, ya know? Right now, it's fine. I do prefer F/SC to this but everyone hypes up the Crossbell arc so I'm hoping for good things. It's certainly daunting thinking about the sequels so that's why...I'm not. I'm just going at my own pace. The games will still be there when I choose to get to 'em.
@@PelvicGaming This is definitely a good idea imo - I haven't played these games because I'm worried about like "needing" to play em all in a row to remember important details but tbh going through ten+ games seems like wayyy too much of a commitment so def take a break for a bit and come back fresh!
No where near is crazy. I can understand why most think SC is better, but 3rd keeps it short and concise and doesn't need to pad unlike SC's first few chapters which feel extremely formulaic
Honestly Im glad I played through Legend of heroes trails in the sky 3rd chapter. I played 1st chapter back on the psp and when 2nd chapter came out same thing on psp. At the time I didnt have a good pc to work with so I didnt play 3rd chapter, I ended up playing cold steel 1&2 on vita. When cold steel 3 got announced a friend of mine who runs a gaming website mentioned to me 3 was on the way and that if I like the series I needed to play the crossbell arc which honestly wasnt even aware we were missing and arc. So i made the choice I got 3rd chapter on steam and i enjoyed the hell out of it. Played the crossbell arc with fan translation and then went into the ps4 versions of cold steel 1&2 and you see alot of the mentions and through backs. Characters mention incidents that if you didnt play the previous game it goes over your head. theres alot of lore in all these games, hell the newspapers and books play into the story as well. Definitely need to take your time and not rush the series. It is beloved by alot.

One of my favorites in the series. It's not everyone's cup of tea but if you take it for what it is (a really good adventure RPG) you might find some enjoyment in it.
What a coincidence, I was just going through that now too! Waiting for your take!
It's actually my second favorite probably out of all the games in the series. The mysterious nature of zemuria in this game is soooo intriguing
Well I consider myself a hard-core and this is my least favourite. I like the doors but Kevin story. It’s just flat out filler sorry not sorry. Yes it’s well written filler but still filler.
@@shuylervangestel7882 until September when Kai comes out and he comes back and his tale becomes extremely relevant again.
Picking the teams was difficult only because I wanted balanced teams also I instinctively pair certain characters together.
I love the third to be able to play with all the characters and learn more about them, but I like lore
Love the hair and review! Thanks
Josette is the meg griffin of trails
She was definitely the low tier character, especially when you got Richard and Renne. It wasn't like Anelace who got outshined by the other cast, but once you get her end game weapon she becomes the best member on your squad.
Glad you're feeling better Lady P. Are you planning on doing a video of your adventures in Japan? I think that'd be cool to see.
Love the honest reviews as always. The star doors to me made up for the overall story of 3rd. I am very curious your thoughts on Star Door 15.
@@Ghalion666 "Caught you!" Watch out for that line. Get's me every single time.
@@Groffili Yeah. I only played through Zero once, but that was definitely a powerful moment too.
Yeah the Olivier door with Osborne still gives me goosebumps at the end. Great Olivier moment
I feel like you will like the Crossbell Duology more than the Sky trilogy. The SSS have the best chemistry of all the casts in Western Zemuria and their core have a relatable underdog story that establishes them from day 1. Crossbell also is just a much more interesting setting than the kingdom of Liberl which is kind of generic JRPG fantasy kingdom.
re: not having enough money, you can exchange sepith for money and there is a quartz called dragon vein that makes enemies drop more sepith.
We went from the childhood friend duo to a priest and his nun bestie duo.
I love Trails so much, it's just the best JRPG series of all time
Sky 1 is prologue, 2 is the main game, 3 is the epilogue and post game
This and reverie are my favorite trails just because it wraps things up with alot to do and enjoy im biased gaha
i love this channel a lot i love your videos please keep it up!!!!
Thank you so much!
Yea, this is either a love it or hate it type of game
I appreciate a good game soundtrack
Did you do all the star doors?
Yes
4:18 get used to this because this happens a lot.
Oh wow! What a compliment. Thank you so much! ♡ I appreciate the kind words.
You gonna do a vlog about your journey in Japan ?
Played TOCS I-II then FC-SC but never really finished TC, it's so off from the rest lol, currently playiong TOCS III now and been enjoying it so far as much I I've enjoyed the first 2, it's pretty popular for the "hardcore" fans to bash on the newer games but they can kiss my shiny pom.
So glad I found you! You're like the quiet part of gaming that isn't spoken out loud anymore. Happy you still enjoyed the 3rd chapter btw!
Josette hate :_: I just think she's neat....
Really enjoying these videos on the Trails series. Always been interested in them but there's no way I have the time or attention span to sink into them all with life and literally every other game out there, so these reviews and summaries are superb!
Hoping you're having a fantastic time in Japan!
Same for me ! I dont have time to invest in a 100h rpg game right now.
just a quick thing its not "trails of " its just trails. there are only 4 trails games with "of" in the title well if you exclude the "the legend of heroes" part as its really never said when talking about trails.
Just Cold Steel, don't know why people call it that.
4:09 pelvic next big love
My advice on getting tons of Sepith/money in these games:
1 - On Sepith Bonus turns, use/S-Break into an S-Craft that hits the enemy (or enemies) multiple times
2 - Equip Septium Vein Quartz/other Quartz that can further boost Sepith drops from enemies (the boost you get is no joke)
3 - Keep note of enemies that drop all types of Sepith (even if it is just 1 of each), as this is most effective against them
4 - Alternatively, kill Shining Poms.
Once when im done with some of my backlog im probably going to replagy the sky trilogy because i can't remember a lot except the big moments.
how can you not talk about star door 15
Ez
Congrats!
I think this is the only 3rd review I've ever seen that doesn't mention Star Door 15
Yeah…
It makes me question whether the person actually played the game.
@@PelvicGaming Love your approach here. Surprises are rare these days.
Why would it need to be mentioned?
It’s like when you start a show and people say “Don’t get too attached harharhar”
Great thanks for letting me know instead of finding it out by myself!
@@filipealencar1019 homie what? a good review doesn't need to break down every single plot point, I'd actually prefer people didn't spoil that particular door.
I don’t plan on playing the Trails series at the moment but that thumbnail was too good not to click🥵🔥
Keep up the good work!!!
How do you get through theses jrpgs so quick. It takes me months to get through one of them
I did really appreciate a few moments in this game.
Favorite Pelvic hairstyle methinks. Slightly unrelated, but you ever play Bomb Rush Cyberfunk?
the 3rd felt like one final goodbye to Liberl and all of its characters, and in that regard I really did enjoy it, fanservice galore.
(whole series discussion down below so look away new people)
also idk if this is controversial or not but I do think in retrospect a lot of the foreshadowing/hint-hint-wink-wink bits kinda were the developers shooting themselves in the foot a lil' just because I don't think in terms of the "overall series narrative" they never tie things together all that nicely and in-game it really is a pace-breaker when you find a new lore-dump door, it's a lil' too gammy to chew on.
Man, past Amber probably didn't imagine present Amber would be getting sick for the second time in Japan as of the release of this video.
Like the big hair lil mama
Hope u played all sky games with the voice acting mod....
It will boost the enjoyment by 100%!!!!
That mask pairing in your background is jaw-dropping! 😮
That is the first time I ever head Kevin's story is predictable. The game actually made me see him as the most original protagonist of the series.
I was like ok I see you.
it's "predictable" in a way that you can have an idea about what happened, nevertheless it's the HOW and the details that were shocking imo.
I know it's not your thing, but you should play Disco Elysium. It have earned a place alongside Chrono Trigger and FFIX in my heart.
That 👏 look 👏 is 👏 on👏 point!
No it's not
I enjoyed listening to the review while playing animal crossing nh.
ahh it was actually nice to see your review, I don't have a PC (a macbook girl here) and I did play FC and SC on psp but never was able to play the third.
Well you guys love to spoil things for people so not that fun. Sorry I'm not reading an Excel sheet to play Kuro no keseki 2 years early
@CC-xy8nn hey chief, chill out. I've been dodging spoilers too, I'm playing on localized release. Easy there friend.
Thats the problem you started the series with cold steel duh 🙄 the first trilogy is perfect
Narratively, maybe. I'm certainly a fan of Team Liberl.
i still have to try this series, i just think its kinda too slow paced
The whole series have a turbo button if you need speed
@@manulopez4697honestly bless that turbo function. As I get older Im like I need to make it to point A to B in 1min not 3 lol
Lol reverie is linear af
@@nepu6373 Havn't played Reverie so I can't speak on that one. But she has along ways to go before that game.
There are also manga tie ins for the next arc and for the other arcs theres are audio dramas between games 😅
Also happy belated birthday
This game series is daunting to get into, so props to anyone able to manage it.
I've never heard of thos series before. Nice video 👍 (side note, your hair style is amazing)
Loving this thumbnail. Signals a good video.👍🏾
But the Vita games extra features can largely be modded onto PC and it's not too difficult to mod it in)
Honestly I've heard both people who praise these graphics and are worried about the transition to fully 3D and people who don't like them, so it can go both ways. But I do agree that they probably are keeping the series more difficult to get into, because a lot of modern gamers won't have appreciation for old game graphics. (I did hear the newest game coming in July Trails through Daybreak is a good jump on point though!)
3 was fire. Expecting to hate but loved it 😂
jp voice pack for this trilogy will enhance your experence even more
This, the voice acting is so good. I cant imagine playing this trilogy without the jp voice pack.
I hope you read it carefully during the Olivert and Osborne door. Because that one shook me about what happens six games later.
Did I read it? Sure. Am I going to REMEMBER IT probably not...lol.
Honestly I feel like in between Arcs or even games I'm gonna have to watch a recap. Cause there is just SOOO much information!
Peak
Lol the channel name.
Review felt very dismissive in nature. Not just for 3rd specifically, but for the arc as a whole. Was more like a quick checkmark before heading on to future installments. Hope you don't feel the need to rush towards the last game in the series so far, but it might be a side effect of close people hyping it up for you.
You do need to rush. Because people insist on spoiling all of the surprises years before they are released worldwide

I might have to get this!
Still beautiful I see
Hair is giving me 80s vibrations
I do prefer the 3rd to fc but its nowhere near SC. I do overall the game but yeah it makes sense why 3rd is considered the black sheep
Great review and humor!
Never played sky trilogy.
However trails from zero is awesome 😍
Glamorous hair for a stylish review 🎉
Well that was a quick trip to Japan
FJB
That is all.
