I picked up a Pixel 8 over the holidays with discounts and trade-in for $324. At that price it was a no brainer. It is massively better than my old Pixel 4a
Cracking deal
I got one and I'm not sure it's better than my 4a 5g. It's kind of the same in everything, except it's brighter at night time in dark rooms and has green tints in shadows. I think I may prefer the 4a 5g TBH. Both cameras are good enough.
The 8 is also heavier.
Im still rocking the 4a and even that still produces some decent images. Im sure anyone will be more than well served with either of them
Agreed. My 4a, and even 3a before that, took better pictures than my 6a. They focused better for macros and were more consistent in general. Maybe I got a faulty 6a, but it makes me feel like they purposely degraded the quality in order to make the improvements in the next two generations more sell worthy. Then they cranked up the 7a to be even better than the 8's. Wild. I'm personally upgrading to the 8 now though for the amount of additional benefits.

cool vid but what does the title have to do with the actual content? there's no shocking truth being revealed whatsoever.
I'm pretty sure the **Shocking truth is** "You don't have to spend 800/700 pounds to get a decent picture quality, 7a brings it for half of that price"
You know guys, to be honest the 7a produces colors a little warmer and sometimes with better color and I definitely really like that. In pixel 8 samsung camera modules produce colors with a grayish tint.

The front video camera at night doesn't look like 4K resolution, 480p at best, everything else looks great.

Most of the phone mirror the fron camera but this can easily be changed in camera settings

Well, I think my Poxel 6a goes toe to toe with my Pixel 8 pro. The only difference I see is in low-light where the newer sensors produce more detail and less noise.
I'm not surprised. Pixel 6a is still one of the best mid-range camera phones

I am personally very pleased with my Pixel 7a - in fact I absolutely LOVE it! I have done some professional photography in the past and continue to be obsessed with every opportunity to take a photo - never believed I would migrate from DSLR to mobile for most of the time!

I absolutely love the Snapdragon 8 gen 2 on s23 and optical zoom. Supports Dolby Atmos sound technology and adaptive refresh rate. However the pixel 8 is cheaper. You get nice,clean android experience and better design in my opinion. For the camera I think pixel is more reliable 😁

if Google would let TSMC manufacturing their SoC's then the Tensor driven devices would play on another level. with an more energy efficient and cooler running chip i definitely would see the Pixel lineup as an alternative to the Exynos crap which is Samsung unloading again all over Europe.

It can't 😊 yet a Samsung A14 can , plus an A14 has manual pro mode . Obviously the pixel 7a takes better photos in auto mode . It always surprises me why all the pixel lineup don't have manual pro mode yet a base model Samsung does 🤔

Here in Austria Google gives you a 50 € discount when you buy the Pixel 8 together with FREE Pixel Buds A (which you can sell for 50 €) and they offer trade-ins which are very attractive. For my iPhone 11 128GB they offer me 320€ which is 20 % above market value.
So all together the Pixel 8 would cost me ~ 640 €. Not that bad in my opionion :)
But I prefer the form factor and coral color of the 7a ...

Well I wouldn't pay the full price for the pixel 8 specially here in India where its close to 830$... So I got an open box 2 weeks old pixel 8 at 675$... Well the low resale value of pixels does help sometimes... 😊
