The former for intellectual disabilities and the latter for physical disabilities.

Sam Hyde that is not true, special olympics are for bringing people with intellectual disabilities together through the power of sport, they can learn to socialize, make new friends and have fun through sports, the special Olympics is giving people a meaning in life, those people can hold jobs and relationships, they are not for retards, many athletes in the special Olympics are also very smart and are very talented
The Paralympics u have that right, they are for people with physical disabilities but let me ask u this
*can Paralympic athletes compete in the special Olympics?* the answer is yes, there are classifications for para athletes with intellectual disabilities, which if the special Olympics is an inclusive organization for people with intellectual disabilities they are allowed to participate (even people with cerebral palsy are even allowed as well)
So if you think special olympics is for retards, are u saying that Paralympians are also retarded as well?!?!?!?!
I’m a special olympic athlete from Canada that runs track, I’ve been able to run the 100m in 11.04 seconds and the 200m In 22.75 (faster than any para athlete in Canada respectfully) I have many friends in the special Olympics, graduated college with honors and holds a jobs, if the special Olympics weren’t a thing I’d be sitting at home with no friends and eat potato chips and stay home for the rest of my life, now that would be retarded
