I've just ordered this album yesterday and was concerned it was going to skip. But this makes me feel better! The other day I bought her other album and all the reviews were saying it skips like mad. But I put it on and it plays perfectly perfectly fine. I think the reason why everyone else's copies are skipping is cause of the amount of bass in her music is so heavy- most people have the suitcase turntables with the built in speakers and they're not the best quality. I dont have a suitcase player so I didn't have any problems.

At this point, I am 1000% certain, it's cheap players. I think you will be fine. I play them almost every day, with no problems at all

@@GreggAdventure yeah I agree! I literally just got the album this morning and just finished playing it. Plays with no skips or problems 😁 did have a couple of those unusual black marks on it but apart from that it plays great

I was wondering if these recurrent issues I've seen with LPs might be due to the turntable used. Yours seems pretty awesome, Do you have any recommendation of a very solid turntable that doesn't end up scratching or skipping vinyls?

    • @GreggAdventure
      @GreggAdventure  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

Yea, I think allot of these cheap suitcase type players, just don't cut it. I love my Marathon TT-101USB. EBAY may have one. For $200 you can get this Sony: amzn.to/2XlzaWX or, for $99 (or even $75 at the moment) You can grab an ION, which will treat you well for the money: amzn.to/2TqHkMv

Fluance are awesome and lot better priced than others (while better quality!) Ours is rt-82 which was about 300 and it's marvellous - and very customizable which means you can easily upgrade parts for even better/different sounds if you ever feel the need a few years down the road. They're very heavy and precise (dont know the word for it, veery low flutter i think it was, the speed fluctuations thing). Really really great quality turntables. Look up some other reviews around here and on audiophile subreddit for example :D
      * there's also less expensive 80 and 81 (and a few pricier ones- with some more fancy parts which are likely overkill for you too)
*Rt 81 might be the best bang for you buck/budget i think.

Just ignore the massive amount of people mentioning audio technica lp60, 120 etc - they're more expensive and so so so much ..less good (sorry, tired so worfs are escaping me). They're just so well known because tons of people just buy the first not-too-expensive-thing they see widely mentioned. There are so much better turntables for the same money

I'm confused, I got this same album from target and whenever it plays heavy bass, it skips! Is that a vinyl problem or is that a record player problem? I have a byron statics record player so maybe its just that? Or should I buy another album but from amazon this time?

    • @GreggAdventure

Hi, there's actually a discussion about this, in comments left recently on here. It's definitely the player. Suitcase players just don't cut it.

So I want to buy a Victrola player and I dont know to much about this things. I see some videos about riviews and stuff like that. I have a only question about it. When you play the song, you have to move it everytime you want another song or the move it automatically util they vinyl play all songs? I dont know if u understand my question cause I dont know to much english hahaha. Please help :( 🥺

Hi! Vinyl is so much fun to own. I would avoid the really cheap players you see at Walmart, that look like a Suitcase. Have a look at the ones in my Description.
When a record starts, the groves in the record move the needle along. Every song on that side of the record, will play, in succession. Some players, will re-rack the arm when the side is done. Other will leave it at the end of the record, and you re-rack it yourself. Records have music on both sides, so, you will need to flip it yourself. You can listen to specific songs, but, you will need to place the needle at the start of that song, yourself. The songs are separated by a visible thicker groove

It’s probably your turntable the really cheap. Crosleys and other low end skip a ton on modern records

Apple i use a Denver VPL-118. It works fine with other vinyls and I think the main problem why the vinyl skips is that many of her songs have a really low bass, and the needle tends to skip over it. Some people have told me to place a penny on top of the needle, to add some more weight, and I’ve tried it but decided to never do it again since I was afraid I’d damage the vinyl.
So, what you’re saying is probably right.

@@GreggAdventure Man that was cruel, it probably caused scratches, that inner is heavy duty paper, it already isn't the best to keep a record in plus if you take it out like that what you have is a recipe for a disaster. Vinyl is fragile and needs careful handling, it isn't like tissue paper but it gets damaged way easier than it
