Unpopular opinion:
I'm beginning to think weapons are not the MAIN issue here. Yes, it would be NICE to have a horse like Allen on the outside to beat 1 on 1's, shift defenses and be a consistent redzone target. But honestly we have lots of decent role players with rising potential especially if we pick up Williams and Chark returns to form. That should be plenty enough for a protected Herbert to work with. NE went 20 years with almost nothing on the perimeter (aside from an aged Moss) and now KC is about to 3 peat with a bunch of Joes on the outside. Considering how much WRs cost now and the havoc their egos can create, I don't think we go that route.
The problem is we are a run first team that can't run. Not since week 2 have we had a dominant ground performance which is supposed to be the whole reason we went with Roman in the first place. When opponents aren't afraid of a rush attack, passing lanes close and medial receiving talent gets exposed, thus we lose explosiveness and then it becomes a tight game where one mistake decides it. On top of that, Herbert slings it as well as anyone, his passes are F'ing poetry, but defenses don't ever fear him taking off on foot so they can sit back even more and plug routes. Even considering this, Herbert is shelling out and somehow has only thrown 1 pick in 6 games and the defense is excellent, but physicality and LOS management always wins.
I say we continue to keep things balanced, fix the interior Oline first instead of turning back into the Chargers of old where it's Herbert with 1 great WR and he better throw for 325 and 3 tds or they're getting blown out.

5 FGs, no TDs. You’re asking for trouble. And that fumble inside the five was a killer, and not being able to run on an Arizona defense, which typically doesn’t do well stopping the run.

As a chargers fan, are new fans and critics are expecting Harbaugh to change the entire culture of the Chargers organization in one season with a sub-par roster? Yes, Herbert is great but he’s currently throwing to plummers and two of our starting corners last night were late round picks from THIS year’s draft. Mahomes has been throwing to garbage WRs for years and his only good one got hurt weeks ago. Mahomes is coming off back to back superbowls and hes 6-0. You think Mahomes would go 6 quarters without a TD drive? Stop making excuses for Herbert, hes playing like garbage and has been for the past 12 games going back to last year.

I am DEEPLY worried that Herbert is becoming Rivers 2.0 - what I mean is a QB that can absolutely win SB’s. But the organization can’t get their act together to make it happen. Herbert is right to be pissed off.
I'm MORE worried that he is a lot like Andrew Luck ? And he will WALK away in a couple more years ! The QB he reminds me the most of & he also is HAVING the same problems around him !

I so agree!! 1. Harrison was bent over so almost impossible to tackle him without helmets slightly kissing. 2. Stagnant play calling in red zone. Like Vidal or Dobbins cld easily run the famous Hardman SB winning play. 3. Harbaugh needs to shake up predictable OC Roman. Roman needs to study winning play calls from other dynamic teams.
At this point I have no expectations anymore let’s just see how we do if anything for this team a playoff win is the highest ceiling for them just being honest

Dionte Johnson was the first player that came to my mind. He would be a steal because he’s only ever played for bad QBs so he doesn’t have the stats to demand a large contract. Mike Williams though would be huge!
Dionte Johnson was also my first person for a trade. 30 receptions / 357 yards under a bad panthers team is pretty good imo. Imagine the numbers he would do under herbert and also help our young WR's too 💯. Love mike too tho ngl but Johnson 100% a guy i woukd trade for first

Herbert balled this game, he did his part. the Cardinals where a much more physical team than us, they were playing as if this was their season was on the line. I hate doing this, but I am comparing our chargers to the chiefs, what is the difference between the two teams? the Chiefs can play great football with so many injuries on their team, we cannot. The chargers also cannot overcome silly mistakes like Tart and Reagor fumbles. I trust Harbaugh, he will get things right and we have 3 games to get our offense right before the Bengal game. Greg Roman needs to figure out how to be creative. On a side note I am disappointed in Brendan Rice, when he was in the game he was late on his get off twice and was lost in the play that cost the timeout, I was hoping he would have a game to show himself, but I am worried he will be inactive for the rest of the season.
If we don’t make trades, this is a 8 win team at best. If we only win 8 games, Harbaugh 1 is a disappointment
8? lol. This team will be lucky to win 6. Just like I said over the summer after the draft and they made no moves to get any weapons. It's a 5-6 win team in 2024 NFL. it's a PASSING league.

This game was very disappointing and super frustrating. I don’t even want to go this Sunday if this is what’s to be expected. No run game no receivers. I’d rather sell my tickets and avoid that LA traffic at this point.

We have weapons! Harbaugh thinks O lineman ARE weapons. Remember every time someone asked who Herbert is going to throw to after losing every, single offensive playmaker and he talked about the O line? How's that working out? Bowers should have been the pick. Could have got an O lineman in free agency or later in the draft.

We have to remember that this is year 1 of this rebuild… like it or not, this is not a finished product. There are obvious holes that still need filled thanks to the last administration. Herbert needs weapons desperately. My guess is that won’t happen this year…

Fire Greg Roman and hire Tanner Engstrand from the Lions (who have the third best offense in the league, is considered a prodigy of Ben Johnsons, and has ties to Harbaugh from USD to Michigan)
