Supertramp - Take the Long Way Home

  • @poluxsaurus1454

They have a sax player as a stable member, he rocks. He contributed to Supertramp's trademark sound. The band had two singer-songwriters, roughly each provides lead vocals to their own songs. The voice from Goodbye Stranger is not the same as this. Get ready for "Take the long way home", another lovely song.

The next song could be Take The Long way Home. There is also a nearly instrumental track on this album called Child Of Vision.

Yes. I agree with "Take the Long Way Home "being your next choice for Supertramp!👍♥️

Supertramp Rocks! I remember the first time I heard this song. Was at my cousin's house, saw the album, threw it on the turntable and loved it ever since.

Their "Crime Of The Century" album hasn't got any bad song on it. On the contrary, they're all fantastic. I think it's their best. "Hide In Your Shell" is still my favorite song on it, but it's a hard choice, since they're all amazing. It's actually a concept album.

I subscribed earlier today.....watching a couple of your ELO reactions. I was going to say that both ELO and Supertramp have such distinctive styles......that they kind of stand alone. I remember back in the 1970s, when I first heard them........I loved them equally. I still can't decide which group I enjoy more. I never grow tired of their music.

Great song Harri!! This was written by Roger Hodgson, 1/2 of the great band Supertramp writing duo. In 1979, this song was all over the radio and defined the Summer with all the other Breakfast In America album hits. Roger Hodgson has formed a new band and still tours the world. To see Roger in concert today is truly incredible. Roger still hits all the notes and if you close your eyes, you would think you were back in 1979. If Roger Hodgson should ever come to a city near you, go see him, it will take you back in time for the 2 hour show he plays.

This was my first tape! When I was maybe 7 I got my very own radio/tape player and 2 tapes for my birthday- breakfast in America and Kenny Rogers (I didn’t ask for these it’s just what I received) and ever since, I’ve loved supertramp. The logical song & take the long way home are lyrically, to me, just so damn good.

Boy, I haven’t heard SuperTramp in years!! I’ll have to check out your reaction to GOODBYE STRANGER my fav. Thanks Harri for all your reactions!! Sends me back to Junior High & High School which in comparison was a pretty good time to grow up. Some of the best music ever was in the 60’s, 70’s, & early 80’s. 💗🎵

"Give a Little Bit" is the Supertramp song that gets pushed aside too often, perhaps because it's a guitar-based tune as opposed to piano. I highly recommend it as a change-up for you.

    Another great reaction, Harri!
Isn’t amazing how one decade (the 70’s) produced so many amazing bands and tremendous songs? I have a theory about that:
It started with the Beatles setting new standards of excellence in song-writing, followed by Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd. Those three bands gave incentive to all others to reach the same level of quality and the result is this mass array of attempts that, in many cases, came very close to those three masters. And we all get to enjoy the vast volume of results.

I was in high school radio station, first period. I cut the cellophane, pulled the record out and put it on the turntable. I couldn’t stop it and only did to turn the record over. Every song hit me perfectly! It was a long winter and this and spring hit at the same time. This album reminds me of spring and turned me into a HUGE SUPERTRAMP fan!!!

PLEASE react to Good Night by The Beatles! It's such a tender and sweet song, written by John and sung by Ringo. Geoff Emerick said the demo John sung to him was one of the most beautiful things he'd ever heard. And when you've worked with The Beatles as much as Geoff Emerick had, that's saying something. Unfortunately, that demo has been gone for a long time, I'm not sure it was ever heard by the general public. It's the last song on the White Album, and right after the avant garde composition Revolution 9. It's like going from a nightmare to a beautiful dream, I LOVE the fact that the album closes like that. It sort of sounds like a song you'd hear in Cinderella or something. Great reactions! :)

Thank you for your most illogical reaction Harri! Now that you have hit the big three on Breakfast in America it is time to go back to the beginning and react to the classic LP "Crime of the Century". If you don't mind doing a couple of really long videos you could (and should) react to each side of the album, but if that is not logical you should do each song on the LP in order. The songs on Breakfast are great but they had almost gone commercial by this time. The songs on their first three albums are classics that you are guaranteed to love! I look forward to seeing you there! Peace!!
