I make a spaghetti alla Agostino with my own twist; surely it is not completely Italian but I have served it to some Italian friends before and they absolutely loved it. So please stop complaining this is not Cantonese; just enjoy her superb interpretation.
We must give great credit to the Lady-Performer of this marvelous piece of music , considered one of the musical cultural Patrimoine of the Cantonese. She mastered perfectly well with the right harmonious tune the high pitched tone she gave t o her ERHU , which is very typical to the Cantonese opera music. I believe that is a Gaohu. It‘s pretty much the same thing but the Gaohu was invented in the 20th Century by Lü Wencheng, the brilliant mind who composed this piece.
SIr(s): If I may, at this Date and Time, state here how this most Wonderful Performance showing Great Musical Acumen and Artistic Skill very much reminds me of the Account of Mr. Heinrich Harrer from Austria in his journey to Tibet, as in his texts 1) "Seven Years in Tibet" and 2) "Return to Tibet." This predates Butterfly Lovers. This was written by a Cantonese before the PRC existed, specifically written for Cantonese orchestra. Butterfly lovers was written after the establishment of the PRC specifically for violin. Butterfly lovers is not traditional and was written for a Western instrument. If anything, Butterfly Lovers is a Westernized copycat of this. Not the other way around.

This piece of music was popular from a long time ago. I first listened to this on radio some 50 years ago.
充滿感情的高胡
與呂文成演奏錄音真的很不一樣，應該說是兩人當時心境不同，詮釋起來當然有所差異。呂版樸素、力道充足、又帶些詼諧，是典型的廣東音樂味道。宋版像是古箏或古琴般的吟猱，表現另一種廣東音樂的味道。宋版給我一種更深沉的內在感受，層次感更明顯。呂版則是帶來輕快的心情。
