I am a groundskeeper at a University in Canada and this video was tremendously helpful in highlighting some of the mistakes we’ve made over the years as we struggle to manage landscapes and weeds. One of the biggest challenges that I’ve found is killing myths amongst professionals and leadership. It seems many of our standard operating procedures do not line up with the science.
Definitely some interesting points especially regarding how capitalism gets involved in the money aspect. Also her point about the lack of soil science is true. But there are a few issues I have with her opinion. 1) Growing food is not all science. Its partially a well timed art and craft. 2) Science is political. You can use the word science to claim authority but nothing in science is really 100% "neutral" "objective' or clean. 3) Science changes based on increasing understanding, innovation, experimentation and change. Saying we can't do anything because its not based in science is ridiculous. I guess farmers 3000 years ago should have just given up because they didn't use "scientific practice". 4) each farmer or grower understands the specific conditions of their own land if they follow the patterns of what happening around them.

Just forwarded this to my dedicated volunteer group. Linda touches on all the topics that interest them.
