The Wanderer Archon Quest Reveals The Truth (Ep.232)
#GenshinImpact #Genshin #MurderofBirds
The fact that Scaramouche warned Signora surprised me but also made me chuckle a bit
Funny story for my current Wanderer name: Originally I did a lot of research on the commedia dell'arte and made an altered version of KuniKazushi, changing the first part.
Then, realising I had more attempts, tried out a few different names. At one point, I gave him a joke name to use for a while.... and did not realise I had used my final attempt until it was too late.
So now, my Wanderer is forever known as: Bongo-Head...
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
LMAO
🤣🤣🤣
“The fate of Teyvat cannot be easily changed. Perhaps a god may have a slim chance…” omfg hinting at Focalors and her shenanigans during Fontaine-
Galileo suits him really well + if you ever need a nickname for him, you can just call him Gale
We all loved the cryptic message Nicole left us at the end of the quest, it was fun to read theories about who everyone thought it was before we learned later haha
11:05 "Don't start thinking you're invincible and don't let your emotions get in the way"
In hindsight, hoyoverse is really savages, reminding r/signoramains that she is dead dead
how can you be a main of something that isnt released
@@amarait2 and can never be released
This quest is so amazing and multifaceted that nobody in the fandom can agree on what the quest was about. People think Scaramouche got off Scott free (he didn’t), people think this is about morality or not, etc. What I do like about this quest is containing Buddhist ideals and thought processes within its plot. The work mihoyo put into Scaramouche is insane and as an aspiring writer it’s amazing. Nearly everything about him is a reference to something.
im ngl ik people clown on the fact that scaramouche considered the kid dying a betrayal but i feel like the game does a lot better of a job showing why it seemed like a betrayal to him they at the time are both innocent wishful children and the kid promised not to die and stay beside scaramouche the kid obviously didnt understand the truth behind his mortality but it seems scaramouche didnt really understand it either at this point scaramouches only real experience with death was people killing each other he probably thought the boy could overcome his sickness
i think it also shows scaramouches childlike mindset he just wants a family
I named mine Sora simply cause he is now is free as the open sky and holds mastery over it
Although I haven’t played Genshin in a long time, whenever I do get the chance to get back into it and start Sumeru, I want to give Wanderer the name Sora as well because it truly has so many layers to it the more you look into it. The way Sora means Sky in relation to the Anemo element of wind, how the Japanese kanji for Sora can also be translated as “kuu/empty” (and how you could portray that ironically in relation to Wanderer’s identity as a puppet), but most importantly of all for me, the fact that Aether’s Japanese name is Sora, so you would effectively be giving Wanderer your true name or the name of your sibling depending on which of the Travelers you choose to play as. I love it so much!!
Ironically, Aether’s jp name is Sora. So naming him Sora is technically the same as him as sharing a name with Aether
I named him Sora too! same reason as yours😆
Congrats to Wanderer and Furina to be the only playable characters to get their visions in game! My favorite little gremlins
My name for Scara is Suisei. It’s Japanese for mercury and I chose it for two reasons. Mercury was used as immortality pills so a way to escape erosion and the other reason is Freddie Mercury. I also had to include a bohemian rhapsody reference in there.
fun fact: mercurial as an adjective can mean volatile or “subject to sudden or unpredictable changes of mood or mind.” i’d say that also is a pretty neat additional interpretation
I ended up naming my Wanderer "Noboru" which means "to rise" or "ascend", pretty dang proud of it imo 😎
heyy i named him haruto, it also has similar meanings hehe
Oh that's nice name, If I get Wanderer I was thinking about naming him Hatamoto which means guardian of the banner they high ranking samurai in the direct service of the Tokugawa shogunate of feudal Japan.(Kinda like how Wanderer is on direct service of Nahida or similar to it) . Or Kugutsu which means puppet in Japanese
I named my wanderer Azazael
@@jaheimscott5156 is that a biblical or Tensura reference? Nice name btw..a fallen angel suits him
@@apoorvjoshi2383thanks, I gave it some thought and I felt it suited him.
I named him Ronin, since he no longer has a master/he's his own master now. I also hesitated to call him Hajime, since this is a new beginning for him, but it felt like a very "nice" name? Having said all of that, after the Interdarshan Championship, Don Sombrero is a freaking brilliant name XD
I called him "Hmph", which rewarded me with a nice screenshot of "Hmph" saying "...Hmph." I wasn't anticipating that line but I guess I just know him too well...
I named wanderer as Harusaki means in japanese "Beginning of spring" which i think directly indicates that he starts a new life with new goal, and also it also means that he can start with a new journey with new peace of mind
wow, I never thought I'd say this, but especially after I heard the same voice in Act 5 of Fontaine's archon quest, I honestly feel so happy knowing who this voice is at long last! ( yes This is coming from someone who didn't complete that certain Mondstat event and only learnt of Mage Nicolle's name thanks to me watching your Twitch stream, but I still feel super relieved knowing who I'm talking to, and it also was a surprise seeing her in this quest and in the Fontaine quest as well~) Having these time capsule videos definetly helps with lore and information that we are learning now and comparing it to the past stories, really amazing! Thank you once again Murderofbirds, keep it up~
I named my Wanderer “Shugenja” after the name that he calls himself multiple times in the quest. It is a traditional form of nomadism in Japan from what I remember.
I really like that scaramouche took accountability for his sins, and recognizes that if the descendants choose to kill him, then that would be Justice in some form, and it is only they who can absolve him truly. This is the the kind of thing redemption arcs lack usually.
I named mine Arashi. I wanted to give his name some Inazuman roots so I went with that. It means "Tempest"
Eyy same for me! This is a comment from someone on twitter which gives me the reason to give the name!
""Arashi" (嵐) means storm, but written with 新心 (“新”is new and “心” is heart) it still reads Arashi but means "New Heart"."
I named mine Saranara huhu
I named him Hayate in my game, which can mean Hurricane, or the Sound of the Wind, in Japanese. Seems fitting for his new life.
I also named him Hayate ❤❤❤
Was my first choice! But ended up naming him Haruki for now!
I named him Zephyr, it has a nice ring to it and it fits his new anemo vision pretty well imo (Zephyr is the god of the West wind in Greek mythology)
I also named him Zephyr, naming him after a wind god just felt right. Also apparently the Roman version of Zephyr is Favonius, which is a funny coincidence
i named my wanderer "Shibl," it's an Arabic name meaning "lion cub," i wanted to give him a middle eastern name since he was "reborn" in sumeru, and the demon Buer resembles a lion. since Nahida basically adopted him, i thought it was a great name :)
Hell yeah, another person who went with a "Sumeran" name! I don't look down on the Japanese names that people give him, but I feel it's more fitting to give him a fresh new start by giving him a non-Japanese name. I gave him a bit of a cheeky one though - I named him Nanda, which is "joy" in Sanskrit; but in Japanese, it can effectively be translated as "What?", sometimes with an annoyed/frustrated connotation.
@@pandorapanini6036 agreed!! and i like that name, very clever :)
@@pandorapanini6036 I gave him neither a japanese or middle east name personally
I named him Gale, which can mean both "strong wind" a "burst of laughter"
Both fit him
I named him Natsu since his jp va has the voice of Natsu from Fairy Tail...but that's not really important, but my sis's wanderer's name is Niwa hehe
I named mine Natsume😳 because he has some similarities with Natsume from Gakuen Alice😅
Named mine Issun-bōshi.
Its a Japanese fairy tale about a boy born to an elderly couple, however he was 1-inch tall. The idea come from his hat kinda looking like a beetle horn, which reminded me of how Issun-bōshi was portrayed in the game Okami, which had him with a hat in the shape of a bug. This is also a way of me calling wanderer short lmao
Thank you for reaction. I enjoyed watching this amazing archone quest with u again. It’s still funny how most of the genshin fans hate Scara bc of Teppei death, when he literally has nothing to do with that. If we consider him guilty, only in the context of the fact that he is a fatui, but in this case we can assume that they are all to blame lol
I named my Wanderer "Zawa". Its the Japanese onomatopeia not just for rustling from a breeze, but also for an uneasy atmosphere. Since hes anemo and he makes people uncomfortable from being an asshole, so I thought it was apt
next time i watch Kaiji i'm just going to be imagining all the zawa-zawas are him whispering ominously from off-camera
A lot of names that people have given him sound like the one you would give your horse
Named him “Kusogaki”, means little shit or spoiled brat in Japanese. I skipped him last year, and i’ve been keeping my primos for him next month!
I named my Wanderer Hayate; Hayate means hurricane in Japanese, aligns well with his new personality and his new Anemo vision, also when he sprints he says that word in the jp dub (I play with the jp voices and he’s not the only one, many Anemo characters says dialogues with hayate in it, like Sayu)
I decide to name my Wanderer...Cain.
Both were abandoned, both are wanderers, both have a mark of their origin
I also named mine Cain. But for a different reason. A more personal reason. And, no, it's not my name before you think that. 😜
I named him Pinocchio
I am so glad that Wanderer (Angstrodamus on my account) is still an edgy asshole.
At first I was worried he would forget everything. That would have been a cop out.
Having him do a 180 and become a humble, nice guy also would have felt unearned.
I think they did a good job of giving the character some nuance. He has changed, but not completely. He wants to be a better person and to atone for his sins of the past, but he can't shake his old habits. He feels real respect for the Traveler, and respect Nahida--probably also love, especially with Nahida--but he's way too emotionally closed to admit it.
I don't know if I forgive him... But I think it's good that he's written so I don't have to. He hasn't redeemed himself, not yet, but he's on the road to slowly do so. And that will make it feel a lot more deserved if it comes.
It will be interesting if he slowly changes as the story progresses. For the time being, though, I love listening to his edgy remarks and laughing at them.
Dude you just got all possibles reactio of him giving the names just for fun kkkk
Man, I never skipped ads from your vids but I got an ad longer than this vid, that's crazy. I skipped for the first time, man...
Damn, TH-cam be hustling sheeeeesh
9:23 neuron activation right there 😂😂
I named my Wanderer [who is my dream main ever since getting Noelle on the beginner banner] based on who is is now and who he was- his Inazuman origins.
Ei was Makoto's Shadow. She fights for her stead and protecting Inazuma from the shadows while Makoto is more of a wise, diplomat leader.
Flowers would requested the aid of the wind to pollenate and scatter across larger terrain.
And now He is Nahida's Shadow. While she may be wise and the God of Wisdom, she would require assistance from the wind to spread the word back to her, if he finds anything that may drawn her attention.
He is the Shadow Wanderer for a wise, diplomatic leader...
He is Kage Kaze "Shadow Wind" or "Wind of Shadows"
Reminds me of Naruto
I named him Loki, because he's an edgy child born as a result of war with parental issues that keeps showing up and cause events throughout history. Plus the "I am burdened with glorious purpose" complex.
Ah I remember that time, It was so fun watching Arnold live contemplating to figure out a name for Wanderer with chat suggesting what they named. It may have taken a while to find a name but that just shows how serious we take these cool rare moments.
Hmm, I don't have the character, so I just tried going with a simple but unique choice, I chose Azure, the thought was the colors of his clothes, and to fit his look
I named mine Hat Guy, so it would match the voice-over in the 3.6 event.
I actually named wanderer “Eiji”, if i remember, there are many ways to spell it but the translation of “eternal peace” stuck to me so I named him that. I really loved this quest so much it made me teared up and feel like a proud mother of wanderer TT
I thought about the name for like an hour before thinking of Galileo, I hope spamming it in chat lead to the conversation and helped people stuck on the name themselves, haha.
Is this.. finally.. the last part.. Arnold?
Yes! Enjoy!
I named him Haruto meaning Sky, soar, etc. It is very similar to Xiao but Japanese version of it. But there is more, Haruto can be interpreted in various ways as in
"bright starry sky", "flying under a clear sky", "clear-minded person" or "one who cures" depending on how you perceive it.
PS i don't know Japanese i just did google search while naming him. Sora was on my mind but i eventually found and settled with Haruto
I did a lot of research for his name. First, I was thinking of something Japanese but then decided that he wanted to get away from that, so I gave him an arabic one instead: Kazem, one who controls their anger. I thought it very fitting for who he is and his new culture.
Named him Arashi, storm or tempest in japanese, not online alludes to his past as a electro archon creation and to the caos he caused but also to his new indentity related to the wind.
I named him Ryoma after Raiden Mei's father in HI3. Felt fitting to connect Raiden lineage in that way
Damn everyone gave him all these goated names and I Just named him "Scarra".
i see the battle pass cutscene as confirmation that our twin's sense of self has been altered and they're not fully in their right mind. as the battle pass says they were deceived and now believe themself to be the ruler of the darkness.
I was so uncreative, I just named him "Scara"
(Look, even if I tried, even after 'Wanderer', he's still Scaramouche to me)
Did the same, Npc behaviour on our part
I named him Shadow I believe because like Ei, he’s become my shadow warrior
I named his TheAgeless since he's a puppet And has lived for so long
I named mine with 'LitolBoi'
I named them 'Aeraful' it's a Dragon name in my Homebrew DnD game. A dragon of Wind and Storms
I went with "Pinocchio" for my Wanderer. I have him C2 with R1 signature weapon, and I STILL use him for exploration and in Spiral Abyss sometimes.
Thankfully I had heard rumors about the renaming just before starting this quest, as I usually wait a day or two to be wide awake and able to do most major quests in 1 sitting. Nice to know we can use the Appelative Stroke to rename Wanderer, but will probably stick with Pinocchio till I come up with something better (I will admit to briefly considering "BabyGirl" before settling on Pinocchio).
I named him Mizugane, the archaic Japanese word for Mercury. Nod to Freddie Mercury and his Inazuman roots, plus his personality is fairly mercurial so it works out nicely.
Edit: Also Mercury being the god of messengers/travelers who moves really fast matches his gameplay.
I just got lunch and was looking for something to watch, THANK YOU ARNOLD
after having a lot of contemplation (and putting off this archon quest for a while), i decided to name my wanderer Yuuki! specifically using the Japanese characters that mean something like "eternal hope". it was chosen for a fanfic i was writing with him in it, but I couldn't think of anything else to name the in-game wanderer. 😅 it sounds cute either way!
i named my Wanderer "Fūjin" after the Japanese god of Wind, who is often depicted alongside Raijin (more popularly spelled "Raiden" these days) the god of Storms. the two are the most popularly known gods in Japanese mythology (which is a big part of why the name "Raiden" is such a common name for characters with Electric powers or that take Japanese inspiration in video games, like Mortal Kombat and Metal Gear. really does make me wonder why Fujin isn't as popular in the same way?)
it did make the Chenyu Vale world quest a little confusing though...
I named him "E.N.D" his VA in Japanese is the same VA as Natsu from Fairy tale and END is suitable for the end of his past and the new beginning of his future.
AYO FAIRY TAIL MENTION- 💕not the tale spelling tho xD
nice a video when I'm about to have dinner
I named him Yoriichi which means "fate" or "destiny"
I actually thought long and hard about his name TvT I named him Kuniharu (久に春). I wanted to take the Kuni sound from Kunikuzushi and give it new meaning, so that his name was also reborn in a sense- overcoming past regrets, but not forgetting them, as he implied we would still answer for his past.
久(Ku) means "long time, old, long-cherished", に is just the sound (ni), and 春(haru) means "spring, season of growth and renewal". He's an old soul looking for a new life. 'Long-cherished' also seemed appropriate to acknowledge Niwa's real feelings about him, and a hope for him to be wanted, appreciated and loved again.
For better or worse, this quest came out about a month after I started playing, and my friend who got me into Genshin told me about picking this guy's name before I'd even seen him in the Inazuma AQ :''D thus I knew well in advance that I was going to have to name him (edit: luckily I didn't get spoiled about the reason). So, around when I was finishing the main Sumeru AQ, when I actually felt I had something to work with, I started brainstorming about it. I knew I wanted the name to be Japanese sounding to retain a tether to Inazuma, so I looked for kanji that I liked for a good while and took it from there to give the name a full meaning.
Anybody remember if it was before or after Ayaka's animation? Because IIRC Ayaka's was first on-screen vision if not in game.
Every time a content creator gets this realization face 33:56 on getting to name the Wanderer , I like to say : Here are the adoption papers !
I named him Putra , meaning prince in Malay & Indonesian , which has its roots from Sanskrit , a nod to his new self in Sumeru !
i named him Kunimitsu and I'll never change it!
I didn't know there were so many hidden options when naming scaramouche!
I named him Laagus-Sterdke. No real reason, I just like weird names. It was hillarious when he complained about his name in a future event (his nickname as Hat Guy, but when he said that using the name Laagus I laughed so loud)
I looked up what I named my wanderer since I don’t actually have wanderer, ( might get him later after getting arlecchino first which will be near the end of her banner, I’m trying to save up more primos because I’m mostly f2p.) anyway I named him “Anastasius” which is Greek meaning “rebirth or resurrection” which I thought was fitting, because nahida said that he was a new reincarnation when he didn’t have his memories. But also because when he got his memories back it was like a “resurrection” of his past incarnation!
I named my Wanderer "Arashiro"! it means complete in japanese. "Ara" for the aranara of Sumeru and "shiro" means white or blank in japanese, symbolizing a new start, a 'blank' slate! "Shiro" also means castle so i also see it as a call-back to his origins
The fact that you can't name Galileo Morax is quite interesting.. Imagine trying to name Wanderer a outlander's name like the MC's abyss twin and not being able to make it that name because of whatever reason. For sure none of us really use Traveler's real name and either goes by the name "Traveler" or "Honarary knight" Or whatever a lot of people call the Traveler and as well sometimes uses they're username on whatever name people give them but not ever the real name.
Also-- to think that a witch from the hexencircle or whatever you spell it as would come back IN THE FONTAINE ARCHON QUEST IS INSANNNEEEE. I thought it was Egeria or Focolors because of the deep voice and kinda sounded like Focolors but a bit deep, though it turns out that it was this voice from the end of Gelileo's archon quest.
Hot take: I simply chose... to not give my Wanderer a name. He, to me, will be known as The Wanderer.
The one who shall be named has been named "Icarus" in my EU account, "Wanderer" in my Asia account, and "NoMan" in my NA account.
One of my favorites quest ever honestly, the lore, the writing and very well done redemption for scara (wow that last scene with Nicole, I remember the mystery and theories 😂)
Also, I named him kibou, which means hope. I think it really suits him :D
35:20 Interestingly enough, i wanted to give him one of the demon's names, since he was supposed to be Ei's vessel.
I mean, the guy floats and attack with wind slashes, so why not honor FFX's Yuna and name him-
And thus, The Wanderer is now called... Valefor.
seeing some from the past was a nice treat, but i dont think he will have a serious role further.
you thought fontaine wont get better, well it can.
i named him Shiki, because why not.
love watching your videos! always brings me back to how i strongly felt back then when doing this quest. i did a lot on research for scara's name as well; it got me so stressed. 😂 i did not want to give him a completely different name because he technically is still the 'old him', even though he already erased himself. like how he wanted the traveler to tell the people back in inazuma he was the one responsible for raiden gokaden's downfall, ive decided to name him something that still subtly ties him to his past - kuni from kunikuzushi, and shinsei which means newborn/ newlife - kunishinsei.
Kamikazi which in Japanese means divine wind, to represent that he almost became a god in the past and is anemo in the present.
I really like this name i spent like a month researching for a name for this man it's crazy.
32:40 Same feelings now with Natlan just around the corner XD
I name him Hisahito for now. The meaning is calm virtuous and everlasting. I name him this name because I hope one day he will find peace forever when he atone his sin. And he is the first evil one that change sides and became our allies and playable character. Also this name is the youngest prince of Japan name. Such a good name.
I ended up naming him "Scarab", in one part because of the irony of naming him after a bug in the same quest he admits he hates insects, but the real reason was that scarabs in ancient Egypt symbolized transformation and rebirth. (Also doesn't hurt that his hat and new vision can also fit the image of a "jeweled" scarab)
We made to caribert with this one!!!! Clothar VA is boothil va in honkai star rail...he is too good for this world
I called him Babygirl :)
and I do not regret it
I just named him Kahi. It was a name person I used to know and was friends with. His name felt so unique, so it stuck with me, and now it's stuck to Scara lol.
Eyyy first!
I've been waiting for this part and your vods!
Edit: i named mine Fuujin for now in reference with Raijin and Fuujin.
I was struggling to pick a name or him, I was either going to go with Sora or Hiro, I went with Hiro in the end
I named wanderer Kazeshini which means "wind death". Its a zanpakuto from Bleach
I named him "Rurouni" from Samurai X one of my fave anime, because Kenshin is called that and I think it means Wandering Samurai.
I named my wandie Kurikara, after the Buddhist god he references- Fudo Myo O. One of my theories is that I hope he has a connection to dragons cause Fudo Myo O himself was sometimes depicted as one or wielded the dragon sword Kurikara.
Fun fact: Herrscher of Thunder (God version of Raiden Mei in HI3) has the dragon Kurikara as a familiar so it's fitting
@@Error_Redacted yep I know that :D I have a whole theory that connects Scaramouche to Inazuma’s electro sovereign-whom I believe to be Kurikara, but I didn’t mention anything about it because I don’t want to risk my comment being deleted.
I mean we now know who she was. the voice at the end, but even then, she didn't say anything that we hadn't witnessed already. She just summed up the entire wanderer quest in one line. Vase was lets say like Niwa or kazuha or Teyvat in general. Wanderer changed things in irminsul, deleted himself, yet niwa died, Kazuha grew up the same aka just the events changed, ending remained same, AKA wanderer failed to change the "fate", just like how originally it was paimon broke the vase when she was panicking about balladeer, but this time, its still broken, but due to some other reason. Its not the same broken vase. its just that it broke again in this timeline, just due to a different reason.
Its almost like she is suggesting that teyvat is on a due course to destruction, and we need someone that can rival the will of the world, someone with strong enough will to sway this fate..aka descenders. She mentions that even a "god" will only have a slim chance...traveller needs to surpass the normal gods, he need to become powerful enough to rival primordial one to be able to sway the destiny of this world
please chat, if you want to name your wanderer “wind god” it’s “fuujin” or “fūjin”. NOT “FUJIN” aka married lady. please.
I just finished this quest last night, and I named him Dion.
Named him Sohel, which is apparently an Arabic name meaning moonlight! I wanted to stray away from Japanese names because even though that's where he was born and spent most of his life in, I want him to be be more associated in the land where he's reborn in so I chose a name with Arabic origin. I also wanted the name to be about being Sumeru's light, so I chose the one with moonlight because I think he's more of the light bringer when the world is enveloped in darkness. It's not as appreciated as the sun, but it's definitely there.
I named my Wanderer Fandango_Man.
I named him Shinatsuhiko, Japanese God of Wind, variant of Shinatobe
would be sick as hell if Wanderer got an exclusive story quest like Kazuha did in 2.8. If he does, I REALLY hope they meet considering he already has a voiceline abt him 🙏
So I *was* spoiled we were getting to name him ahead of doing the quest, which was so useful as I spent a lot of time thinking about it. I don't want to think how long I would have stalled if not warned 😂
I finally went with Haseo, a .hack character who's named after a Japanese poet that I feel *really* works for Wanderer. We first meet Haseo's real life player playing a real gremlin of a unit in another show in the series, but thanks to some events he ends up with amnesia and he is *very* changed when we meet him as Haseo because of his changed memories.
And Matsuo Bashou, the poet who Haseo named his MMO character after, has done some very lovely haiku. The poetry angle feels nice with how much he continues to be a foil to Kazuha.
God this quest continues to be amazing each time I see it, it was great to revisit it. I love where Nahida and Wanderer end up, there for each other after a long history of being used and betrayed.
.........Now all this seriousness here, and poor Wanderer on my alt *is* getting the dumbest name 😂I am so sorry dude. I haven't decided on the dumb name yet, but it IS happening when I get there.
The scene where the traveler saved the wanderer is so Goated that his newest battle with the Knave making him look like he's still in mondstadt again 😂
Edit, I mean "Galileo" XD
I picked some questionable names. On the account I pulled him: Kharn, a Warhammer 40k reference. On my other account: powerballad, a reference to 80s music.
I named him "Asano Sora" roughly translated to morning sky symbolizing a new beginning. Asano can be written to mean to laugh, smile.
I didn't think much about how to name him but I wanted to see if I could use different languanges, so I called him 流浪者 which is just wanderer in chinese. Oh I play en
