Thanks so much for your concern, spacing of onion depends on stages of growth, variety of seeds, customers preferences of the product and nature of the soil.
From nursery beds, space at 10 cm between the planting hills or rows, while in the field ie when transplanting, space at:-
1- Normal spacing is between 10 Cm to 15 cm ie you can space Onion Seedlings at transplanting in a 15 cm X 15 cm
2- if you need to produce small sized bulbs, space at 10 cm X 10 cm BUT for big sized bulbs space at 15 cm X 15 cm or even more.
3- Different seeds company may specify the recommended spacing, also consult them too

Starting onion production is simple, if you never tried first get basic skills especially in nursery bed establishment, obtain good seeds, prepare land & consult as you start
