Arthur looked like the cover art, R* was forced to release RDR2 in a unready rushed state, so arthur's beard wasnt properly fixed when they changed his face. So on 1.00, his beard grows on his lower lip, and in his mouth....weird stuff
Thanks for this man. On my 3rd run to use photo mode and noticed it looked off but couldn't put my finger on it. Also makes my Pro run loud as hell now as opposed to 1.00
Amazing comparison. In the end the 1.29 version is the best, the draw distance is a very minor sacrifice imo. It's obviously not a downgrade at all. They refined the AO/lighting and reduced the draw distance probably to save performance. Very interesting.
na.... the lighting is still better in 1.00 at least for the character models.... Arthurs face looks much better and even different in 1.00 not just because of the lightning on arthurs face but arthur has a slight different face model compared to the later ones
@@godzillazfriction The lighting is not better in 1.00 at all, ambiant occlusion is missing in a lot of spots and the shadowing on the faces of the characters is less refined. There is no downgrade, it's different but absolutely not worst. The only real downgrade is the draw distance.

Completed this 8/9 times Deleted it off my ps4 and re installed as 1.00.. Anyway, 1.00 genuinely is different. More interactions, more fluent, the atmosphere, Arthur seems more gritty looking, better glitches, stuff unlocked that shouldn't be... stuff happened on this playthrough that NEVER happened the other times I played with the latest patches. If you can, install the 1.00
@@masonb__ I go into the wild a lot. As great as RDR2 is, just that tiny more alive. Random encounters I’ve watched on clips, that never happened to me. I like fishing, and all the bait is unlocked from the start as a glitch. Plus few rifles glitched. His winter coat can be open (big for me because it covers his skinniness in later chapters when ill) Things in camp, again just more alive. More interactions fluently and always going, good few I’ve never seen, especially camp near Rhodes. (Sometimes I feel I have to sleep to ‘activate’ the camp in the latest update or load up the auto save). They don’t glitch and do missions in their pyjamas which use to annoy me sometimes, ha. Towns more immersive (as great as it normally is). Prologue - John walks correctly and not just a clone of arthur and his body is much more like his. (Might show in this clip I can’t remember).
Ya, man...when i play for the first time, i found more open world interaction and you can find grey Arabian in saint denis during arthurs storyline..its a glitch but a fine one...ive also encountered a man peeing somewhere in the heartland which i didn’t encounter at any other latest patches..i feel like original version has more open world event going on than the other patched version..its just different and special

@@godzillazfriction Oh, I know. 1:00 Arthur actually looked rougher and less like a Hollywood pretty boy; with a bigger nose, thicker eyebrows and a more hardened, beaten look especially with a beard. He's like the best balance between late marketing era Arthur and the current version of Arthur we have. They should've kept 1:00 Arthur if they didn't want to go with a look as extreme as Beta Arthur.
i wish i had bought the game on disc at the time if i knew you could play pre release build, then again you can probably mod the PC version with the files of the 1.00 build
Patch 1.00 is way better than current patch. 1 Shadows are less grainy. 2 The dialogue is more realistic and immersive. 3 beard and hair looks better. 4 The wardrobe is not as cluttered 5 lots of the clothes look better. 6 Draw distance is better.
It looks so much more clear in 1.00 but I think the stamina of the horse doesn't last as much as v 1.29 and i have same saddle and same horse. Has anyone else notice that or is just my imagination?
Maybe, but I know after the patches, with at least a level 2 bond, the patting of your horse while riding regenerates some stamina. Having a bond level of 4, however, allows you to pretty much infinitely ride as long as you time out your pats right. No matter what bond level in version 1.00, patting will give no stamina regeneration.
@@CyrusN1 in the latest version you can pat the horse at full speed, but it only works to actually replenish about every 13-15 seconds... Shit almost forgot to mention, that only works I think starting with level 2 horse bonding
@@CyrusN1 yeah definitely not at all lol To just be able to pretty much infinitely run your horse at max speed till you get to your destination... Or hit a tree/fall off a cliff or steep hill lol. I wish they didn't change that completely, like to have it like you said, that'd be better I think and more realistic. At least equal to how Arthur/John's stamina refills after sprinting when just walking and/or resting, but with a slight bump in speed of refill as you pet or brush them.
I love version 1.00 because of graphics and alot more things but its buggy i'm ok with that the newer version graphics look a little bad but you won't notice and it has photo mode and red dead online.
In 1.00 Arthur uses one of his beta faces from the rdr2 trailers that’s more rugged and realistic for an outlaw. And later versions redid his face to have amore Hollywood look aka beautify him. Personally I think his 1.00 face looks better plus he looks more like Roger Clark his Actor
@@Bugplanet8840 His face texture is the same. It's just the head model that's slightly different. The reason his face texture looks different is because the ambient occlusion in 1.00 was different than later versions.
I am an ordinary guy, I do not hurt others, I do not wish to harm others, I am perfectly fine, i am not insane, i do not have delusions, i do not see things that arent there, i do not hear voices, if i have a shopping cart, i will return it, i do not command murders of crows, I can look past the graphical changes but the fucking bugs, NO IM NOT COLD THANK YOU VERY MUCH, WHY IS THE SPOON DROPPING??? And the worst one of all honestly is the first train mission you go back to the gang and all the horses have moved and i specifically remember you use to climb back on your horse, and that is reinforced by the fact that the very next cutscene depicts you on your horse
It’s not just visual changes, though the video seems to highlight those. For example, there’s glitches in later versions that make camp interactions loop which mean you’ll get the same conversations every time you start the game or go back to camp. Interactions within towns are diminished or missing entirely. The games performance somehow seems less optimized than on 1.00. As in my Pro sounds like a jet engine on latest patch but barely operates above a light hum on 1.00. Johns entire character model was swapped for Arthur’s on later patches which just completely removes immersion and introduces more glitches. There’s a lot more to nitpick on than just visual changes, they literally made the game worse.
Should i update to 1.29 ?
Currently i'm playing on ps4 ver 1.27

So on 1.00, his beard grows on his lower lip, and in his mouth....weird stuff

@@femto8402 ok tell me you're blind without telling me you're blind.... the lighting is CLEARLY better on the characters face model.... and the ambient occlusion is the same as the current version of the game

Great analysis man. Huge respect to your hard work. The draw distance and AO differences really shocked me. I never played the 1.00 version since Rockstar patched the game at day one and I had the digital edition at that time.

Deleted it off my ps4 and re installed as 1.00..
Anyway, 1.00 genuinely is different. More interactions, more fluent, the atmosphere, Arthur seems more gritty looking, better glitches, stuff unlocked that shouldn't be... stuff happened on this playthrough that NEVER happened the other times I played with the latest patches.
If you can, install the 1.00
please tell us what happened what you havent seen im interested
@@masonb__ I go into the wild a lot. As great as RDR2 is, just that tiny more alive. Random encounters I’ve watched on clips, that never happened to me. I like fishing, and all the bait is unlocked from the start as a glitch. Plus few rifles glitched.
His winter coat can be open (big for me because it covers his skinniness in later chapters when ill)
Things in camp, again just more alive.
@@Ghfddhtvvfdd2421 agree. Hard to explain unless you play it.
@@ryan4372 rockstar should've left the single player as it was...they are not gonna support multiplayer so why destroying single player for the sake of multiplayer in the process...i always prefer rdr over gta and got huge disappointed by how rockstar just take one of the greatest game of all time to the trash bin😒...no story dlc or undead nightmare 2!!
Is it just me or do certain characters like Pearson look very slightly different in version 1.00 conpared to recent patches?
His eyebrow density, mustache and hair positioning/curliness has been altered with version 1.02 [day one patch].
@@westernrev9628 Yeah, that's exactly it. I especially noticed the eye brows and hair positioning parts the most.
He looked even worse in the trailer
@@themadtitan7603 arthur also looks different... i think 1.00 arthur is the arthur you see in trailer 3 and some aspects with trailer 2 arthur...
the current looks more like a pretty boy that rockstar were going for in the end... Arthur can still pull a scary and demonic facial expressions in the current version... just go into photo mode and grab and then rob and you'll see arthurs eyes become different especially when he has a bandana or a mask on...
to see a difference between 1.00 arthur and current then just go on Google and look for 1.00 vs current arthur's face comparison especially when he pulls that face when threatening archie downes
Nice🙂
Quick question sir this the Background song copyright claim it?
i wish i had bought the game on disc at the time if i knew you could play pre release build, then again you can probably mod the PC version with the files of the 1.00 build

Thank you for doing this but is this on a console or PC? I don't see it mentioned in your video or here.
Console
Pues en cuanto al modelado de Arthur hay una mejora a mi parecer
I have a question, does it go with the offline game, is it good to play it without a patch or is it better to update it, help
Patch 1.00 is way better than current patch.
1 Shadows are less grainy.
2 The dialogue is more realistic and immersive.
3 beard and hair looks better.
4 The wardrobe is not as cluttered
5 lots of the clothes look better.
@@Zakkunie actually patting will replenish the horse stamina but only when the horse is standing or going slowly
@@CyrusN1 in the latest version you can pat the horse at full speed, but it only works to actually replenish about every 13-15 seconds... Shit almost forgot to mention, that only works I think starting with level 2 horse bonding
@@Zakkunie yep wich is not realistic at all
@@CyrusN1 yeah definitely not at all lol To just be able to pretty much infinitely run your horse at max speed till you get to your destination...
Great content

I love version 1.00 because of graphics and alot more things but its buggy i'm ok with that the newer version graphics look a little bad but you won't notice and it has photo mode and red dead online.
Do the gold bar glitch, then update.
In 1.00 you can un-equip offhand holster
@@user2004k wtf
They’re not bad lol just different lighting
I'd stay 1.00 on your 1st play through just because it looks as intended. Later version does have perks like fast travel and photo mode though
Arthur just looks infinitely better in 1.00, and that's what really matters... obviously.
Why does Arthur slightly change his appearance in these 2 versions?
In 1.00 Arthur uses one of his beta faces from the rdr2 trailers that’s more rugged and realistic for an outlaw. And later versions redid his face to have amore Hollywood look aka beautify him.
Personally I think his 1.00 face looks better plus he looks more like Roger Clark his Actor
@@Bugplanet8840 His face texture is the same. It's just the head model that's slightly different. The reason his face texture looks different is because the ambient occlusion in 1.00 was different than later versions.
I found a way to downgrade on pc. They finally added offline mode

@@RainyWolf7 Did you pray today... Did you pray today..

This fanbase is so nitpicky lmao. Anyone who is seriously bothered by this needs serious psychological help
Why would they need psychological help you weirdo
They damned Marston in an update.
