Grew up in Germany 70’s through 80’s. Coal was used to heat buildings as per the huge coal room bins on bottom floor, where coal was delivered weekly.
Also, we had snow-deep snow, most of the winter. We all learned to ski in those snows in the mountains but even along Rhine, snow.
I will give you that maybe coal was replaced with oil 80’s but energy was coal.

@@awm9290 Where do you get the impression of PZ being "of the left"? He's apolitical, which is part of the appeal. He finds positives and negatives on both sides in relation to Geopolitics, but doesn't buy into their grifts. In fact, politics and their agendas are at best only reactionary to the bigger picture that is Geopolitics. Yes, Mr. ZIon effectively delivers those important and coherently detailed puzzle pieces, of which, he lays out assembled for us to clearly see.
His skill has definite chops, but, a skit like this has a shelf life usually shorter than the printed date of: sell by.... .
Any/Every good 'set list' has measurable 'range'.
Quirky, goofy elements give out a kind of 'squarely grounded' feeling and 'a long-winded serious concept'. But what cracks me up is the possible inner dialog going on in Callens head, thinking: i hope this is going to get funny soon!
But at least we have the freedom to legally change our names, write a very different kind of compelling book/novel, change hair/outward appearance and, viola!, you're new once more!

Hey, I live here and it’s not by any means the greatest country in the world. Obviously you have not been to any of our cities full of homeless drug addicts. We do not take care of our own. We flush it down the toilet by giving our hard earned tax money to corrupt leaders of every country in the world with their hands out. You can’t see a doctor unless you have good insurance. They raid our social security system for other whims and whammies without voter consent. Our voting system is corrupt, housing costs unaffordable for most. People live paycheck to paycheck. I think this video is way too optimistic as to our future. Millions of people a year are entering our borders illegally with no money or skills to an already horrible labor market. We can’t absorb anymore people, we don’t have enough use for more Orange pickers or toilet cleaners for the elite. Our factories are a thing of the past, no clerical jobs hiring. We are all in a sinking ship as always because we never learned one thing….stop invading countries and killing people and getting mixed up in their business. Politicians politic they don’t lead for the good of the average man. Trump was not a politician that’s why he was voted in. That’s why the elite now will not be satisfied until they hang him by his testicles. All we have in DC running the show are dirty snakes. That’s my take on our situation. We repeat history over and over again.

As a young construction worker with a computer science background in the industrial sphere, I’ve been trying to raise awareness of the trades for 10 years. Not a lot of young people are interested because they simply don’t know that these companies need what they have to offer. It’s a sad state of affairs. I was talking to a computer science major the other day (he has a close friend who works in HVAC) who had no idea what direct digital control is; that most of these industrial and commercial systems require computer programmers. Most people who program this stuff barely know what they’re doing from a programming standpoint. The trades require skills that most people don’t consider. These companies will take anybody with any sort of computer knowledge and groom them because they’re desperate.
