It is with profound regret that I have been informed that Jake has passed way on January 21, 2013 at the age of 93. He was a truly remarkable individual, and I'm honored to have met and spoken with him over the years.
He is a man's man. Guys today can only dream of being as cool and as tough as Jake McNiece. Bless him. Great American and soldier. Thanks for the post.
Its been an absolute pleasure every time we get to meet him. There's a third segment to this video, but I have to edit a little off the tail end of it. He's got some really funny anecdotes about wine, women, gambling and fighting that he shares with us.
As a paralyzed disabled veteran and Desert Storm Veteran, my war was a pie job compared to these "Greatest Americans who ever lived". My grandfather was a US Marine in the Pacific in WW2 and I thanked him every chance I could. Once I was grown, he never had to ever pay for a meal as long as I was around. He was a Marine Recon in WW2 and hated Japan even after the war. Wanna know why the Koreans and Vietnamese were as ruthless as they were? Because they learned it from the Imperial Japanese military and knew what would happen if they were ever taken prisoner by the Japanese. What Japan did to Nanking, yet still deny it, truly shows that Japan is far from being an honorable people. And it wasn't just the Chinese who they slaughtered, Priests, Monks, Babies, Pregnant women. The Germans admitted there guilt, but Japan never has.
The one man in uniform who will ALWAYS be allowed to have his hands in his pockets. I was attached to the 101st in Afghanistan as an intelligence operator, without them I would surely not have made it back home. RIP good sir, Rakkasan!!
I am really sorry to hear that Jack McNeice has passed. Like all of our WWII veterans that have passed from this life to the next - well done thy good and faithful servant. God love 'em - None like 'em.
I got to meet him four or five times between 2004 and 2012. My friend Bob was much closer to him, and they frequently spent time together. We've visited Jake's grave in Ponca City several times, the most recent when a group of us served as Honor Guard during this year's Memorial Day commemoration ceremonies
One wonders if no pearl harbor attack had happened what usa Would have done! Many ignored the neutrality act And went Into canada in 1939 And joined the rcaf But did any join the Canadian. Airborne upto dec1941!
Now we have a lot of people crying over extra genders and other useless things. This new generation will take make up to combat. Salute to this brave man 👏
Yes, everyone in our circle knew Jake and spent time with him before his death. It was always a treat and an honor when he would show up at our events and tell us stories. Every Memorial Day we visit his grave site in Ponca City.

jake Mcniece, greatest American hellraiser hero. read his book "filthy 13, front the dust bowl to .....
Fyi the pathfinder survival rate was under 20% in WW2. That's crazy!
What’s even crazier is that Jake McNiece is the only paratrooper in World War Two with four combat jumps under his belt. Two as a Pathfinder!
I bet he could still lay down suppressing fire and reek hell on someone.
How he still cool looking with that rainbow sunglasses
What a legendary badass.
SIR!! YES SIR!!! He cast a tall shadow.
Respect, earns Respect, thank you kindly sir, for my freedom,
Grandaddy Roy C. Mauer 101st Airborne Division. Pacific Theater. RIP heroes of WWII!
101st Airborne was in the ETO in WW2. You mean he served in the Pacific AFTER?
He got on with the job at hand
Bypassing all the extraneous
Nonsense piled on by rear
Echelon mothers!
Fun fact: Jake McNiece is the only paratrooper in World War Two with four combat jumps under his belt.
Knees to the breeze airborne

Legend! Filthy Thirteen!
Jake will forever be remembered as the person who blew up 10 tanks just to eat eggs
Check again. Yes, Jake was indeed a member of the Filthy 13, but he was a pathfinder. Don't believe me, go ask the man yourself.
Hero with a Scottish name.
Put Jake on the $20!
I second everything you guys said-plus just wanted to add that this guy's an okie!
Hell of a man!
One wonders if no pearl harbor attack had happened what usa
