Fantastic video. Just for info. The keyboard played is Jools Holland who is a musical institution in the UK. He has hosted a late night music show for the last 25 years called Later with Jools Holland and tours every year and has a legendary new year show called Jools Holland Hootenany.
The tune is merely in 4/4 & the “emphasis” in the feel is simply on 2 & 4 (not “3”). I mean it’s simply a heavy back beat with a phenomenal (big early 80’s) snare sound.
Hi Brian, I loved your Tempted Tutorial. I'm working on learning piano solo for Pulling Muscles from the Shell. Any chance you could make a video on this? Thanks.
I'd love to help, Rebecca, but I"m not able to spend as much time as I'd like on music these days. I did give that song a quick listen just now, though, and believe that you'd be safe (with all but the most scrupulous of listeners) covering the solo with some broken chords and two or three rapid arpeggios and/or runs. Squeeze's keyboardist probably never plays it exactly the same way twice, so all we cover musicians would really need to capture is the groove and the energy, not so much the notes.
Great Job, Thank You.

Brian I love your Videos. Can you make some guitar Video
I have a stubborn shoulder injury that makes it difficult to hold a guitar, but I hope to make some guitar videos once that has healed.
