I like Trump but this mandate puts a greater burden on the taxpayer. I thought we were trying to reduce taxes, not increase them. If someone was hired for a remote position and they live in the middle of nowhere….the government will now be responsible to provide them a physical office that the government (with our tax payer monies) will have to lease or buy. The government now has a new building they have to maintain at our expense. An electric bill, gas bill, property insurance, cleaning staff, maintenance people, etc. That person will now be required to drive out to an office to do the exact same work they were doing at home, losing productivity hrs. because of commuting. God forbid they live in rual Montana, and their direct report lives in South Dakota. They will literally be driving to an empty or semi empty office that now has to be maintained at the taxpayer expense. Just to sit in there by themselves so that they can make the same video calls to their direct report. It really makes no sense. Remote positions were created long before the pandemic to pull the best talent from wherever. This is a step in the wrong direction. This will cost us more money…money we nor our government has. They will raise our taxes to fund this venture😢
Well, DOGE is hiring a staff of at least 6 that are likely salaried. Where is the cost savings there? There isn't. Omg stop with the saving money nonsense. Federal employees pay for their own internet utilities ect when working remote or teleworking there is NO stipend for that and now more office space is going to have to be funded to serve the influx of workers coming back into the office. This is going to cost millions not to mention just like the Reagan administration that back peddled after workforce reduction and also during Obama the hundreds of thousands if not millions it's going to take to hire and train new employees.....they will realize REAL QUICK just like they have every OTHER time it's not doable and they actually need those feds who aren't there. By that time all the sleepy sheep Americans will have forgotten the workforce reduction was caused by trump and the issue with their pay and benefits a direct result of his incompetence. They'll be whining about taxes being increased to fund what's needed. Civilians are so freaking clueless
These workers have my support. If they can do the job then it doesn't matter where they are. Some people don't want to have a boss breathing down their neck for 8 hours on some random ego trip. The Federal government is just like any company - there are ethical people who put in an honest days effort in exchange for their salary/wages and there is a subset of unethical people who shirk their work and try to scam the system. Unfortunately I think this offer will not be an incentive for the shirkers and scammers to resign. Where else can they go to work and find a job with guaranteed pay raises, subsidized health care and a defined benefit retirement plan (FERS) in exchange for so little effort? Instead of the shirkers and scammers, this offer will probably attract either those who are too entitled to think anyone can tell them what to do at their job (even if that someone is paying them) . One could argue this type of employee is not much different than the first, especially teleworkers who’ve been milking the system since the rest of went back to work mid-2020. Although I believe there are a lot of ethical teleworkers who work diligently and productively from home (without those office distractions others mentioned) and unfortunately some of them won’t want to go back to their office full time for non-exempt reasons and may decide to resign. Worse case, this offer will appeal to the bright, highly-motivated, people who will succeed regardless of who employs them. That last subset is the type of employee the federal government needs to retain. I just hope I’m wrong for the country’s sake.

@@hacker360pcthey've done studies that show people are just as productive at home as they are in office, if not moreso. so why do you care so much?
Businesses have lost a lot of money due to remote work. People don't eat out as much since they're at home, use as much gas, etc. Thousands of buildings are sitting empty and people are stuck in leases. I've been home for 15 years and love it. I work for an insurance company. I get more work done due to less distractions. I communicate with my co-workers and supervisor through Teams. I'll never work in an office building again.
@@HiCarla224 And most workers forced to go back have pledge not to buy anything near their work area. and the hundreds of millions saved from leases never got to the American people
I like Trump but this mandate puts a greater burden on the taxpayer.

You’re misinformed and intellectually challenged.😂
@@Mister75199 Not you either.
and they get no unemployment either. work was/is available. i DO agree that some job's WERE and ARE remote. that would be spelled out in the job discription. there seem's to be confusion about those who HAD OFFICE JOB'S and were allowed to work from home compared to REMOTE FIELD WORK requiring limited office visit's/time.
PS: i have never heard of any job where you never come into a office. just to know physicly you are ALIVE would be at least a BI-ANNUAL REQUIREMENT.
Gee who knew to get a paycheck you have to work?
GEE...might have to show up for work...to get the high wages and nice benefits.

OH NO NOT THAT!
Duh. Just b/c someone works from home doesn't mean they aren't working. Similarly, just b/c someone goes into work, doesn't mean they put in the work. Most agencies in the gov't have performance requirements and production to meet. If you don't put out satisfactory work at the levels they want, you will get fired whether you're working from home or the office.
We all have been back to work for a few years. Some people never stopped working. Go back to work.
That is not the discussion junior. These people are not accused of fraud.
Federal workers never stopped working either. I guess you don't understand the "work" part of "tele-work."
